Ch. 2Two

It was five years since they last saw each other. They were now twenty years old, they had grown into complete women. Diamond was already at the entrance to the mansion and she was awaiting her sister's arrival.

When she arrived at the mansion, she didn't imagine it to be that big. She had to confirm again with the taxi driver that brought her down to the mansion. She was so surprised at what her father was able to come up with within just a few years.

She got stuck at the entrance because the gatekeepers would not let her in. The mansion was thoroughly guarded day in and day out so therefore no one can just walk in and out as they wish.

Diamond got confused, she didn't know what to do. Should I call Ruby? she thought. Oh no! All these faces are so new so they definitely wouldn't recognize us. "What to do now?" She said rubbing her hands against her scattered bun.

Soon a black jeep appeared in front of the gate. Diamond tried peeping into the car but the glass was tinted so she couldn't really get the face. Luckily the person inside the car didn't seem to notice that she was peeping. One of the gatekeepers quickly rushed up to the jeep and greeted the man inside. He immediately ran back to the gate and opened it so that the jeep could enter the mansion.

She waited for what seemed like an eternity. She then noticed a taxi which was similar to the one she boarded approaching the house, this could be Ruby she thought.

Ruby had already sighted her from quite a distance. The taxi parked right in front of her and someone who looked just like herself hopped off. She was right, it was her twin sister Ruby. She was so happy that they could finally be together again, at that point she totally forgot that she had been waiting outside for more than an hour already.

"How come you got here before me?" Ruby said with a slight grin on her face.

Diamond smiled back and then gave her sister a very nice hug. The moment was so emotional that she didn't even notice when she began to drop tears. Ruby consoled her and made her know that she would always be available for her and that she was all that she got. She then cleaned her tears and they headed for the gate together.

"You know, I almost thought I was lost until I saw you standing by the gate," Ruby said as she was impressed at what her father had been able to put together within just five years.

As they approached the gate, one of the gatekeepers couldn't help but exclaim.

“You again, I thought I told you to leave”. He sees Ruby, “Oh now you are two. I hope you won't be three by the next time I would look?”

“Let them in” Proclaimed a voice from inside.

The gatekeeper looked to see who gave the other, behold it was Carmen Rodriguez Mr. Anthonio's right-hand man. The gatekeeper quickly attended to open the gate and let the girls in. Diamond and Ruby walked into the mansion, with Diamond's eyes scanning every inch of the interior in amazement. It was beautifully furnished with exquisite artwork and decor.

Diamond and Ruby were led to the living room, where they found their uncle, Mr. Max Martinez. He was so surprised to see them he stood up from his seat and embraced them warmly.

“I know how much pain you guys must be in by now, I mean you lost your father, your only parent that is more than enough suffering. I just want you guys to know that your uncle Max is always here for you” Max Martinez said assuring the girls to be at peace as he would take care of anything that seemed to go wrong in their lives.

The girls were not certain about his assurance cause they knew that their dad and his elder brother were not always on good terms. For as much as they could remember their late father and his brother were always about who should have really inherited the Martinez mansion and how their parents gave it to the younger son and many shits like that. They just had their fingers crossed hoping to be able to perform a nice and befitting burial for their father.

After a few minutes of catching up with their uncle, the girls were introduced to some of the staff members who would be assisting them with the funeral arrangements. They were given a tour of the mansion and were shown to their rooms, which were located on the second floor of the building.

As they settled into their rooms, Diamond couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by everything that had happened in the past few days. The sudden loss of their father, the pressure of having to plan a funeral, and being in a new environment all seemed to be too much to handle.

Ruby noticed her sister's distress and sat beside her on the bed. "It's okay, we'll get through this together," she said, putting an arm around Diamond's shoulder.

Diamond looked up at her sister with tears in her eyes. "I miss dad so much," she said, her voice breaking.

Ruby pulled her sister into a tight embrace. "I know, I do too," she said softly.

They both wrapped around each other as they consoled themselves.

Later that evening, Carmen Rodriguez came to check up on them. He was the one who informed Ruby about what had happened. He would have died as well but he somehow escaped death. To the girls, he was like an elder brother. Their father had adopted him when he was three years and then some months later Anthonio got intimate with the mother of the girls and then she delivered two beautiful girls for him. After their birth, she decided to steal from Anthonio and run away leaving the girls in the care of their father. The three of them grew up together only to be separated by the incident that happened five years ago.
