Ch. 1Chapter 1

“The bride is here!”

I plastered on my sweetest smile when they announced my arrival.

The large door of the church opened, and blinding camera flashes greeted me. As soon as I stepped on the red carpet there, a slow melody started playing from a piano.

Everything is really very elegant. The guests, the beautifully designed seats, and the archbishop that will prove it all.

This is my dream wedding. To be able to wear such a beautiful wedding gown and get married in a beautiful and big church.

“Aunt Pat, I’m living my dreams now,” I muttered haughtily.

I purposely slowed down the walk. I want them to capture every bit of my beauty today. I want them to have no angle left unphotographed.

I want everyone to know about this wedding. I want to make everyone think that I won, I am the winner—kidding.

After a few moments of walking and just a few more steps, I was near the end. I carefully raised my foot and simply stepped on the gown I was wearing. “Omg! “I whispered in a panic, even though the truth was that I meant it.

Before I hit the ground, strong arms caught me. I grabbed his chest and leaned my head against it without hesitation.

“Guess I underestimated your acting skills,” he whispered in my ear.

I could feel his warm breath inside my ear, which made me shiver. I shook my head after looking up at him.

“Of course, I wasn’t called the best actress for nothing,” I proudly rebuked.

I immediately blinked when a camera doll passed in front of us. His serious face was replaced by a smile; he’s doing his assignment better.

He held me upright and did not let go of my hand until we reached the priest.

This wedding is being captured live. That’s why the quests here are not the only witnesses to this wedding. I’m quite thrilled with that thought.

The priest began to perform the ceremony. I can’t help but be mesmerized by this guy beside me.

His brown hair is up. Even though he’s not wearing his serious face, his smile is dazzling in the light, even if it’s fake.

He is handsome in a black tuxedo. Biting my lip, I stared at his biceps stretching through his clothes. Dang, I hit a jackpot.

“Pay attention, or you want me to reduce your fee,” he murmured.

I was surprised by what he said, and I immediately adjusted my posture. I want to kick him, to be honest, but maybe later, on the honey moon—kidding again.

He glanced at me. I just gave him a smug look. Honeymoon? I can’t wait.

It didn’t take long to wear a ring. He already swore his vow, so I’m next.

“I promise that I will love you forever. Even if your behaviour is not pleasant, I will tolerate it,” I said while holding my chest as if to feel what I’m saying.

What I said to him was met with laughter. I couldn’t escape the sight of his jaw. Uh-oh, mad.

“This ring will serve as my love and joy. I promise that I will be with you all the time. I love you,” I said after putting the ring on his finger.

Of course, everything I said was just a lie, but yup! I love you, especially I love your money.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride,” announced the priest.

He grew closer and closer until his lips met mine. It was just a smack, and that is not enough. He was about to break away when I pulled his face closer to mine.

I kissed him torridly. Full of love, full of plasticity. As if that were the cue, the guests applauded together. The bell rang, signalling that the wedding was over.

“Another payment for the kiss,” I softly whispered when our lips parted.

My lips parted and made its way for a smile. This time, it was genuine. Nothing would make my heart happier than his answer.

“Name your price.”

You must have been wondering how I got in this situation. We’ll let me tell you a story. On how I snag a billionaire and how this fake marriage came into reality.

My jaw dropped as I looked at the broken plates she threw on the floor. It’s not the price of that plate that I’m worried about but the reason that I just washed it before and in just two seconds she wasted my effort.

“How many times have I called you outside?” she screamed in my face. I can’t help but step back, no offense but her breath really stinks. “Didn’t you hear me?”

“It’s not that I didn’t hear you there’s a lot of work here in the kitchen, besides Hazel isn’t doing anything,” I explained in a gentle voice because I know her narrow mind would not understand that.

She raised an eyebrow at me. I couldn’t do anything but pick up the broom and clean up the mess she made.

Actually, she is not my boss here at the restaurant. She is just like me, a waitress here, but she has the audacity to boss around because Mister Chua the owner always favour her.

“That’s it? Are you going to pass your work on to someone else now?” she hissed. “What? Who told you to do the work here when you should be out there! ” she added.

I didn’t answer and just continued cleaning. Because Annika is sick, I don’t have anyone to help me. It was because exhaustion from the overtime she took always took off.

I can’t even see it, but I know she’s watching what I’m doing. After cleaning the broken plates, I continued to stack the ones I had washed earlier.

Nothing will happen if I fight with her. One more thing: I don’t want to be fired from this job as much as possible.

“I’m done, Madam; I’m going to work outside.”

I was about to go out when I felt a hand pull my hair. “Do you really think you can turn your back on me? When you’re just some old unsold actress lurking around here!”

“Ouch! ” I groaned as she tightened her grip on my hair. “What is your problem?” I said annoyed when faced her. She have really gone too far this time.

“Why isn’t it true? What is an over ripe actress like you doing here anyway?? Huh! Aged by time!” she said while laughing. “Isn’t because of the scandal?” she mocked.

I don’t want to spoil her childishness. As much as possible I don’t want trouble, but it’s too much. She has no right to judge me when she knows nothing.

“You really don’t know when to stop, do you?” I said as the burst of anger came through me and I pulled her hair harder than she did earlier.

“Damn you!”
