Ch. 44Dinda's request

"What are they doing?" Dinda squinted her eyes, trying to get a clearer view of what she was seeing. "Especially with—"
Her words trailed off, as if she couldn’t even bring herself to say the name of the woman currently with her own husband.
For a moment, she stood frozen, overwhelmed by the tightness suddenly gripping her chest. How could she not be?
She had tried multiple times to suppress her feelings for Indra, but frustratingly, those feelings only grew stronger and more uncontrollable.
"I should just act normally. After all, this marriage is merely a formality. I shouldn’t be feeling this kind of ache watching them together…"
Dinda gently caressed her noticeably swollen belly, her gaze softening as she looked down at her unborn child.
"That’s right, he’s not your real father, sweetheart. But why does Mama’s heart hurt this much?"
While Dinda was drowning in her own storm of emotions, Indra was battling his own fury. Especially at the sight of the woman before him, flashing a sweet smile.
"Haa... I don’t know why, but seeing your angry face like this only makes me miss you more," Sonia said, resting her chin on her hand.
"Seeing you like this makes it hard for me not to steal you away from that woman."
"Tch! Keep dreaming, Sonia. I told you to stop bothering us. You've already done enough with your manipulations. I won't let you go any further."
Sonia chuckled at her ex-boyfriend’s warning. She showed no fear at all.
Clapping slowly, still amused, she replied, "So you do have a romantic side after all."
Indra glared sharply at her. He realized now that words alone wouldn't work with Sonia. She couldn’t be warned off so easily.
Without realizing it, Indra had already wasted too much time entertaining her nonsense.
Without another word, he stood up.
"Where are you going? We’re not done talking," Sonia’s tone shifted to seriousness.
Indra exhaled sharply and met her gaze coldly.
"I have to go. I have work to do," he said firmly, turning to leave.
But his steps halted when he saw a figure standing tall not far away.
Sonia, too, was taken aback when she noticed another person had been watching them.
"D-Dinda??"
Indra’s eyes widened, heart pounding.
"W-Weren’t you out for a walk?" he asked.
The air thickened with tension. Both Indra and Sonia froze, waiting for Dinda’s reaction.
She blinked slowly and took a deep breath.
"Ah, yes. I was at the mall, just strolling around. Then I thought I’d stop by the office to see you, but..."
She shook her head, her expression blank.
"But you weren’t there, and instead I found you here. With her."
As Dinda shifted her gaze to Sonia, the other woman quickly looked away, unwilling to meet the eyes of the woman who now held the title of Indra’s wife.
Indra took a deep breath to ease the tension constricting his chest.
"I'm sorry I didn’t inform you. We were just having a casual conversation, and I was about to head back to the office anyway," he tried to explain, clearly feeling guilty for causing her distress.
"Come on… have you had lunch?" Indra offered, hoping they could walk away from the situation.
But instead of answering, Dinda stayed rooted to the spot, her eyes still fixed on Sonia.
Indra noticed her discomfort. He could see the disappointment in her eyes.
"Aren’t you coming?" he asked, looking at her intently.
Dinda exhaled deeply before finally replying, "Let’s go."
Yet, after a few steps, she turned back.
"I know this might sound ridiculous. But... could you stop meeting with my husband? Especially without my knowledge. If there’s something you need, you can contact me directly."
THUMP!
Sonia was clearly stunned by Dinda’s words, which sounded more like a veiled threat.
She furrowed her brows, staring at Dinda’s piercing gaze.
Trying to compose herself, Sonia blinked and said,
"Ah! Alright, I understand."
A faint smirk appeared on Dinda’s face—satisfaction at Sonia’s reluctant agreement.
"Good. In that case, we’ll be going now. Thank you."
Dinda turned and walked off, leaving Sonia sitting speechless, watching the married couple leave.
Sonia watched them with narrowed eyes. She never expected Dinda—the woman she had once dismissed as naive and self-absorbed—to confront her like that.
Dinda was starting to build clear boundaries between herself and Indra.
Sonia stared at their fading figures in scorn.
"Tch! I underestimated that woman," she muttered bitterly.
"If I want to keep using them, I’ll have to do something."

"So, are we still getting lunch? I still have time left on my break."
Silence.
Dinda didn’t respond. Only the sound of their footsteps echoed through the main lobby, now quiet as the other employees had returned to work.
They were now back at the company building. Dinda had remained silent the entire way, ignoring the few things Indra had said to her.
Indra sighed, realizing just how disappointed Dinda must be.
"Alright... I’m sorry," he murmured quietly.
Unexpectedly, that simple apology made Dinda stop in her tracks. She turned to face him, her expression unreadable.
"I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about Sonia. She—"
"It’s fine. I understand…" Dinda cut him off, unwilling to hear that name spoken again—especially from her husband.
Indra raised his eyebrows, confused by her reaction.
"You’re not mad?" he asked.
Dinda took a long breath. Everything felt so heavy. Her heart and mind were in conflict, and her emotions were taking over.
"No, I’m not mad," she answered calmly.
"But... can you stop responding to that woman too?”
