Ch. 3Chapter 2

"You need to unwind sometimes too, Penny! You've been working hard for almost six years of your life now! It's good to feel liqour in our bodies, you know," Jessie boredly said as he sat comfortably on the couch in my office.

I smiled at him. "Jess, I have more important--"

"... things to do, and going to the bar is just a waste of time." He cut me off, mocking my favorite words. "Penny, a night of enjoying life won't cost you a billion. I understand that you want to take care of your position and the company that you have built. But, aren't you sick in this office of yours? Don't you want to have something new in your life aside from just facing your computer all day? Come on, Pen."

I sighed. I get his point, though. But I'm just literally not fond of partying anymore. Aside from my primary priority right now is my company and my position, I also have my son to take care of.

A smile escaped from my lips as I thought about Jared.

"And don't you ever say that you have Jared to take care of because really he also wants you to go out sometimes." It seems like he read what's on my mind. He narrows his eyes at me as he stands up, shaking his head at me like he finds something creepy. "Or maybe you're still into your ex-husband?"

My forehead creased. "Jess!"

He continued, though. "Do you miss his touch all the time? And you're afraid of going to the club because you might remember your past with him."

"Okay, okay! I'll join you tonight!"

His laughter roars inside my office. I rolled my eyes at him. He really knows what buttons to push just to make me say yes to him, huh?

"Thank you, Penny! I just need someone to hold on tonight. I promise you, just this night." He smirked devilishly at me.

I shook my head and continued signing the documents on my table.

It's been six years since Ethan and I divorced. I got into a minor accident that night, and it was Jessie who accidentally hit me. When he found out that I was pregnant, he was so guilty about it that he let me live in his house for almost two years until I was fully recovered. I actually had no idea that I was pregnant. I just learned it the day Jessie did.

It was actually hard, striving for success and raising my son. But the pain that I've felt years ago and my son, Jared, were my biggest inspiration to continue striving. Jessie helped me financially, and I'm thankful for it. I'll forever be thankful for having him beside me.

Sometimes, people ask, when are we going to marry each other? I just laugh it off, though, while Jessie would act like he's disgusted with the thought of it. He's more into guys, you know.

I haven't heard anything from the Falcon anymore since I moved my way out of Boston to San Francisco. So far, our life here is okay. I'm already content with it.

That night, Jessie arrived at my house as early as we had planned. He's really excited, huh? I wonder what he's up to and why he's acting so weird.

"I'm going to have my dinner here," he smirked at me.

Wearing his black suit and slacks, he walked into my house like an iron-clad man. If I didn't know what he really was, I'd think he was a fuck boy.

"Dada Jessie!" My son left the couch full of his toys just to embrace his dada.

"Oh, my baby boy, I have news for you."

Jared looked so interested in his dada. "What is it, Dada?"

"Your mom and I are going out tonight! Finally!" Jessie exclaimed.

My son just laughs. "Mommy already told me, Dada. I'm so happy for her!"

Tears started to form in my eyes. I blink up just to remove those. I smiled sadly at myself.

"I won't bring my car. I'll ride with you," I stated as I helped my son's personal maid prepare our dinner.

Jessie looked at me with wide eyes. "No! Of course not!" My forehead creased at his sudden reaction. He laughed nervously. "It will be better if we'll bring our own car."

I sighed in defeat and just nodded.

After having our dinner, I went to my room to prepare. I wear a black sweetheart top and a black mini skirt. I put on some make-up, brushed, and blew my hair down until I was satisfied. I wear my favorite necklace and put on some accessories, and I'm done.

"Are you sure I'm not going to tuck you into your bed?" I whispered at Jared.

He wants to watch me while we leave. I am bothered by it, actually. This will be the first time I won't tuck him in his bed.

He smirked at me and nodded. "Yes, mom. I can take care of myself."

I sighed and nodded after. Every time I stare at him, I find myself dazzling in awe. He really is a carbon copy of his father. All of his physiques were captured by him, and the only thing he got from my genes was my pointed nose. I'm sure he got it from me because Ethan's nose wasn't pointed; it was small.

I walked down the stairs with Jared beside me, and Jessie's jaw dropped when he saw me.

"You look so good—and hot," he mumbled.

I smirked at him. "Let's just go before I change my mind."

I bid my goodbye to Jared one last time until we're in our own cars, driving. I'm following Jessie's car because I don't know the way through the bar he's telling me.

After minutes of driving, we're already here at Morocco's bar. I'm not familiar with this bar, and six years have already passed since I last went clubbing. That's why I just followed Jessie on our way inside. Seconds later, we are already inside. Different neon lights, the smell of cigarettes, and wines greeted us. Each of the corners has people kissing. Well, it's normal.
