Ch. 21Chapter 20

Aubrey’s P.O.V

I'm nervous for Snow because she's been standing in the middle for a while now. The others are getting impatient. But I know she can do it, I trust her. She's my idol even though she rarely shows emotions.

My attention is solely focused on her. My mouth falls open as Snow starts to glow with red, green, blue, gray, and white lights. Those lights disappear, replaced by violet, then gold.

Everyone falls silent, our mouths agape as the golden light disappears, accompanied by a collective gasp of surprise and wonder. Snow's eyes open, now golden.

My hair stands on end from the powerful presence I feel now, and I know most of us feel it too. I know it's coming from Snow. I feel like I'm holding my breath, and my knees are trembling. I can't bring myself to look Snow in the eyes because it's too overwhelming, so I just close mine.

I open my eyes again, feeling relieved when Snow's eyes return to lilac. The overwhelming feeling I had earlier is gone. Yes, Snow's presence is strong now, and I'm used to it, but what just happened was different.

But why didn't her guardian appear? There should have been one. What does this mean?

Surely, we weren't hallucinating because we all saw how Snow's body lit up. Before our guardians appear, we all light up, but with her—nothing.

I glance at my classmates, and they look just as puzzled. Everyone is furrowing their brows, and I know they're all confused. I look at HM, but he doesn't react as if he knows something we don't.

"Lady Blaire? You may return to your seat," HM says softly. The other students start whispering.

"What's going on? Why doesn't she have a guardian?"

"Tss, she really doesn't have one because she's weak."

Tss, so what if she doesn't? Will it upset their stomachs? Their mouths are so foul, it's annoying! I feel like sewing them shut.

We're all surprised when Snow suddenly appears in front of us with no expression on her face. I even grab my chest because it feels like my heart jumped out from shock.

"Congrats, Blaire! Even though you don't have a guardian, congrats anyway," Lucy says like a child. She's right. Even if Snow didn't summon a guardian, we should still congratulate our friend.

I stand up and hug her immediately. "Congrats, Snow!" I say enthusiastically, but the truth is, I haven't really recovered from what happened earlier. I step back from the hug and meet her cold eyes. What else can I expect?

She just nods and goes back to stand next to Chaos, who now looks at Snow with a furrowed brow. I want to scold him because Snow might melt, but I better not, or I might get burned by fire. I don't want to go bald yet.

I return to my seat and focus my attention back to the front. The summoning of other students continues until it's finished.

"Students of Impius Academy, I would like to congratulate all of you! Your guardians are unparalleled and admirable. Train yourselves to use your guardians, I know they're strong, and I know you can fill that gap. Don't tire yourselves in training because all your hard work will pay off. I know you're tired, so you can all go back to your dormitories," HM says in a long speech. We all stand up and start walking. We leave the arena, and it's already dusk.

"All right, Blaire, Aubrey, we're going back to our dorm," Scarllet says with a smile. I smile back and look at Snow.

My gosh! Chaos leans in and whispers something in Snow's ear. And he even nips it lightly! I might die of joy. He didn't escape my eyes, he seems sharp.

I look at Snow, and she seems embarrassed, while Chaos acts innocent. They're both so cute.

Snow walks out, so I chuckle. "Okay, we'll go ahead. Snow seems embarrassed," I say with a grin. They nod, so I quickly follow Snow.

We reach our dorm, but I don't find her in the living room, she must be in her room. I enter our room and change, then I go downstairs to prepare dinner for the two of us.

I cook stir-fried mushrooms because it's Snow's favorite. I also cook chicken adobo and rice. I spend an hour cooking and then prepare the plates. I quickly go upstairs and head to Snow's room.

"Snow! Let's eat!" I say while knocking on the door. She soon opens it. I meet her face, looking like she just woke up.

She fell asleep so quickly. I ended up disturbing her. I smiled at her and walked ahead.

When we reached the table, we immediately devoured the food. But a question crossed my mind from earlier.

"Snow? Do you really not have a guardian?" I curiously asked her, still chewing my food. She gave me a cold stare in response. I just shrugged. Why did I even ask? Based on her expression, she seemed unwilling to discuss it, so I quickly spoke up.

"Forget it," I said with a shrug. She just redirected her attention back to her food and continued eating.

We finished our meal, and the whole time was silent. I volunteered to wash the dishes, and she went upstairs.

As soon as I finished washing, I headed straight to my room. I took a shower and got dressed.

I'm meeting my dear Chanon in the garden today. I can't wait.

After showering, I quickly put on a black cotton shorts and a large white t-shirt. I combed my hair and applied perfume.

I immediately left the room. I went downstairs and finally out of our dormitory. I nervously headed to the garden.

When I arrived, I immediately felt the fresh breeze. It's so cold. Maybe I'm early because Chanon isn't here yet.

I hugged myself tightly because it's really cold. I rubbed my arms to generate warmth.

"Goodness!" I screamed in surprise when I felt a breeze on my ear. Then I heard a faint laughter, so I quickly turned around.

My mouth fell open in shock when I saw the figure in front of me, and his soft laughter added to his charm. It's just Chanon. I thought there was a ghost.

"Why are you scaring me?" I asked irritably. Of course, it's just pretend. He stopped laughing and just looked at me critically. I suddenly felt self-conscious about my appearance.

"Sorry, I’m late," he said softly, so I just smiled. I'm really weak, whatever.

"It's okay," I said. I sat down on the grass, and he did the same.

"Are you cold?" I turned to him, but that was the wrong move because our faces were almost touching.

Fuck, I feel like I'm going to cross my eyes. I also smelled his breath, and it smelled good.

We stayed like that for a few seconds, and then I had to look away because I couldn't handle it. He's also staring too intensely.

"U-uhm… a little..." I felt embarrassed. The surroundings fell silent, and I just took a deep breath when he suddenly pulled me towards him—causing me to fall into his solid chest. My heart rate increased, so I couldn't resist because it felt like I couldn't move my entire body.

I felt his arms wrap around me, and I thought I might die!

We stayed like that, and I could hear his heartbeat. I also felt warmth spreading through my body. Chanon's warmth.
