Ch. 45Want something more

"Yes?"
Indra fell silent upon hearing the request that came from the woman standing before him. His steps came to a halt as they reached the workspace he occupied.
Dinda then walked over and looked out the window with a sad expression, not expecting that she had just voiced her small request to the man now standing behind her.
She took a deep breath, trying to ease the tightness in her chest.
"Stop seeing that girl. Let me handle everything until our agreement is over," she said.
"A-agreement?" Indra widened his eyes, seemingly surprised by his wife’s words.
He shook his head firmly.
"Don’t forget that we also have an agreement in this relationship. I just want to add something — that you’re not allowed to see other women while our deal is still in place."
Dinda tried to explain without turning around. She was certain that her face was a mess, likely on the verge of tears. She gently rubbed her stomach.
"I know you had a relationship with her in the past, but now… you’re my husband, legally and religiously," she said with a slight tremble in her voice. "I hope you’ll stay true to that."
For a moment, silence filled the room. Dinda stood quietly after saying the things that had weighed on her, things she could no longer hold back.
As for Indra, he remained frozen, stunned by what he had just heard. It dawned on him how uncomfortable Dinda must have felt because of him. A wave of guilt hit him — he had failed to understand what she was going through.
"What are you… Ah! I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I didn’t mean to—"
"No, it’s fine," Dinda quickly cut him off. "I have to go. Sorry for disturbing your time."
Without giving Indra a chance to respond, Dinda walked away, her hurried footsteps echoing in the hallway.
Indra was taken aback. He stepped forward, instinctively trying to stop his wife from leaving.
"Wait! Dind—"
SLAM!
His words and movements halted instantly as Dinda disappeared behind the door, closing it with a loud bang.
Indra exhaled sharply, feeling like the air had been knocked out of him by the sudden turn of events.
"She’s really hurt," he murmured.
Not stopping there, Indra rushed to reopen the door, hoping to chase after Dinda and offer an explanation. But just as he opened it, his eyes widened in surprise — someone was standing right in front of him.
“P-Papa?” Indra blinked. “Ah, sorry… Leader.”
He quickly bowed in respect to his father-in-law.
"What’s going on, Indra?" his father-in-law asked gently, his voice calm but laced with curiosity. "Why are you in such a rush?"
Indra swallowed hard, searching for the right words. "It’s nothing, Sir."
Anggoro observed him closely, as if trying to read his mind. "I see…"
Indra nodded quickly, trying to hide his turmoil. But his heart was still racing from the tension that had just passed. What was he supposed to do now?
"Oh, by the way. I heard Dinda came here. Did you see her?" his father-in-law asked, his voice still calm, though his eyes were sharp.
Indra felt another jolt of anxiety. "Uh, yes, Sir. She just left after we talked."
"Really?" Anggoro sounded surprised. "Why didn’t she stop by to see me first?"
Indra hesitated, trying to come up with an excuse. "I—I’m not sure. But we’ll visit the house soon."
Anggoro's piercing gaze made Indra even more nervous. It was clear he didn’t fully believe him. How was he going to get out of this without raising more suspicion?
"Actually, my work is almost done, so I thought I’d take Dinda out this weekend," Indra added.
He tried to conceal his anxiety, afraid his father-in-law would grow more suspicious. His concern for Dinda’s emotional state only made matters worse.
"I see. Alright then. I’ll see you this weekend," Anggoro said with a calm smile, finishing his tea.
He then returned to his room, leaving Indra standing there, still in a daze.
Phew…
Indra took a deep breath, trying to calm himself from the overwhelming tension.
"That was close," he muttered, rubbing his chest in relief, glad to have gotten out of that tight spot — even though he had been prepared to be doubted by Anggoro.

Meanwhile, in another place, Dinda was lost in thought as she stared out the window of the taxi she was riding in. After leaving her husband’s office, she had decided to go straight home despite the bad mood clouding her mind.
During the ride, she tried to hold back tears that had been threatening to spill. She didn’t want to embarrass herself by crying in public, especially in a taxi.
“Hold it in, Dinda! Don’t cry. Don’t make a scene!” she told herself.
But the more she held them back, the more intense the pain became. The image of her husband with another woman haunted her.
She frowned slightly, as if remembering something. “It feels the same… like when I caught Kevin with Bianca.”
She clenched the hem of her dress. “Damn it! Why am I letting them affect me like this!?”
It was unbearable — seeing her own husband being affectionate with another woman. Her heart felt like it was going to stop. She was paralyzed by the pain.
Dinda shook her head, trying to collect herself. "No… no! I can't keep going like this! Even if our marriage is just a formality."
She wiped her tear-stained face. “Yes! I need to be strong! No one else is going to take control of my life!”
Her hand moved quickly, reaching into her bag for her phone. Her slender fingers danced across the screen, typing a message and sending it to someone.
A small smile appeared on her lips as she saw the grey check marks turn blue. She breathed deeply, feeling relieved for taking a step she believed was right.
“I’m sorry… maybe I’ve become too greedy,” she murmured, hugging her phone to her chest.
