Out of all, Amy is affected the most. She refuses to raise her head even though Winter assured her that nothing could go wrong beyond this point. Amy simply watches everyone leave after the discussion.
"Don't take it to your heart, Amy. This happened to us many times. If you want to know how it feels, ask Crystal. She's had very bad female friendships like this in the past." Nick holds her shoulders and says softly.
"I don't know what to do beyond this point, Nick. It's crazy. I thought Aria would be a good person. She's also a rich person."
"That's the problem, isn't it? The rich always want to be richer. Greed doesn't escape the ones with plenty, either. You just need to be careful from this moment onwards, okay? And I completely understand that this is new to you. We've been dealing with this for years." Nick mentions about himself and the other Frostbite brothers. This is more common than she thinks.
"Okay." Answering half-heartedly, Amy turns around to leave Nick's hotel room.
"Wait. Just to be careful," Nick grabs her wrist and pulls her back. She looks at him, waiting to complete the sentence, "Don't say anything about tonight to Aria, alright? The investigation team will handle it. Someone must've been following them and jammed their comm. Do not talk to Aria about this. Alright?" Nick warns Amy. Amy nods, pledging to keep this discreet from Aria.
Nick watches her walk out of his room. He waits until she enters her room with Aria. However, his eyebrows furrow when she walks past her room. He calls her out in the corridor, "Where are you going?"
"To the garden. Or...or the pond. I don't know. I need my mind off this." She answers briefly. Nick looks back into his room, contemplating whether to give her company.
"Okay. Be safe." Saying, Nick walks back in and shuts the door softly. Amy turns back around, continuing to walk without an aim. She sighs, wanting to get the ordeal out of her head. Not only was their vacation ruined, but things that Winter noticed are pointing to Aria being a...traitor.
Winter's words ring in her ears.
"She...was too jovial. In an annoying way. It almost bothered me to know such a woman existed. To top it all off, she knew about my late mother and my father's annual ritual, which I've never talked about to literally anyone. It's strange. The way she acts."
She knows that Winter wouldn't speak of anyone condescendingly. Moreover, if it is coming from a woman like Winter, Amy wants to believe it. Would it be better if she cut her friendship off with Aria Chen? She's having too many fingers pointing at her now. First, it was Crystal feeling uneasy with their friendship. Now, Winter and the rest of her brothers.
"I think it's best if I just..."
Saying out loud to herself, Amy swiftly walks out of the garden and finds herself in front of her hotel room.
She knocks on the door, having forgotten the passkey inside. Aria opens the door, her phone clutched in her hand.
"Hey. Hi." Aria greets Amy, walking away to the bed. She sighs, and Amy watches her intently.
"Aria. There's...something you need to know." Aria looks up and smiles at Amy.
'She's too jovial. In an annoying way.'
Winter's words ring in Amy's ears again.
"What is it?" Aria scoots to the side to let Amy sit beside her. And then, Amy reveals what they've discussed about Aria in the room. Amy tried to be as soft as possible, choosing tailor-fit words to be polite and make Aria understand.
But...Aria looks through it all. Soon, the waterworks start. Aria sniffles, her lower lip wobbling with anger and pain.
"I see." Her shaky voice replies.
"Haha! What was I even thinking? I shouldn't have come. Really." Amy's eyes widen at Aria's words!
"Aria. No. What do you mean!? You're so fun and they liked your company—"
"Not Winter. I know it. She's been giving me bad looks I- I don't know how to explain. I shouldn't have come. I'm fine, Amy. Enjoy the trip and I'm sorry for what happened today." Aria stumbles on her words.
"Aria, please! Listen to— what are you doing?" Amy asks, flabbergasted. She watches Aria pack her stuff at the speed of light while waiting for the signal, flailing her phone around in the air.
"It's clear that none of you wanted me here, Amy. It's alright, really! I'm okay!" The poor, accused girl smiles through her tears and says.
"Oh! How lucky! My flight is booked, hehe!" Aria smiles again, this time, pissing Amy off!
"Aria! You're not going anywhere!" Amy shouts unintentionally!
"Amy!? Aria! Open the door!" Nick's voice over the bangs on the door alerts both women. Amy gains her composure back and opens the door. Nick bursts inside, analysing the situation.
Well, things settle down and they come to a decision. Aria's stubbornness wins. Nick, feeling slightly guilty, offers to drop Aria at the airport under the pretext of keeping her safe.
"I'm sorry, Aria. I didn't mean to doubt you." Winter says to the blush-faced Asian girl.
"Haha! It's fine! I kinda saw this coming, really. Bye bye! All the best for the exams, everyone! Bye!" Entering the car with Nick, Aria waves at them. Amy, who was too embarrassed for blowing up and spilling the beans doesn't even lift her head.
"Amy. It's alright. We understand where you're coming from. All I gotta say is...this is just the beginning of misunderstandings. Choose your friends wisely." Winter dives to Amy's height and hugs her dearly, sharing the words of comfort. Somewhere in her heart, Amy found solace in Winter's words. What's bound to happen had happened.
Two hours pass, and it's almost dinner time when Nick enters the hotel again. Amy is waiting for him right outside his door. They make eye contact in the corridor, his walk speeds up. Amy senses something off in Nick's expression.
Before Amy could ask what was wrong, Nick blurts out,
"Winter is right. Something is off about Aria that we just can't keep our finger on. I- I don't know why but she kept touching my thigh while talking. It's inappropriate, but it seemed so friendly— I think I'm just imagining shit. Winter's words must've influenced the way I'm looking at Aria now. I'm sorry, Amy."
