Ch. 23Part 23

Tae Jun's suspicion about Areum and Saga's marriage persists. He can sense an atmosphere of pretense every time Saga and Areum visit. Although not everything seems staged, Tae Jun, who is quite wise, can read the strained expression on Areum's face.

Tae Jun discreetly assigns someone to follow and monitor Saga and Areum's movements. He is determined to find out what is truly happening between them. Moreover, Tae Jun's interest in Areum, even though he won't admit it, continues to occupy his thoughts.

Tae Jun drops himself into his office chair and finds a stack of reports on his desk.
"Why do I always find this every day?" Tae Jun grumbles as he pushes the pile of reports a bit forcefully.

Meanwhile, Saga is listening to all the reports from Junsu. Saga is slightly surprised when he reads the documents Junsu hands him.
"Are you sure?" Saga asks, looking at Junsu.

"What's wrong, sir?" Junsu inquires, confused.

"Does Tae Jun own this new mall?" Saga questions again.

Junsu nods in agreement with a regretful expression. Saga then crumples the paper in frustration, hitting the table quite hard. Junsu is taken aback, glancing at Saga's reddened hand.

"Don't worry, sir. After this, our empty outlet will be filled again. Trust me!" Junsu attempts to reassure the visibly distressed Saga.

"I know, Secretary Han. But Daehan Group isn't mine; it's Tae Jun's. So why is he causing issues for a company that will be his?" Saga expresses his bewilderment.

Junsu falls silent, unsure how to respond, as he is genuinely puzzled by Tae Jun's current actions.
"It can't be just because investors have stopped investing, right?" Saga questions again, looking at Junsu.

Saga's secretary is silent, trying to figure out how to answer the question.

Areum continued cooking, flipping the rolled omelet and checking the soup she had prepared for dinner. After ensuring everything is cooked, she turns off the stove and arranges all the dishes on the dining table. Areum pauses in her work, realizing that Saga hasn't returned yet.

"Where did he go?" Areum mutters to herself, reaching for her phone in the apron pocket.

She calls Saga, waiting for the ringtone to change to the operator's voice. "As far as I know, he doesn't have a meeting tonight," Areum says, attempting to contact Saga again.

However, Saga still needs to answer the call. Becoming increasingly worried, Areum tries calling Junsu. Unfortunately, he doesn't answer either. The apartment door opens, and Saga enters, slightly unsteady. Areum rushes to him and quickly supports her husband.

"Why are you drinking? Are you drinking with Junsu?" Areum inquires.

Saga remains silent, giving Areum a fleeting glance before offering a thin smile. Areum then guides Saga to the sofa and helps him remove his shoes.

"Wait here! I'll make honey water for you," Areum says.

As she's about to leave the living room with Saga's shoes in hand, he quickly grabs her hand. Areum looks at Saga, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

"Why?"

"Stay here! I want you to sit here with me," Saga requests.

Areum is puzzled but complies with Saga's wish, sitting beside him. She places Saga's shoes on the floor and looks at her husband perplexedly.

"What's wrong, Saga?" Areum asks.

"What should I do?" Saga expresses desperation, his voice hoarse.

"What do you mean?" Areum needs clarification on Saga's question.

Saga doesn't answer. Instead, he gazes intensely at Areum. The man who usually speaks sparingly rests his head on Areum's shoulder. A heavy sigh escapes Saga. Areum furrows her brow in further confusion.

"Saga, what's going on?" Areum questions, seeking to understand. However, Saga doesn't respond and starts to drift off to sleep. Areum sighs deeply and gently places Saga's head back on her shoulder.

The following day, Areum gently massages Saga's neck as he recovers from vomiting. Saga, not accustomed to consuming large amounts of alcohol, particularly on an empty stomach, looks paler than usual.

"Look at what you're doing! Why hurt yourself like this, Saga!" Areum scolds persistently.

After vomiting, Saga wipes his mouth and then looks at Areum. Saga's already pale face appears even more drained.

"Do you need to see a doctor?" Areum asks.

"No need, just make me a hangover soup," Saga requests.

"Sure?"

"Yeah."

Areum stares at Saga, finding the situation increasingly strange. She stops Saga, who is about to leave the bathroom, and raises an eyebrow.

"Why?"

"Shouldn't I be the one asking that?"

Saga remains silent and forces a smile. He gently strokes Areum's cheek.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Maybe I just need time to understand all of this and accept it with an open heart," Saga explains.

"What do you mean, Saga? What does it have to do with the company? Is there something I don't know? Are you hiding something from me?" Areum bombards him with questions, eager to find out the truth.

Saga doesn't answer, only offering a smile. Areum is about to scold him, but their doorbell rings.

"We have a visitor. Open the door. Tell them I'm not feeling well if they ask," Saga instructs.

Areum sighs and nods in agreement.

"Saga is sick, probably from drinking too much," Areum explains as she walks towards her room, with Tae Jun following.

"Sick? Since when?" Tae Jun inquires.

Areum stops and looks at Tae Jun with a slight smile. "Just this morning. Come in! He's probably lying on the bed."

Tae Jun follows Areum into the room. As soon as the bedroom door is opened, Areum widens her eyes in surprise to see Saga lying on the floor. She gasps and rushes towards her husband.

"Saga! Wake up!"

Tae Jun, equally shocked, approaches his younger brother. Checking Saga's pulse, Tae Jun decides to lift him without hesitation.

"We need to take Saga to the hospital right now!" Tae Jun declares, carrying Saga out of Areum and Saga's bedroom without further delay.
