Ch. 3Part 3

The atmosphere in the silent Saga apartment is getting even quieter. Not only did Areum ask for a divorce from Saga, but she also chose to resign from the Saga company. Areum intentionally avoids Saga, like tonight. When she sees Saga returning from the office, Areum immediately enters her room. Seeing Areum's attitude, Saga falls silent and watches Areum walk into her room without saying a word.

Saga then sighs heavily and walks towards his room. "Isn't this apartment always as quiet as a grave?" mumbles Saga to himself.

Not long after, the sound of Saga's bedroom door being knocked from the outside. Saga, who is finishing his work, walks to the door and opens it slowly. Saga sees Areum standing in front of his room, holding something. Without hesitation, Areum hands over the item to Saga.

"Whose savings is this?" Saga asks, puzzled.

"Mine. I think this is enough to pay off all of Appa's debts to you. This is my annual salary that I haven't touched at all. You've been supporting my life for a year now. So, this money should be enough to replace what you've given to Appa."

"What debts? Who owes and who lends? What's really on your mind, Areum?" Saga retorts, starting to get emotional because of Areum's behaviour.

Areum doesn't immediately answer; instead, she stares at Saga. Instead of stopping to answer Saga's questions, Areum is busy scrutinising Saga's face. Realising her foolish behaviour, Areum takes a deep breath and looks away.

"You helped Appa by agreeing to marry me. Now we've been married for a year; it's time to end all this charade. Take this savings! I don't want to owe you anything anymore. Thank you for helping my family," Areum declares.

Saga remains silent, hearing Areum speak like this. Although they got married as a contract and through an arranged marriage, Saga cannot deny everything Areum says. Saga clenches the savings book that Areum gave him.

"How's Saga's marriage? Why don't they have children immediately?" Mr. Min asks while having breakfast with his wife and Min Tae Jun, Saga's stepbrother.

"Their marriage is fine. They say they want to be child-free," Mrs. Min replies, and when she remembers her son's answer, she becomes annoyed again.

"Child-free? Why? Is there something wrong with one of them? Have you found out what's really going on?" Mr. Min questions, surprised by his wife's answer.

Mrs. Min looks at her husband and sighs deeply. "This is your fault, Yeobo! Why choose Areum? Why not another woman? Saga loves that girl so much, so whatever Areum says, Saga will surely obey."

"My choice has never been wrong. I made the right decision in choosing Areum. She's a good girl and also the daughter of my friend. We need to find out what's really going on, or else Daehan Group won't have an heir," Mr. Min says.

Min Tae Jun, who has been silent, clenches his spoon tightly. "No heir? Then what am I to you, Appa? Am I not more entitled to Daehan Group? I'm your biological son, not Saga," Tae Jun thinks, irritated.

After breakfast, each of them goes about their business. Tae Jun is already in his office. Tae Jun has another company that is not under the umbrella of Daehan Group. Tae Jun chose the entertainment industry rather than the industrial world managed by Saga in the Daehan Group.

Tae Jun enters his office and slams the door loudly. Since earlier, Tae Jun has been holding back his emotions to avoid erupting. Once in his soundproof office, Tae Jun goes berserk, knocking down everything on his desk. Tae Jun even throws his phone against the wall.

"Always Saga. Is it because he's married now? Or do I need to get married too to be noticed by Appa?" Tae Jun says, clenching his fists.

"From the beginning, there shouldn't have been Saga in my life. From the beginning, that kid should have disappeared from the Min family," Tae Jun tightens his fists even more.

"These are the prenuptial documents you requested, CEO Min," Secretary Han says.

"Thank you," Saga says as he receives the documents.

"Why release it now, CEO Min?" Secretary Han asks, a bit curious. As far as she knows, these prenuptial documents for her boss were made secretly and not even known by Mrs. Areum, Saga's wife.

"I'm going to validate and execute everything written in there," Saga replies.

Secretary Han widens her eyes in disbelief. "What do you mean? Are you and Mrs. Areum getting a divorce?"

"Yes," Saga confirms briefly.

"How is that possible? What happened? Weren't you two..." Secretary Han stops her words and bows her head slightly, realising Saga's sharp gaze.

"Sorry," Secretary Han whispers.

"Just follow my orders! Keep this a secret until the day of my divorce from anyone, including Areum. Give all of Areum's rights at the right time, after we officially divorce," Saga instructs again.

Secretary Han nods obediently; she can't ask anymore. Just from his tone, Secretary Han knows that her boss is not doing well.

Late at night, Areum comes out of her room because she hasn't heard Saga come home. Areum glances at the clock hanging on the wall. "It's already 11 PM. Where did Saga go?" Areum wonders.

Areum then takes her phone out of her jacket pocket and tries to contact Saga. But her husband's phone is not active. "Why is his phone off?" Areum monologues.

Areum then switches to calling Secretary Han. She is the only person Areum can contact. "Hey, it's me, Secretary Han. Has Saga finished work?" Areum asks.

Areum then listens to Secretary Han's answer. Her face changes to worry, and quickly, Areum hangs up the phone with her husband's secretary. Areum is about to leave the apartment. But the apartment door has already opened, and Saga enters with dishevelled clothes, clearly drunk. Areum quickly approaches Saga and holds onto her husband's swaying body.

"Oh, Areum-a," Saga says, smiling.

"Why are you drunk like this?" Areum asks, helping her husband stand properly.

Saga doesn't answer and just smiles, gazing at Areum's face. Saga even plays with Areum's cheek gently. "Why is my wife so beautiful? Since when have you been beautiful?" he comments.

Areum sighs irritably and helps Saga walk to his room. "Let's go to bed! You're heavily drunk."

Saga complies with Areum's wishes; he limps with Areum's support. Once in his room, Areum lays Saga on the bed. Areum is panting because of Saga's not-so-tall but slightly chubby body.

"I'll get you honey water. Wait here!" Areum says, turning around.

Just as she was about to leave, Saga's hand quickly held Areum. Saga grabs his wife's hand tightly and then simply kisses Areum's lips. Areum, who is surprised, stays in place, and her body stiffens, unable to do anything.
