Chapter 3
Identity
***
POV: Lia Salvador
I didn’t know how I managed to sleep that night.
After what happened in the café, I can believe that I am able to rest. Maybe, because Renz never left my side – even after he called the police.
He is truly mad, and the coldness in his eyes as he looks at the two maniacs is intensifying. However, everything is just too blurry for me.
It is too traumatizing, but I must be strong – especially when Cali hears the news and calls me. She is already blaming herself for what happened to me.
I just assured her that I am okay.
I let out a deep sigh before I got up from my bed and started preparing myself. I still need to meet with Mrs. Go. I want to go to the café and test myself – like what the psychologist suggested – to check my own reactions.
I am walking without thinking as I walk out of my room.
And before I realize it, my eyes widen when I remember that Renz sleeps in my apartment!
“Oh God!” I softly murmured.
My heart starts to beat a bit louder and faster this time. I tiptoed into my living room. The first thing I see is the blanket that is neatly folded on the sofa. I swallow hard. I look around and realize that he isn’t around anymore.
I let out a deep sigh.
My heart sinks as I realize that I am discreetly hoping that we will share a breakfast together.
“I don’t even properly thank him…” I said under my breath before I continued walking towards the kitchen.
However, I take an abrupt stop when I see that there’s already a cooked breakfast for me – some bacon, scrambled eggs, and fried rice. My stomach growls, but my heart is fluttering with joy.
Especially when I see a small note under my plate. I instantly took it.
Hi! I’m sorry if I rummage through your fridge. I take the initiative to cook you breakfast. I hope you like it. I need to go to work. Take care. ~ Renz
I bit my lower lip as I read the small note before hugging it tightly. A bright smile instantly escapes from my lips, and my heart wavers with too much giddiness and excitement.
I might be crazy now for feeling this way despite what happened last night.
“You might be doomed now, Lia.” I told myself, before eating my breakfast with a blissful heart.
“Are you really okay?” Cali worriedly asked me the moment I walked into the café.
I am glad that there’s nothing wrong with the way I deal with the place. Maybe because of Cali’s reaction.
We are still waiting for Mrs. Go, and Cali takes the chance to talk to her – more like interrogate her.
I nod my head and give her a small smile.
“I’m fine, Cali. Don’t worry.” I assured her for the nth time.
Cali heaves a breathy sigh.
“It is just a good thing that Renz appeared and saved you. He’s your knight in shining armor.” Cali dreamily commented all of a sudden, and I couldn’t help but blush.
Cali looks at her with a teasing smile.
“Your heart might be fluttering now, huh?” She suddenly turned into her funny and playful self while looking at me.
I scoff at her and try to mask my real self.
“W-What are you t-talking about?” I slightly cringed and looked away.
But Cali just chuckled at my reaction.
“Don’t worry, I won’t spill that you like him.” She giggled at that.
My eyes widen at her statement, and I am about to correct her when the bell rings.
I am expecting Mrs. Go to enter the place, but I bit my lower lip when I realized that she isn’t.
My jaw slightly dropped when I saw Renz, walking confidently towards us.
He isn’t wearing his usual simple and plain V-neck shirt and ripped jeans but is in his gleaming suit and tie. His pitch-black hair isn’t disheveled but is brushed neatly instead.
It is like he is a different person, a more formal one.
Now, that he is wearing those formal clothes, it dawns on her.
I swallow hard as I mentally shake my head.
“No! It can’t be!” I whispered to myself.
And it just hits me, who he really is.
And this is just so bad.
“Let’s talk.” He coldly stated what he manifested in front of me.
He is serious, and I can feel the authority and power he holds, which he surely has with him.
How can’t I realize who he is?!
“A-About what?” I stammered while I couldn’t even stop myself from staring at him.
He’s handsome, alright.
However, as he grooms like this – his appeal intensifies, and it is truly asking for anyone’s attention. It is like no one can ever dare say ‘no’ to him.
And above all, he is Lawrence David McGregor, for goodness’ sake!
The multibillionaire business tycoon.
An elite and sought-after bachelor who is part of my circle – a part of my past life… And I know that he already knows who I am.
“Are you sure that you want me to say these things here?” He coldly inquired.
I bit my lower lip and stood up.
However, before I can even offer for us to talk privately, he slowly bends his right knee on the floor.
Cali covers her mouth with her both hands as I swallow hard and is stunned at his huge gesture.
“What the- What are you d-doing?” I asked when I finally found my tongue.
My heart begins to thump faster and faster – especially when I see him get something inside his pocket.
I swallow hard when I see the small red velvet box in front of me. He instantly opens it, and my jaw just drops.
Cali even shrieks at her side – I bet she didn’t see this coming either.
My eyes move toward the pear-shaped diamond ring inside the small box.
“Marry me, Lia.”
With those words he just said, I believe it is the most shocking thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
‘What the hell did he just say?’ I mentally asked.
