Ch. 16Chapter 15

Blaire woke up to the sunlight but still didn't open her eyes. She just hugged her pillow tightly.

"Why is my pillow so hard?" Blaire wondered. She buried her face in it and smiled at its fragrance.

She woke up again when her pillow moved, so she slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the sturdy chest. She blinked as she realized it wasn't really a pillow, so she slowly lifted her gaze. Her eyes widened, and her mouth fell open at how close her face was to the young man's face.

It felt like her soul escaped. She didn't even realize she was holding her breath. She couldn't even break free from the young man's embrace, who was now looking into her eyes and lowering his gaze until his eyes landed on her lips.

"Good morning," he hoarsely greeted her, inhaling her scent even though he had just woken up.

"G-good m-morning," she struggled to respond.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked teasingly.

"I-I'm fine," she stammered.

"Hmmm, good," he said. Then, he suddenly panicked and hugged her tightly like a newlywed couple. She felt like her soul was about to break apart when he suddenly jumped down, so she held onto his neck tightly. Despite wanting to curse at the young man for not giving her a warning before jumping down, she couldn't do anything because of her nerves.

She felt them land on the ground, but she couldn't move because of the fear she felt earlier. She still held onto the young man's neck with her eyes closed. Her eyes turned lavender.

"Hey, Threes? Are you okay?" Chaos asked the girl, concerned. She just shook her head, causing the young man to regret being so impulsive.

"I'm sorry," he sincerely apologized to her. He looked at her, who was still buried in his neck. She looked up and met his lavender eyes. The color was new to him, so he couldn't determine what emotion she was showing, but based on her pale lips, she seemed scared.

Blaire also saw the regret in Chaos's eyes, so she buried her face in his neck again and calmed herself. She felt the young man start walking while carrying her.

When her nerves finally calmed down, she finally managed to open her mouth. Her eyes turned back to lilac. "I-I'll get down," she said softly, looking at the young man. He nodded, so she quickly got down.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He still had concern in his eyes. She just nodded and started walking, so the young man followed her.

They walked quietly while looking around. They stopped when they felt a strange presence. They glanced at each other before surveying their surroundings.

They saw a creature emerge from behind the tree. Blaire grimaced at the creature's face. It was ugly to look at. This creature is called an Oni. It appears similar in size and stature to Orcs and is a favored demon among veteran shamans. They are characterized by their crimson red skin, a pair of horns erupting from its foreheads, and overdeveloped upper and lower canines. Though they appear bright, Onis are thought to be unusually slow-witted, with less intelligence than the average Mite.

"Ngoorrfff!" the creature growled. They both became alert when it started running towards them.

Chaos quickly conjured a fireball and threw it at the enemy, but it dodged. Blaire also threw an ice ball and hit it in the shoulder, but it still didn't flinch.

The enemy moved quickly and punched Blaire in the stomach, causing her to fly far away and crash to the ground. It felt like her insides were shattered, and she spat out blood because of the strength of the punch she received.

She looked ahead and saw Chaos fighting it. Her eyes widened as the young man struggled, and he was quickly overwhelmed, and the creature bit him after throwing him.

Blaire stood up despite the pain. She didn't expect the enemy to be so strong. It charged at her again, so she prepared herself. It aimed a punch, but she quickly dodged. She kicked it hard, sending it flying far away and crashing to the ground, but it quickly got up. She charged at it again and threw an ice ball. It dodged some of her attacks, but not all.

When she got closer, she forcefully grabbed its two horns and kneed it, causing it to groan. She was about to strike it, but she felt something pierce her stomach. She slowly looked down and saw that she was impaled by its long horns.

Her muscles felt like they were breaking as it pulled its horns from her stomach, and she didn't notice its punch coming. She immediately felt her knees weaken.

Blaire's eyelids grew heavy, and she eventually collapsed to the ground. Before she was engulfed by darkness, she saw Chaos standing up and immediately engaging the enemy.

Chaos was furious as he attacked the enemy for what it did to Blaire. Only three lives remained for the girl in the game. Chaos drew his fire sword and swiftly sliced its arm, causing it to yelp in pain.

He kicked it forcefully, sending it flying to the ground. When it was down, he quickly mounted it and mercilessly stabbed its chest with his blazing sword. He looked at it panting heavily, slowly fading away like sand blown by the wind. He then pulled out the sword.

He stood up and approached Blaire, who now had her eyes open. Her wound on the stomach was also gone. "Are you okay?" he asked the girl, concerned.

Blaire just nodded and checked her pulse. She bit her lower lip because only two lives remained. She stood up, and the young man supported her. She looked around and couldn't see the enemy.

"Where is it?" she asked the young man.

"It's gone," he replied softly. She nodded and they started walking again.

"Where the hell is that tree house?" she complained. She was getting impatient and wanted to go home because her body was tired.

She rubbed her throat when she felt thirsty. "Four, let's find some water first," she said, glancing at the young man. He just nodded, and they started looking for a stream they could drink from.

Blaire was grateful when they found one, and they immediately drank using their hands. When they quenched their thirst, they continued walking.

They saw a tall tree ahead but its body was small. It didn't have any branches. They looked up and felt relieved when they saw a small house at the top. There was a golden flag on top of the roof, almost invisible due to the height of the tree.

They were about to approach when other players suddenly appeared from different directions. The princesses and princes were also among them.

They all looked at each other and quickly flew upwards. Blaire remained on the ground, watching Chaos. She was also ready to protect him if anything went wrong.

She saw Chaos throwing fire blades at the other players. Some dodged, while others were hit, causing them to disappear quickly because they only had one life left.

Blaire noticed Miles throwing a water ball at Chaos, so she immediately threw an ice ball at the attack. It turned into ice and exploded instantly. Miles glanced at her but quickly returned his attention to the game.

Blaire saw that it would take a while for Chaos to reach the top because he was also being held back by other players. She invisibilized herself and concealed her presence carefully. She flew carefully upwards.

She reached the top without being noticed by the other players. She wasted no time and removed her invisibility, quickly grabbing the golden flag.

She saw the eyes of the other players widen, and Chaos was the only one smiling. She also smiled at the reaction of the majority.

Suddenly, the surroundings changed, and they were now inside the arena, with her still holding the flag. The surroundings erupted in cheers, and Chaos approached her.
