Ch. 3Chapter 3

“Girl, are you alright?”

I immediately returned to my trance after feeling Elle’s gentle squeeze on my shoulder.

This is new; I’m dozing off. Usually, no matter what the situation is, I get more restless and more sensitive to those around me.

Damn that guy! I hit my hand on the table aggressively. I even saw Elle’s shoulders lift in surprise because of what I did.

He looked up at me when I stood up. I clenched my fists and when I notices that he was weirded out I immediately sat down again.

“What’s the problem? Is the food doesn’t taste good?” He looked at me with surprise and then tasted the soup served in my bowl. “It’s isn’t though, I thought this was your favourite.”

We are currently in a small food court. Where he insist to eat after he reported that perverted bastard at the police station.

I just shook my head at Elle, and he shrugged and then continued eating.

I took a bite, too. I can’t stop thinking about that guy in the police station. Well, I will never forget that man, even in the afterlife. He—He is so annoying!

[FLASHBACK]

“Would you believe me if I told you to marry me?”

I was stunned by what he said. I didn’t move and just kept looking at his smiling face, still bewildered.

This is not the first time I’ve been kissed. Of course, that’s just me because I’ve had many romances, whether it’s a series or a movie, and most of them have a kissing scene.

I don’t know why, it’s been two years since someone kissed me, but this feels new to me.

I was surprised when he immediately move away from me. His handcuffs made a clanging sound because of that. He adjusted the cap he was wearing and the said, “I’m just kidding.”

He said that while laughing loudly.

My eyebrows crossed because of what he said. Is he crazy? He is crazy!

I was about to speak when the door opened with force. “Mr. Fontero! Sir! Where’s Mr. Fontero?” a guy wearing a blue suit entered the police station.

“I’m here,” the guy said, after that the man who approached him.

“I already talked with Aki, Riv. He is not the one who is aggrieved. He freaking beat the kid to a pulp, dude!” said the man while not even looking at me.

“Well, that’s good. Let’s go; my hand is already hurting,” the squeamish man replied.

I want to kick him now, but maybe I’ll just let it go. I don’t want to put a fight with anything for today, and thankfully, he is not ugly. My left eyebrow rose as he remained standing the time he walked right passed me. He faced me and removed his face mask. “I’m too good for you, anyway,” he said casually that made my mouth gaped open.

H-How dare him? I can’t believe this!

I still remember that I was just spacing out after that, and if Elle hadn’t slapped me, I wouldn’t have woken up.

“Elle, I think I’m okay here,” I began as he led me to where I was staying. “Go back to work; I know you’re busy, I have troubled you enough. Your talents must have been waiting for you at company.”

He faced me with a frown. “What talents are you talking about, you silly girl? When you left, I left that shit like company too. I don’t care about the people there; I still hate them all!” he said in an angry tone.

“What? T-Then what’s your jobe now?” I asked with wide eyes.

“Freelancing is just what is there for me. Another thing is that our income is not that big because they are shameless,” he grumbled. “Besides are you sure you’re okay being alone here?”

I immediately smiled because of what he taught. At least he didn’t lose his concern for me. “Yes, I’m fine; I’ll take care of Aunt Pat’s requirements.”

He sighed. “You still intend to move your aunt Pat to Villiena?”

I nodded before touching the low, green gate of the apartment. “Yup! Haliya Hospital can no longer take care of my aunt, and we both know Tita’s condition,” I stated as I opened the lock on the gate.

“If that’s what you want, I don’t have anything to say. Just call me when you need someone; you know my number, right?” he said in a soft tone.

“Thank you, be careful.”

He nodded before calling a tricycle. He looked at me until the tricycle he was riding left.

Somehow I’m happy we met again; if he hadn’t been there , I don’t know how far it would have gone. I felt really glad and relieved.

“Oh, you’re here, sister Lin.” The face of the son of the landlady of this apartment I rented greeted me. “Mom was looking for you earlier; she said you have to pay your rent from last month and this month,” he litany.

I scratched the back of my neck; my bill was too much, and I forgot that I still had a bill for the apartment.

He lowered the headphones around his neck and then leaned forward. He also pulled my hand so that we were equal. “I’ll tell him that you’re not here yet and you’re at your boyfriend’s so he can charge you next week,” he whispered, making me laugh immediately.

I pinched his fat cheek. I also just now noticed his cute, cute soldier clothes. “You’re young yet a teeny tiny little sinner! Who is my boyfriend then?” I playfully said to him.

He snorted and then gestured to himself. “It’s me, I can be my boyfriend. You don’t have to pay rent anymore,” he said while laughing.

We both laughed. He really knows how to lift up my mood. This kid.

I slapped him lightly on the forehead.. “Tell your mom I’ll give it to her tomorrow, I was just fired at work.”

He rubbed his forehead while nodding.

“And by the way, Ton,” I called him before he even left the apartment. “Focus on your studies okay? I saw your grades yesterday, it was an eyesore,” I mocked making him pouted.

He glared at me before slamming the door shut. When he finally left, I lay down on the small bed. I hadn’t even fallen asleep when I was jolted awake by loud knocks on the door.

“Lin!” A sudden call from the outside.

I had no choice but to stand up and see what it was. “W-What?”
