Ch. 9The Queen's Injunction

I heard boisterous laughter, so I quickly turned to Caspian.

What the heck?

"Your reaction is priceless!" He laughed heartily. "Don't worry, we'll just remove those wyrm serpents from your feet, and you'll be fine! It's just a level one creature, after all!" he added. He still couldn't stop laughing, so I gave him a disapproving look.

My nose wrinkled at what he said. This guy's been like this since earlier!

Without warning, I grabbed his hair, causing him to scream in pain.

"Ouch! You're really something!" Caspian complained, attempting to free my hands from his hair, but he failed. I didn't let go. Let him deal with it.

I released him when I was satisfied. His face had turned red, so I felt a bit sorry for him.

Ugh! If only I had powers like them, I would've showered him with painful ball of fires or something earlier. Tsk!

"What am I going to do with this!" I yelled at him while cringing, looking at my injured foot. Worms were wriggling and entering the wound. I don't know, but it's painful to look at, although I can't feel it. Why is it numb?

"It will hurt later, so don't get too comfortable," he suddenly said, walking towards me.

Caspian then took off his jacket and tied it around my foot. I winced in pain when I felt the fabric touch my injured foot.

It will hurt later? It already hurts when he touched it with his jacket!

I just looked at him while he did that.

"What are you doing?" I asked him. He looked at me and smiled sweetly, causing me to look away. It's not the playful smile I usually see when he teases me. That's why it's really awkward to stare at.

"I'm sorry for bringing you there and having fun while you're suffering..." he apologized. He stood up and dusted himself off. I remained silent, staring at the jacket he used to cover my wound.

"Let's go?" he offered his hand to me, but I didn't take it. I can still stand on my own; I'm not crippled yet.

I managed to stand and looked at him like a proud child who can now stand.

I just shook my head at my thoughts.

What proud child are you talking about, Fiamiolle? You're probably losing your mind. Tsk.

I was shocked when he carried me.

I was very surprised when he suddenly picked me up. "What the heck do you think you're doing?!" I shouted, giving him a deadly glare.

"Don't worry, I carried you when we came here earlier, so just stay quiet, okay?" he teased, holding me tightly.

I don't know, but it seemed like my body followed his words. Did he use his power to make me act like this?

"Good, turns out you're a good mortal," he teased me again. I didn't waste more time answering him. I just stayed silent while he continued carrying me. I didn't move so he wouldn't have any more trouble.

He took his place in front, said something I couldn't understand, and in an instant, we were in front of the Hearthstone building already.

I looked at him with a gaping mouth and widened eyes. What the hell did he just do?

Is it that easy when teleporting? Then he should have just used it earlier when we were in danger! Silly immortal!

I didn't think twice and struck his nape using my left hand. "You should have used that when the wolves were chasing us!" I angrily said to him, making his face look in awe.

"You're hurting me, Fia!" he complained while grimacing in pain from my blow. He couldn't do anything about it since he still had me in his arms.

He complained again, and with little hops, walked towards the door. Pfft...

We entered inside, and he laid me on the couch. He said he would call Rhenouis, who had the ability to heal through herbs because he's an Earth Manipulator. I just ignored him and looked at my feet. I could feel something crawling inside, and for some unknown reason, it still didn't hurt until now.

A few minutes passed, and I heard footsteps above.

I glanced at the thudding sound, and there was Caspian coming down the stairs, looking annoyed. What's his problem now?

"His attitude is really unbearable! He doesn't want to heal you because he claims I brought you there, so he insists I take responsibility for your treatment!" he complained to me like a child, pouting. I sneered at the nonsense.

Rhenouis does have a point, making things difficult for him there.

"What am I going to do here?" I asked him, prompting him to look at my foot. He approached me, kneeling in front of me.

I suddenly sat up straight, taken aback by his actions. He slowly took off the jacket wrapped around my foot, accompanied by the gentle fall of some maggots. I couldn't help but look away when I saw them turning black.

"I used my power earlier to prevent it from worsening and to alleviate the pain you're feeling," he explained while still keeping his gaze on my foot. And that's the answer to the question of why it's not causing any pain right now.

"I can use my water manipulation ability to heal these wounds, but I don't think I can do it," he added. I looked at him because of what he said. I didn't speak and just focused on my wound.

I saw him stare at me for a few seconds before looking back at my foot. "Well, I think I can!" he blurted out. I suddenly looked at him because of that.

He began moving his hands, fully concentrating on my foot. "I remember my mother teaching me this... She said that water users have the ability to heal wounds by absorbing water molecules and transferring medicine within the body. The water molecules assist in repairing and regenerating damaged cells from within." I listened to his explanation, and as he spoke, he used his power.

I saw a small creature emerge from his two hands. It was cute, green, and shaped like droplets. It had no feet or hands, but it had a face. It jumped away from Caspian's hands, then entered the wound on my foot. I felt a cool sensation as it touched my wound.

I can't explain what I'm witnessing now, but as he demonstrated his power on my wound, my foot gradually regained its original color and form, until all the crawling maggots disappeared as if turning into ashes, blending with the breeze.

I observed how Caspian's hand trembled as he finished healing me. I examined my foot closely – no trace of the wound remained; it returned to its original state. What was repulsive just moments ago now looked perfectly normal.

"You healed me!" I shouted, joyfully.

I glanced at Caspian, who was now smiling faintly at me. Wait a minute, why does he look so weak?

"And it requires a lot of energy!" he suddenly said, forcing himself to stand up.

I stood up just as he started losing balance. He was about to fall, but thankfully, I quickly held onto him.

I assisted him to sit on the couch I had been occupying.

Wow, I can also walk properly now. He totally freakin' healed my feet!

"I used all my energy just to save you, so you owe me one," he said weakly, leaning his head on my shoulder. Me being at fault? He's the one who didn't want to teleport because he wanted to play. Tsk!

I rolled my eyes. I didn't complain and let him rest there.

"It's also your fault for bringing me there," I answered to make him laugh.

I glanced at my hand, which he was playing with. I didn't like it, so I quickly withdrew my hand and placed it elsewhere.

"Why did you come here anyway?" he asked out of the blue. I paused for a moment at his question.

"I accidentally came here. Well, so-so. I wanted to come here and accidentally couldn't go back to my place." I felt a bit confused about what I said.

"The moment I came here, I thought it could be a wonderful place, just like in the fairy tales," I added, looking at the gorgeous scenery outside the window.

"Fairy tales?" he asked in amazement. Didn't he know?

"Oh, stories of princesses and princes. A magical place where supernatural abilities exist and a happy land where everything is impossible," I answered, making him laugh again. Why does he enjoy laughing so much?

"It's amusing in your world. No wonder you didn't seem surprised when you came here; you already knew there's power here," he said while playing with my hair again. He ran his fingers through my hair, tickling me, so I quickly brushed his hand away and gave him a stern look.

He grinned, and I just rolled my eyes.

"Indeed, you know we are powerless," I irritably replied. Why does he keep waving those hands of his so persistently?!

"Of course, we should know; you're the revered adversary here. I actually wanted to kill you based on what I read in our history books, but I saw something different in you, so we decided to save your life!" he cheerfully retorted, waving his hands in front of me.

"And if you weren't needed?" I nervously asked him.

"Then we would have killed you!" he bluntly replied, leaving me staring into nothingness.

So, if I'm no longer useful for their supposed mission, does that mean... they'll kill me?

Caspian stood up, and I followed him with my gaze. He approached me, offering his hand again, but I still didn't accept it and stood up on my own.

"Do you know in our world, there are people who really want to go to your world because they think it's so beautiful here?" I suddenly bragged. He looked at me with furrowed brows, seeming confused by my words.

"In our place, they only pay attention to the talented and the exceptional, but those they deem worthless, they just ignore..." I smiled bitterly as I recalled my parents who never boasted about me despite the need. "That's right, even if I go back to our world, it's useless because no one needs me there either. Even if I die here, no one will care to look for me."

"I came here, hoping they'd see differently about people like me, who are considered useless, but it turns out it was all just a delusion. Well, whether here or in our world, I am still an outcast." I sighed heavily after saying so. Did the water he treated me with have some sort of poison that makes me spill my guts to this fool?

Caspian was about to speak, but he stopped when someone entered Hearthstone.

"Engrid!" he greeted Engrid and walked toward her. I just followed them with my eyes and sat on the couch.

They had a serious conversation, sneaking glances at me. I frowned at them for a few minutes. They talk weird; they should be looking at something else. Tsk.

I was surprised when Caspian suddenly shouted, prompting me to walk towards them to hear their conversation better.

"No!" Caspian howled, leaving Engrid looking shocked.

"We can't kill her, Engrid!" Caspian added while looking in my direction.

I froze upon hearing that.

"It is the Queen's order, Caspian, and you know there is nothing we can do," Engrid said coldly, looking at me.

Why does fate always seem to pick on me?

"We need to execute her right now."
