Ch. 17Chapter 10

Justin's heart missed a beat followed by the release of emptiness in his stomach.  He rushed to Freya and hugged her tight. They remained like that unmoving in the dark night of stark black room for do not know how long.

Justin slightly pulled apart unspeaking and kissed Freya's forehead. It was then he discovered she was running a high temperature and was shivering. Her clothes were completely drenched dropping water.

Justin quickly rushed to the bedroom and brought a napkin, to towel dry her hair. "Does anyone come home getting wet in this dropping cold night? You should have called me or least taken a taxi." He kept blabbering and sometimes softly scolding while nursing her like she was his baby.

He removed all her clothes and changed her into fresh ones. Through out his prattle Freya did not speak a single word. She stayed like a sculpture stoical and insensitive only to ask him a single sentence at the end.

Who were the girls with whom you took pictures in last month's business magazine? Did you sleep with all of them?

Justin stared at her spell bound for a moment, he could not speak anything. Unanswered he walked to the kitchen, made a warm cup of chicken soup with bread sticks and pushed the spoon to Freya's lips.  After feeding her the meal he gave her a paracetamol which would reduce the temperature. Drawing her to his chest he kissed her hair and closed his eyes.

"You did not answer my question." Freya reminded him once again. "My past is immaterial to you and vice-versa. As long as we do not bring our past we will stay happy for the coming two years." Justin sighed looking towards the ceiling.  Freya pushed him away and turned to the other side. Justin did not go angry on her like his usual. He laid his hand around her waist and continued to speak.  "It's a matter of a couple of years, I do not think it is much of a bother.  Afterwards you are on your way and I'm on mine."

"Stop talking rubbish." Freya sobbed and was about to walk away from the room but Justin stopped her holding her arm. He put on the light, observed her eyes for a few moment and then something flickered in his orbs. "You love me. Isn't it?"

Freya did not reply but looked towards the floor. "Look at me Freya." Justin commanded tipping her chin up. She slowly lifted her eyes and looked into his ashen grays. Enlightenment drizzled upon him and a soft smile executed on his brims. No words were spoken between them except the soft sound of the tick-tock clock hung to the wall. "Sleep with me for the night." Justin's voice was soft like a lullaby as he pulled back Freya to his chest.

The next day when Freya got up the bed beside her was empty. Justin wasn't seen in the house. She took a shower and prepared her breakfast.

Late in the night Justin wobbled home drunk but this time with no girl hanging beside him for her relief. Freya was happy and 'happiness' was a small word to describe her elation. She wanted to jump and say 'thank you' to the super power for hearing her prayers.

Though she couldn't sleep with the joy she was encountering, Freya went back to her bedroom laying down. After sometime she could hear the twisting of the door knob and Freya immediately closed her eyes. Justin entered the bedroom and she could sniff a faint smell of alcohol. Laying his hand around her waist Justin pulled her to his chest and started snoring within a couple of minutes.

Freya turned around the observed the handsome sleeping form of her fiancee. She ran her hands on his stubble, admiring his strong cheek bones.  Freya took her time grazing her finger tips on those thin soft lips that disturbed her sleep causing wet dreams. Circling her hands around his neck she pushed herself closer to him and felt his heart rapidly beat against hers.

Justin wanted to open his eyes, kiss Freya endlesss and confess his love to her. He was neither drunk and nor was he asleep. Justin wanted to shower love on his wife but was too egoistic to accept his feelings. He wanted to shield himself under the curtain of inebriation and blame everything on alcohol for his romantic actions upon her.

The crux of mirthfulness was nobody was going to blame Justin Cooper on why he would love his fiancee?  But he was a self-conceited man who thought too high of himself. He didn't want Freya to know his love for her though he would do everything in his power to keep her happy.

Justin sprinkled drops of alcohol on his shirt before coming to bed. He preferred living in the cocoon of sedation to express his fondness for his fiancee rather than openly express his feelings. Nevertheless Freya had no complaints. She was happy relishing the wrap Justin built for them.

Days passed to weeks and weeks to months. In the mornings before Justin went to work and weekends they were like strangers but in the night after coming to bed he was an entirely different man. He made romance with his wife and savored her like a honeydew. They snuggled to each other like inseparable love birds kissing and hugging each other though the actual deed was yet to take place.

Justin stopped hurting Freya and calling her with abusing words. When she watched her favorite program on TV he would constrain himself to his bedroom or study doing the office work even when his preferred sport was running live.

He would frequently take her to dine in the best restaurants of the city or order takeouts of her preference but wouldn't inform a word until the delivery boy arrived. Every time it was a sunny discovery for Freya to see her chosen dish set on the table.
