Ch. 17Part 17

After returning from her parent's house, Areum was silent and didn't interact much with Saga. It turned out that even though she already knew what Saga and her father would talk about, Areum's heart still ached to hear it. Areum woke up again from her current sleeping position. Areum leaned her body lightly and rubbed her face lightly.

"What should I do? Why does my heart hurt so much right now?" Areum monologued.

"How can I get rid of this feeling so I can behave normally with Saga? I don't want to part with her," Areum said again, covering her face with both palms.

A few seconds later, Areum's shoulders went up and down, the girl sobbing as she felt her sadness.
"If only I hadn't been exchanged for money if only Saga had married me instead of Appa's business," Areum said between her cries.

Areum's crying stopped because the door to her room suddenly opened. Areum opened her hand and looked at Saga, who walked over to her with tear-filled cheeks. Saga herself then approached Areum and sat on the edge of the bed. Seeing Areum crying alone in the middle of the night like this, Saga sighed deeply and pulled his wife into his arms.

"Miane," she said then.

"Wae?" asked Areum, confused.

"You must have heard my chat with Aboenim, right?" asked Saga then.

Areum was surprised that Saga didn't even realize he knew his father's conversation with him, so why was he talking like this now? Areum then released Saga's hug quickly and looked at Saga with eyes that were still wet.

"How did you know?" asked Areum.

"It's true, you already knew," said Saga as she smiled and wiped Areum's tears lightly.

"Stop crying! I'm ready to explain everything to you," Saga continued.

Areum took Saga's hand gently and grasped it tightly.
"Saga_ssi," Areum called.

"Eo?"

"I was sad, angry, and hurt when I heard that Appa traded me for your favour with Appa's company. Doesn't that mean he sold me to you?"

"Yes! Don't talk like that! Aboenim never sold you. Even at first, he refused my help," said Saga, who disagreed with Areum's thoughts.

Areum was surprised by Saga's words, and the girl then wiped away the remnants of her tears on her cheeks. Areum was quite surprised by what Saga said now.
"Really?" she asked then.

"Em, with persuasion from Appa, Aboenim finally agreed for me to help her. Everything you heard is unfinished," Saga assured Areum.

"Then, how did you know that I heard your conversation?" Areum asked again.

Saga smiled slightly and rubbed Areum's head gently.
"Aren't you and I married? I, for one, am aware of your sudden change in attitude. Even though we rarely interact," said Saga as he gently stroked Areum's mane.

"Husband?" were the words that came out of Areum's mouth.

"Eo, your husband. Isn't that so?" asked Saga.

Areum nodded slowly, seeing that Areum had stopped crying. Saga smiled with relief and hugged Areum warmly again. Areum herself was silent as her husband hugged her.

"Is now also part of our charade, Saga_ssi?" Areum's mind couldn't distinguish between the charade and the real thing.

"Areum, please deliver this to Mr. Saga!" ordered Junsu, whose eyes hadn't left his computer for a second, but his hand thrust a folder at Areum.

'Eo," Areum briefly agreed and took the folder Junsu handed her.

Areum stood up and was about to enter Saga's room.
"Oh yeah, Areum!" called Junsu again.

"What?" asked Areum, turning her body back to look at Junsu.

"Gumawo, Areum_a."
Junsu put his hand to his cheek in a cute gesture. Areum widened her eyes in disbelief at Junsu's behaviour. A second later, Areum chuckled and nodded her head. Areum then actually entered Saga's room.

"It's okay, just continue legalizing it! In 2 months, we'll continue with our plan.

"Yes, I'm waiting for the merger with the micro company to be completed. I want everything to be smooth. Because after that, Tae Jun Hyung will be appointed CEO."

Areum was surprised by what she heard now. Saga, who didn't realize Areum's arrival, then disconnected her phone call to whoever. Areum herself was transfixed and kept squeezing the folder she was holding now.
"Did she just talk about our divorce?" Areum thought.

Realizing someone was in his room, Saga looked forward and widened his eyes in surprise at Areum's arrival.
"Areum_a," Saga softly called out to his wife.

"What were you talking about earlier? Is it our divorce?" asked Areum, bracing herself to ask Saga that.

Saga waited to answer. Areum could already guess that Saga's silence meant he had just agreed to her question. Areum then took a deep breath and forced herself to smile. Areum walked closer to Saga and put down the folder she was holding now.

"This is from Junsu if you'll excuse me," Areum excused herself and walked out of Saga's room.

"Areum! Areum! Wait!" called Saga, who then stood up and chased Areum.

Areum ignored that and was already holding the door handle. Saga managed to grab one of Areum's other hands.
"Wait! You haven't heard my answer to your question," Saga said.

Areum looked at Saga and smiled slightly. She shook her head lightly and let go of Saga's hand forcefully.
"There's no need to answer. After all, aren't we going to divorce after a year? It's already been a year. I, too, got so caught up in this charade that I forgot that we were pretending to be married," said Areum, who then left Saga.

Saga was stunned by what she had heard from Areum. Saga continued to look at the door that had closed again, and Areum had gone out.

Arriving at her chair again, Areum immediately picked up her bag and cell phone lying on the table. Junsu frowned at Areum's cloudy face and was surprised to see Areum packing her things.

"Where are you going?" she asked.

"Sorry, I'm going home first. Please tell Saga later," Areum replied with a trembling voice.

Without looking at Junsu again, Areum ran away, leaving Junsu confused by Areum's answer.

Saga kept trying to contact Areum, who suddenly disappeared. She got even more agitated when Areum's cell phone was inactive. Saga then clucked irritably, squeezing her cell phone because she heard the operator's voice again.

"Where exactly did you go, Areum_a," Saga muttered worriedly.

"It's almost late at night. I should have chased her earlier instead of leaving her alone," Saga said again in a panicked tone.

Elsewhere, Areum was drinking alone at a roadside tent stall. I am curious to know how many bottles of soju Areum had finished. Areum then took her chopsticks and stabbed a piece of topokki, and devoured it. Areum chewed the topokki with her eyes half-closed due to drunkenness. Before she finished chewing her topokki, Areum chuckled and returned to crying.

"It turns out that no matter how I try to change my fate, I will still divorce Saga," she monologued and then busily wiped her tears.

"Though, honestly, I don't want to part with you, Saga_ya," Areum said again, then roared in tears.

Several patrons of the small shop looked at Areum with astonished faces. Areum didn't care about the strange looks of the people. Areum continued to cry loudly and put her head down on the table now.

"Areum_a? Why are you here? Are you drunk?"
The voice that Areum knew quite well made the girl look up at the voice's origin. Areum, who was still crying, furrowed her brow and then fell to the side due to drunkenness.
