Ch. 22Chapter 22: Love Card

But I just faced him boldly. "Why not? As long as there is life, there is hope. You are the only one who could tell his true identity, so you are his only hope."

"And because of helping me... you expect me to give that as a replacement?"

Because of the lack of tone in his speech, I could not guess what he wanted to point out. That's the blend of his face, that's the blend of his voice. Even his voice has no color at all, always very cold or otherwise serious. Shocking.

I stood up from my seat and faced him with folded arms, "Why not too? I've been a great help to you, so why shouldn't I expect something like that?"

"What if I don't?" he asked again.

I raised an eyebrow because of the look, "Fine. There are many ways to find your tickle in the crotch."

"As if you can find it."

"Why not again? It's just hidden somewhere. At any time, I can grab it and then go straight to chop-chop it."

"Crazy," he almost stammered. "You can leave me now. I'll rest."

"Can't. I'll take care of you." I went to the table with my eyebrows up and down. "By the way, anyway, every way, milky way... this, I brought you fruits to strengthen your eggs—I mean, your body!"

Magnus just looked at me with a frown, he didn't respond because of the momentary silence around me that also made me frown. "Why can you look like that? Don't worry, I didn't steal it from somewhere."

"Then how did you bring that here?"

I faced him with a smile, "I wrapped some fruits from your kitchen, I took your carriage keys, I drove away, take note, it's midnight! Because in the morning, there are workers of your packhouse that might see me and suspect me why I am caring for their Alpha that much. Don't thank me anymore— you're welcome to me."

"Not concerned, huh."

I was suddenly stopped by what he said. There's something really wrong with this assuming Alpha.

I even noticed that he let out a heavy sigh at the same time as he looked away from me. I was about to ask him if he wanted me to peel another fruit for him but I stopped when the door suddenly opened.

An elderly man appeared with a big smile on his face while his two arms were still in the air as if he was expecting a big hug from the dying patient.

"Good afternoon, my dear nephew!"

Oh, his uncle?

"Uncle Liam." I noticed Magnus' simple nod to his very happy uncle.

Omg, I told you so, Mia. Magnus' bloodline is full of handsomeness. They are like twins but one is older. Shocking. The freshness of this uncle. Is this a sugar daddy?

Kidding!

This time, Magnus really tried sitting down and he didn't fail. Laughing, his uncle approached him and gave each other a manly hug, as if they were just a troop who knew nothing to do in the world but to hang up.

"You're going ahead of my time, that's not good. I'm supposed to be the first to get some girls up there," he joked to his nephew and then laughed as loudly as if there was no tomorrow.

“They wouldn't do that. Mom is there to keep an eye on you," Magnus added.

What made his uncle laugh is that he took it seriously. It's really shocking how these guys talk.

"You really know who I am, huh."

"Of course."

"Anyways..." Magnus' uncle sat down on the couch in front of him. "I checked your packhouse and you literally made me mad, Magnus. Why did you let my blood spread on the floor like that? You wasted it just like that," he suddenly laughed again, joking.

“It's a luxury floor, anyway. Still picky?” Magnus replied.

While laughing, the uncle winked at his nephew, "But my blood is gold." After that, he cleared his throat, and seemed to have something else to say. "I know, you already know who is the person behind all of this."

I noticed Magnus' sigh, "Yeah."

"Can I help you with anything?"

"Just leave it to me."

"Are you sure about that?"

"As always."

"Is that so? Just make sure you don't spill my blood again."

"He will pay for it, then." I heard a slightly joking tone in Magnus' voice.

Phew.

His father suddenly laughed out loud which surprised me a little. "Nah. My nephew. You really make me laugh. You're the best!"

It's crazy how these guys joke with each other. It's like I'm in a word puzzle, I can't understand them.

And because I was so helpful, Magnus' uncle ignored me. Maybe he thinks I'm just a supporter who doesn't need attention.

Well, that's the truth, Mia.

I bowed a little and stepped back to convey my departure to them. I set my feet towards the door but suddenly I was enveloped in trepidation when Uncle Liam's serious voice suddenly echoed, "Wait.", causing my entire body to stop. I slowly faced them and I am not wrong when I saw how Magnus' uncle would stare at the basket placed on the side of the table.

Another dead one.

"Is it Artemis who gave it to you?" he asked Magnus.

"No."

"Then who? I mean, it's just surprising someone would take the courage to give you something you hate the most."

Magnus was not able to answer immediately because Uncle Liam stood up and went to the place of that thing. I bit my fingers little by little when I watched how he opened the seal and I completely closed my eyes when I saw him taking the card inside.

"The one who gave it to you is very dedicated, huh. There is still a love card. It turns out that the lover is now a woman," Uncle Liam laughed.

Even though it was difficult, I just opened my eyes again and observed how the pink glitter shines on the card and how the pink flowers also bring beauty. But whatever it is, I now see gloom in everything because of this uncle.

"I'll read it for you," his uncle smiled politely.

No!
