Ch. 9Part 9

Areum read Saga's schedule for the next week. Areum then circled a date when her in-laws would celebrate their wedding day.
"This is the date I was bullied for not being pregnant. I was so scared that I cried, and Saga got angry when she returned to the apartment. I, for one, need to change this situation. Saga's still angry about cooking the wrong food; don't let her anger grow at me," Areum monologued while banging the calendar she was holding.

"You don't want to go home? Why are you talking to yourself like that?"

Saga's cold voice made Areum fall to her knees and clutch her chest, which was pounding with shock now. Areum turned her head quickly towards Saga, then rounded her eyes in annoyance.

"Can you not surprise me like that? What if I have a heart attack? You want me to die young?" ranted Areum, losing control in shock.

Saga was also surprised by Areum's response, which seemed very surprised. Saga then approached Areum and held his wife's shoulders gently.
"Miane, you must be shocked, huh?"

Areum looked at Saga with an annoyed face.
"Eo, so surprised. Let's go home! I'm getting hungry because I'm mad at you," said Areum, who then stood up from her seat and put down the calendar she had been holding.

Saga chuckled at Areum's words. Saga then followed his wife's footsteps, leaving their study.

After arriving at the apartment, Areum went to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. She was so thirsty that Areum's eyes fell on the vitamins Secretary Han used to bring for Saga and Areum to consume. Areum, who was about to sip her mineral water, stopped and looked at Saga.

"Right, pre-marital agreement, I should cancel that too. I can't be the sole heir to Saga's assets and so own shares in Daehan Group. I don't need all that," Areum thought as she closed the refrigerator and approached Saga, who was already in the room.

Areum opened the bedroom door loudly, loud enough to make Saga, who was taking off his shirt, startle and fall onto the bed.
"Yes! Can you not surprise me like that? If..."

"Haish, you won't die of a heart attack. Take it easy!" cut Areum, who walked over to Saga.

Saga rounded his eyes in disbelief because Areum had dared to interrupt his conversation. Saga then took a sitting position, and Areum also sat beside Saga.

"Saga_ssi, may I ask you a question?"

"Eo, please!"

"You, preparing a prenuptial agreement without my knowledge, huh? Don't do that, please!" pleaded Areum suddenly.

Saga rounded his eyes in surprise because where did Areum know about this? Only Secretary Han and Saga's lawyer knew about the pre-nuptial agreement.
"Is it possible that Secretary Han told Areum?" Saga wondered.

"Saga_ssi, please! I don't need all that. I just..."
Areum couldn't continue. She wasn't ready to tell Saga how she felt right now. She didn't know how Saga felt. All she wanted was to pass this year well and be able to save Saga from death, that's all.

"Just what? Consider it compensation from me. There's nothing excessive about what I give you later. Don't think about it!" said Saga, who stood up and left Areum, still looking at Saga's back, who entered the bathroom.

"I just need you," Areum whispered after Saga had entered the bathroom.

"Go with Eomma to look for clothes for the wedding anniversary party. The driver will pick you up at the office soon."

"Just as I expected, Eommonim took me to the boutique today. Likely, the events of that day will also happen now. I must prevent that from happening. But how?"
Areum muttered to herself and was looking at her cell phone right now.

"Why are you always talking to yourself like a crazy person?" asked Saga, who could appear at any time in front of Areum's desk as usual.

"Gosh, again, you surprised me," Areum said while looking at Saga.

"You, you daydream and talk to yourself too much. So, a little bit must have surprised me. What's bothering your mind? To make you crazy?" Saga asked again.

"Tsk, who is also crazy. I'm still sane, you know."
Areum then stood up from her seat and turned off her computer. She then looked at Saga again.

"I must accompany Eommonim to look for clothes for their wedding anniversary. Listen to me carefully! Don't follow me to the boutique!" Areum said firmly.

"Why should I follow you to the boutique, not to GRan?" said Saga.

Areum smiled mockingly at Saga's response.
"Who would have guessed that you'd be such a pussycat to me that you'd follow me to the boutique under the pretense of missing me? But, whatever the reason, don't follow me to the boutique this time. Got it!" repeated Areum, reassuring Saga.

"Tsk, I won't catch up with you. You think I'm not busy?" said Saga, who left Areum unceremoniously.

Areum still smiled playfully at Saga's response. A moment later, the smile faded, and Areum's face turned sad.
"You better not follow me to the boutique. Or else you'll get hurt because of me, and I don't want to."

Saga ran as fast as she could. Her only thought now was Areum. She, who had just finished bathing, got the news that the boutique elevator that Areum went to with her mother got stuck and fell. Areum became one of the victims of the stuck elevator.
"Don't do anything, please!" Saga pleaded silently as she continued to run in an uncertain direction toward the ER.

Arriving in front of the ER, Saga quickly approached her mother, who was standing anxiously.
"Where is Areum, Eomma?" asked Saga with a broken breath.

"Saga, Areum is inside. The doctor is treating her. Eomma shouldn't have gone home first. She should have waited for Areum to finish the payment first."
Madame Min cried and was very sorry for what she had done. Madame Min went downstairs first and waited in the car while Areum still finished the payment at the boutique's cashier.

"Never mind, Eomma, it's already happened. I should have come to pick her up earlier. Maybe she wouldn't have gotten hurt if I had come, and I could have protected her."
Saga hugged her mother, who was still frightened, and her worries had not subsided even though the doctor was now treating Areum.

Saga was trying to open the elevator door with the tools owned by the fire department that arrived. With all his might, Saga attempted to open the gap in the jammed elevator to save his wife, Areum, who was trapped inside.

Drakkkk!!!

The sound of the elevator sling moving was heard again. There was a scream from inside the elevator. The elevator door that was initially closed was now slightly open, and Saga could see his wife cowering in fear in the elevator that was about to fall.

"Areum! Stay there! Don't move too much! I will help you."
Saga shouted through the gap in the elevator door.

"Mister, leave us alone. You're exhausted from trying to open that elevator door," pleaded the firefighter who wanted to take over the tool Saga was holding.

"It's okay. Just try not to let the elevator fall. I've almost managed to open it," refused Saga, who again tried to open the elevator door with levers.

With all his might, Saga pried the door open halfway. Everyone inside the elevator screamed with excitement. One by one, the people inside came out with the help of Saga and firefighters. Meanwhile, Areum was still cowering in fear.

"Areum! It's me, wake up! Come on out!"

Hearing Saga's voice, Areum lifted her head that she had been hiding on her knees and looked up at Saga. Areum reflexively stood up and called Saga's name. Areum then grabbed Saga's outstretched hand. Saga was about to pull Areum, but the elevator sling moved again. Areum screamed while Saga was still trying to hold the door that clamped her body. Saga continued to strengthen her grip on Areum's hand.

Saga endured the pain as something pierced her arm. Saga took a deep breath and then closed her eyes briefly. Saga then looked back at the frightened Areum.

"Calm down! You'll be fine. I'll pull you up."

After saying that, Saga pulled Areum's hand with all her might until they were finally free from death. Areum, who was now in the arms of Saga, lying on the floor due to exhaustion, felt something wet and sticky.

Areum looked at Saga's arm, pierced by the door lever.
"Saga!!!" screamed Areum hysterically.

Areum opened her eyes and then looked around. She could feel the pain in her injured head. Areum winced and held her head lightly.
"Thank goodness it was just a dream of what I've been through. Now Saga is fine. Even though I'm the one who got hurt, I'm okay," Areum monologued.
