Ch. 7The Truth Untold

I was startled as Caspian shoved me, trapping me with a fellow student inside the classroom. They, too, were clad in black uniforms like mine. Before entering, they insisted on dressing me, claiming I was now officially a student and needed to adhere to their protocol of wearing the uniform during classes.

"Goodbye!" he bid farewell to me. I don't know why, but his farewell ignited a rage within me. What was good about what they did? I believed they needed my help to gather information, so why were they already plotting to kill me?

I glanced inside the classroom. They exchanged knowing looks as if they were aware of what they needed to do to me. I felt uneasy with the lewd gazes from the guys, especially the disdainful looks from the girls. I didn't understand why they were all angry with me, but the repulsive expressions on their faces suggested I had done something terrible.

"Kill her," I squinted upon hearing those words. What the hell?

I saw them smirk in response to a girl's statement. She must be their leader or president; I don't know if they have such titles here, but considering they have a principal, maybe their codes are similar to ours.

They slowly approached me, and I kept stepping back. Can't they give me a break?

"Bonum mane, Estudiantes!" They all stopped when someone greeted them. A hint of dismay flashed on their faces when their teacher entered the classroom.

"Salve etiam, Miss Krypida!" My eyes widened when I saw our history instructor. What is she doing here?

"Long time no see, Ms. Sevilla!" she winked at me. I was about to walk toward her when I suddenly floated in the air.

"It's better if we throw this girl outside, Miss," the guy I bumped into earlier grinned.

That guy, ugh! Why can't he just leave me alone?

"Bring her down, Mr. Alferez, unless you want me to punish you!" Alferez forced me down, claiming it was to suppress my pain.

I don't know what I did to them; I haven't harmed them in any way! Am I the one who caused them suffering in the past? If anything, they probably didn't even exist back then! But the way they react, it's like they were the ones who suffered! Tsk!

"Ms. Sevilla, please take your seat," Mrs. Buenaverde said. I sat in the first seat by the door, careful not to sit behind them and attract more attention.

As is customary for transferees, though I wasn't really one, I introduced myself to the class. Since Mrs. Buenaverde is here, maybe I can ask her if there's a secret way to return to the human world? A spark of hope lit up in my mind. Right! I can probably ask her about that!

Mrs. Buenaverde began her class, but I couldn't comprehend her words due to their unfamiliarity. It was similar to when she arrived, the way she greeted students and how they responded. I couldn't see what she wrote in the air, but those next to me apparently could—perhaps a supernatural gift. Unfair for a mere mortal like me.

“Haec hodie omnia, gratias, ac vale!” Mrs. Buenaverde exclaimed, leaving me clueless. My classmates stood, so I joined, despite stumbling through my response.

As Mrs. Buenaverde hurriedly exited, I followed for two reasons: to avoid chaos inside and to inquire about a way out.

“Mrs. Buenaverde!” I called, rushing toward her. She stopped, smiling, but corrected, “I am a Miss here, Ms. Sevila, not in the mortal world.” Irritation was evident.

The strict Mrs. Buenaverde I knew revealed herself, having saved me earlier. "Can you take me back to your world?" I asked determinedly, wanting safety.

"I can't tell you, find it on your own," she responded, insisting I stay. Frustration crossed her eyes briefly, but she redirected her attention.

“Wait, what? Why? Can you just tell me, miss? You know I'm not safe here!” I argued, desperate to return.

“You came here alone, so go back alone,” she asserted, unwilling to reveal how. Frustration overwhelmed me.

“Then accept your consequences,” she retorted, unyielding.

"Can I ask you something?" I surrendered, recognizing her unchanging stance.

“What do you want to ask?” she inquired.

“Do you know Caspian, Engrid, Aideniel, and Rhenouis?” I questioned. Her knowing smile lingered, evading a direct answer.

“Yes, I know them,” she replied coyly.

“What does it mean when a student says I need to stay away from those four immortals?” I pressed. Her playful smile persisted.

“You're interested in those students, huh? Just ask them personally!” she evaded, disappearing abruptly. Wow, just wow!

She's so stubborn! Why doesn't she just tell me that it's possible?! Was she crazy before? Seriously! Plus, she'll leave me without considering that this place is still unfamiliar to me! What a rude fool! Tsk. I just kept walking. I also want to explore the entire school. I don't care if they're having their class in that classroom. I don't understand what they're saying anyway. My mission here is to go back to my world, where I belong.

My eyes wander, and so do I. This school's hallways tell a fascinating story, even inside the classrooms. It's more than just your location within these walls; it's an extravagant tapestry of Victorian elegance. It's not just an ordinary hallway as I walk through... it's the opulent pathway of a palace where nightmares come true. Oh, Fiamiolle, dream big! For in these walls, each step is a royal step, every moment is a luxurious move.

"Fiamiolle!" I turned to the one calling me. It's Caspian, waving his left hand at me, smiling from ear to ear, running toward me. He was about to hug me, but I avoided him, causing his face to hit the wall. Serves him right.

"Ouch! How dare you!" he complained, rubbing his nose. I rolled my eyes, seeing his 'acting cute' face. Well, he is cute, but not that cute. If I wasn't annoyed by him, maybe I would have admired him in my thoughts, but no. He just warms up my muscles.

"Get to the point," I said indifferently, so he fixed himself.

"We need to tell you something. We discussed it earlier while you were absent, and since you're part of our plan, maybe we can enlighten you about your purpose in our plan," he replied. I furrowed my brows at what he said. So, they're just using me, huh? Well, same-same, I will also be using them.

"Let's go!" he said excitedly and pulled me in a certain direction. Why do people here love dragging others around? Maybe they're siblings or something!

I almost lost my breath when we stopped. The same house they called Hearthstone. We entered and went upstairs.

"Don't you have classes?" he started the conversation when we arrived at the fifth door.

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"Maybe they beat you up, that's why you didn't come!" I gave him a disdainful look when he burst into laughter. What's funny about getting beaten up?

"What's funny?" I asked him with a frown.

"Nothing!" he replied. Then he turned the doorknob, and we entered. There, I saw Engrid, Rhenouis, and Aideniel chatting about something, but they stopped when they saw us.

"She's here!" Caspian announced, wearing his annoying smile again. Tsk.

I took a seat beside Rhenouis, near the door. I feared they might do something to me, making it difficult to escape quickly with the door right by my side. It's better to be prepared than to do nothing.

“So, we’re here to tell that mortal there our plan?” Aideniel asked. “What's the point of keeping silent about it, Caspian?”

“She needs to know because she’s part of us now. Knowing that we need her in our plan, right?” I glanced back and forth between the two. Is their plan such a big deal? Why the secrecy?

“Quiet. Your argument won't help,” Engrid asserted, silencing them. Girl power!

“We asked you for your help, Fiamiolle. And we need you to know our plan so you can cooperate accordingly,” Rhenouis spoke in a monotone. It feels like he's different now, not the gentleman I initially perceived. Though I've just met him, he used to resemble Carl in attitude.

"The kingdom you stand in now is—" Caspian stopped as we heard a three-time knock at the door. Suddenly, it swung open, and I saw the face I didn't want to see again. The three of us exchanged glances upon seeing the school's principal. She was smiling and scanning the room.

"I apologize for interrupting your conversation, but the Queen is looking for you, dear Princess." After hearing that, I witnessed Engrid rolling her eyes.

"Let's go, and Fiamiolle, you stay here; we will be back before you know it!" Caspian energetically said to me. He paused as their shoulders aligned, referring to the woman they called the principal. "And never, touch her," he added with emphasis, looking at the principal. She just forced a smile and bid farewell to me, and they closed the door.

I heaved a sigh.

There it is! Their plan can now be revealed! Why did that annoying woman have to show up? Wrong timing, darn it!

Maybe I'll just wait here. Well, what can I do? I can't just follow them, right? Tsk.
