Ch. 9Chapter 8

They stood facing each other in the middle of the garden.

"Don't hesitate to hurt me," Chaos said seriously. Blaire just nodded, preparing herself for what was to come.

"Okay, show me what you got," he challenged her. They locked eyes for a moment, and without warning, Blaire kicked him, but Chaos quickly blocked her with his hands, then pushed her foot back, causing her to perform a backflip and land smoothly.

"Not bad," he commented, getting serious again, his lilac eyes returning to meet Blaire's green ones. "Let the real fight begin."

They started fighting, neither willing to give in. Blaire managed to hit Chaos in the stomach with a kick, causing him to step back, but he quickly recovered. Blaire received successive punches, while she countered with blocks using her hands. She kept retreating while Chaos kept advancing.

Blaire felt her back hit the tree, so she couldn't retreat further. She didn't notice Chaos's movement and almost got punched in the face, but he stopped just short. He was only an inch away from hitting her. She smirked because he couldn't bring himself to punch her in the face. Seizing the opportunity, she immediately kneed him in the groin.

"Fuck!" he cursed loudly, doubling over in pain while clutching his crotch, his face contorted in agony.

"Don't hesitate to hurt me," Blaire said again to him.

He moved away from her, but he was unsteady on his feet as he walked. He sat down on the grass. Blaire approached him, feeling regret, and sat beside him. She noticed that his neck and face were red. Veins popped on his forehead and neck.

He looked at her, and she saw that his crimson eyes were misty, as if he were about to cry. She also felt her chest tighten as her eyes turned blue. Chaos seemed puzzled as he saw Blaire's eyes also tear up while looking at him.

"Hey, what’s the problem?" he asked, concerned. He seemed flustered because Blaire was now crying.

"N-nothing," she replied tearfully. He cupped her cheeks and wiped away the tears with his index fingers. "Shhhh… Why are you crying?" he asked, trying to calm her down.

"I don't know. Just… just don't cry," Blaire whimpered because all she felt was the heaviness in her chest, knowing she needed to let it out.

He chuckled softly, and his eyes returned to Blaire's green ones. She felt her chest loosen, replaced by joy. She smiled at him, causing him to chuckle and smile back, understanding what was happening.

Chaos's face then turned serious, replaced by awe. "Beautiful," he murmured to her. Blaire's eyes turned red again, her heart beating faster.

"Uh... th-thank you," she replied, feeling awkward but still responding to him, avoiding eye contact.

The surroundings fell silent, with no one speaking. They just sat on the grass, observing their surroundings.

"Where did you learn to fight?" he broke the silence, curiosity in his voice.

"From my auntie," Blaire replied softly, looking straight ahead. Her eyes turned lilac again because of the serious atmosphere between the two of them.

Chaos stood up, so did Blaire. "Let’s go, I will teach you how to use a sword," he said seriously before walking away. She followed him without complaint.

They arrived at a room with swords mounted on the wall.

"Choose your sword," Chaos instructed. Blaire scanned the room and was drawn to a golden sword. She approached it and immediately took it from the wall.

She twirled the sword in her hand because it was lightweight. She noticed there were three stones on its hilt: a gem on one side, gold on the other, and a diamond in the middle. She then looked at Chaos.

"Good choice," he commented. She saw that Chaos also held a white sword. "Okay, let’s start, and be careful." Blaire simply nodded and took her position in front of him.

Chaos made the first move. He was about to stab her when she managed to parry it with her sword. He kept attacking, and she kept blocking. "Come on, Threes, fight me," he challenged. Blaire only now noticed him calling her Threes and found it surprisingly pleasant.

Her eyes widened when his sword was at her neck. She wanted to kick herself for losing concentration again.

He lowered his sword. "Don't let your enemy take advantage, Threes," he advised Blaire seriously. She just nodded and took her stance again. She took a deep breath and immediately attacked Chaos. Blaire's movements were fast, and she saw Chaos struggling to block her sword.

Blaire didn't stop her attacks until her sword slipped past his defenses and she immediately hit his pulse point with her sword, causing him to release hers.

She looked at Chaos, who was now panting and looking back at her. "Fast learner, huh?" he praised. Blaire's lips curved up, and she didn't say anything.

"Let’s take a rest," he said, sitting on the floor. Blaire sat beside him because she also felt tired.

"Where did you come from?" Chaos asked, turning to her.

She looked at him. "Why?" she countered.

"Nothing, I'm just curious," he replied, turning his gaze in another direction.

Blaire sighed deeply. "From Ogygia…" she uttered softly.

Chaos glanced at her, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Ogygia? I don't know that place, but it's quite familiar," he said, his face showing his puzzlement. Blaire just nodded, not saying anything more. Chaos stood up, and so did she.

"We're done, but I might train you again next time," he said to her before walking away.

The girl returned the sword they had both used, then left the room. She walked down the hallway, ignoring the leering gazes of the students. She noticed Aubrey up ahead, who also glanced at her. Aubrey grinned and immediately greeted her.

"Yieeee! Who was your trainer, Snow?" she inquired.

"Four," she replied curtly. Aubrey squealed, causing her to furrow her brow.

"You mean, Prince Chaos?" she confirmed with excitement. Blaire just continued walking, ignoring Aubrey. She noticed that Aubrey followed her.

"Do you know, Snow? My trainer is such a gentleman. His name is Chanon Calvero, eeeiiii! He's really handsome," Aubrey gushed. Nonetheless, Blaire didn't pay attention to Aubrey's chatter and just kept walking.

They reached the dorm and headed straight to the kitchen. She drank water, and so did Aubrey.

"Snow, let's go for a walk. It's only 3 pm, we can't sleep yet, right? Come on, agree," Aubrey pleaded.

"No," Blaire grumbled tiredly.

"Come on, please? We'll also visit Scarlet, maybe they want to join us too. Come on, Snow, agree," she insisted, so Blaire looked at her.

"I'm tired, Aubrey, so you guys go," she replied without enthusiasm.

"Oh! You're such a killjoy, Snow. It's just this once," Aubrey said dramatically, then pouted.

She sighed deeply before speaking. "Fine, I'll agree." She had no choice because Aubrey was really persistent.

Aubrey quickly looked up and her eyes sparkled. "I knew it, you couldn't resist me," she squealed.

"Oh!" Blaire was about to smack her, but Aubrey quickly ran off and left the kitchen. She just shook her head and followed Aubrey to her room.
