Ch. 19Ridden with guilt

Amy's POV

We just got back home. Each of us tired beyond imagination. Aria texted each of us after she reached back home, late into midnight while we were in Switzerland. She insisted that we enjoy the last day left and we did. A little too much.

And now, our body aches too bad to even consider going to college for assignments and some clarifications.

"Man, I don't want to go to college." Alex whines. I watch Crystal drag him to their room - yes, Crystal is staying over with us for the time being. I chuckle at their adorable interaction.

I enter my room and collapse on the bed. My wristwatch shines against the darkness of my room, it is quarter past six in the morning. Quickly messaging to one of my classmates that I will join the lecture discussion later during the day, I doze off on command.

Waking up hours later, I see the time is around 10 in the morning. My eyes widen. I'm supposed to be in campus by 10:30! Rushing my morning routine and picking up breakfast cooked by Winter with the assistance of our cook, I dash out of the door!

"Looks like we're both late!" Dane yells after me. "Hey! No! Take the other car!" I exclaim! Dane yells back while chewing! Ew!

"No, fuck off! This doesn't only belong to you and I'm super late. Move!" Pushing my head inside the door, he makes me fall on the leather seat as I had no choice but to scoot! The eclipse is in front of me. His huge body descends on my thighs as I was sure my legs are going to pop out of the joints if he sits on them.

"Fuck yo— hmph!" His mouth filled with sandwich latches onto mine. The partition between driver and the riders keeps our little secret safe. Dane chokes me by my neck, forcing me to open my mouth. His bite ladden slightly with his saliva - not yet chewed - is pushed into my mouth. Satisfied with his ways of 'feeding' me, Dane sits back with a smirk.

"THAT'S FUCKING DISGUSTING!" I cry in despair!

"Shut the fuck up or I'll do it again."

"...."

Well, that shushed me up quicker than we thought. We reach the campus, both of us bursting out of the car from opposite doors!

"Loser owes a gelato for a month!" Yelling, Dane dashes off at the speed of light! Dumbstruck, I call after him!

"Not fair, you giraffe! Ugh! Fucktard." I say.

"Whoa, Whoa. What's gotten you so wrecked first thing in the morning?" My class monitor appears from behind me. She's a cool nerd, with braces and adjusts her spectacles. I know her background is similar to mine - rich heir trying to keep her identity hidden. I can just feel it!

"Nothing. Just sibling things. Aren't we late for the lecture?" I ask her.

"Nope. He's our physics guru. Nothing pisses him off except for bad grades on his surprise tests. Don't worry, Frostbite. Chillax." She drags the last word out. Well, if the class monitor is this chill about it, I don't have anything to worry about either. The lecture is halfway through when our professor stops himself.

"I'll take questions from now. Don't hoard around me." Saying, he sits on his desk, grunting like an old man that he is. I chuckle to myself at that little remark. He's a pretty cool professor. I don't mean to pull his leg in any way.

The bell rings, but I'm confused about the absence of Aria. I didn't notice her absence in the class until Professor started taking the roll call. It's almost lunch time now. I shoukd call and know what she's upto. I remember her saying exclusively that she didn't want to miss out on revision classes nor doubt debriefing sessions which just happened.

I sit on the table in the middle of a less crowded cafeteria. Yet, I can hear the jovial laughter of other college students of the block. "Pick it up. Come on." I urge no one, just praying.

"Tsk. This girl." Upon the third ring, the call automatically diverts itself to voicemail.

Aria's pre-recorded voice on the gadget goes off. Sighing, I remind myself that she must be either studying or ignoring me.

There could only be one of these two options. Or...she is genuinely busy with some work.

What I didn't know was that...she's enjoying the company of someone else. Someone known.

The day at campus ends at three in the afternoon. I catch Dane doting heavily on Winter as they walk several people in front of me. Sadness fills my eyes. Why am I having so many expectations on my lovers in my reverse harem? I agreed to this. I can't be a hypocrite and break the thin thread of our deal.

"Hello!" Crystal jumps over me from behind! I almost stumble front!

"Hey! Good that you guys joined after lunch break. I was bored out of my mind." I reveal, watching Crystal fall back to Alex. Well, there it goes again. The 'hypocritic guilt'.

"I'm so exhausted. I can't wait for the exams to end so we can enjoy the holidays!" Crystal says. Alex chimes in and talks about how unfair college life is. While school students enjoy the winters in the warmth of their homes, we college students (and professors) have to come to campus regardless. Talk about the anti-perks of being an adult.

"Oh. Someone's calling me." I fish my purse for my phone, pulling it out and viewing the ID. I stop in my tracks. While Alex keeps Crystal busy in his talk, I take this opportunity to roll out of the crowd and take the call.

It's Aria, calling me back.

"Hey, Aria! You didn't come to college today—"

"Hello? Amy. Wait, don't cut the call! Just hear me out!"

Instead of Aria's voice, a male voice answers me instead. I blink my eyes, unable to believe my ears.

Should I answer him? Or ignore him and warn Aria to keep her distance from him?

Cynric...you're forcing yourself back into my life, aren't you?
