Ch. 2Chapter 2

"Am sorry Miss, I didn't mean to bump into you," Clark retorted contritely almost stuttering as he briskly recovered from an exhilarating emotional scenario "Well, you better be," Jane snapped with her voice laced with coldness. "I can see all men around here are the same," Jane reacted, feigning an effusive annoyance that seemed somewhat ridiculous. "Hey, you also barged into me yet I was the only one who apologized and that's not enough for you," Clark retorted bewildered and feeling weird that the lady he was falling deeply in love with at first sight was being harsh and belligerent towards him.

"Hey! Jane where have you been?" Jenna stumbled in their midst in a long green overall gown. "Have been looking for you everywhere," Jenna announced. "I see you came to use the restroom," Jenna said facing Jane who was staring at Clark. "Hey, Clark let's head forward back to the party," George said amicably as he stumbled into the corridor and they both exited the corridor with Clark glancing back at Jane.

"Just take me away from here please," Emotions churned up in Jane's chest as she spoke. "Okay let's go back to the party now," Jenna resolved as they both returned. "Meet Sarah Hilliary, she is my friend we met last week and became friends and she is the birthday celebrant," Jenna said as she introduced Jane to a tall fair beautiful lady. Jane cast a succinct gaze at her and saw she was taller than she was.

"Hi, am Jane Sunderland," Jane introduced herself amicably as she shook Sarah's hands. "Hey! nice meeting you have heard a lot about you from Jenna," Sarah said as she shook hands with Jane amicably. "Well with that out of the way, let the fun continue. By the way, we will be routing for you," Jenna said as she and Jane went forward to sit on one of the seats.

Jane gazed at Clark nearby along with George. They kept glancing at each other while the party continued. "I want to thank everyone for coming am so grateful," Sarah announced and everyone clapped and sang her a birthday song. Cobb salad with merlot wine was served and while Jane and Jenna were already about to go, Clark tailed Jane when she was alone because Jenna went back to talk to Sarah inside.

"Hello, I didn't think we had a proper introduction, am Clark Williams," With unblinking courage stretched forward his hands towards her. "Am Jane Sunderland, and am sorry I overreacted?" Jane said with timidity. "It's okay, I mean it wasn't serious it was just a little accident that was resolved," Clark said noticing how her hands were so tight and how the spark in her eyes intrigued him.

"Yeah, it was," Jane said. Jane's heart pounded so fast she could hardly catch her breath as she talked to him and it made her stuttered. She pondered about the fact that she was tripping hard for a stranger and it was real this time unlike John's own.

"So am I experiencing first love," Jane cogitated to herself. "So Jane, could I maybe get your number, so we could catch up and go for a drink," Clark mustered an unblinking courage once more. "It's alright," Jane said as she gave him her number. Jane was flustered. why is she so easy what if he was like other guys who want her for her money? "Am not falling hard for him it's just going to be like John's case," Jane cogitated to herself.

"Hey, Jane," Jenna waggled closer to the two of them. "Hi," Clark started amicably. "Hi, you were the same guy at the restroom area," Jenna enquired curiously. "Yes, I came to apologize properly," Clark explained. "Okay, it's time to go," Jenna said as the both of them waggled into her Tesla car with Jane wobbling as she strode towards the car because of her continuous gaze at Clark. He waved at her and she did the same instinctively and almost fortuitously while they drove away.

Clark was filled with euphoria in his class with his students at the high school. "So who still doesn't understand my course in computer theory has taken today," Clark enquired curiously and got no reply. "So with all that being said, we shall meet in the next class next week,"...

Clark was sitting in his office when George entered the office. "You still haven't told me what has been making you so excited today," George said as he sat down on the office seat opposite. "Well, you won't believe it George, but I think am finally in love,"

George was flabbergasted and stared at Clark in a scrutinising manner for some seconds before finally breaking the silence. "I pity you, after everything you went through the last two years, I hope you know what you are doing. So what about your plans of not loving too much because of ladies who would only love you because they only want something from you and don't love you genuinely and would cheat on you like Clementina," George caveated.

"See, those are things of the past, at first I was flustered because I haven't loved anyone so deeply before, only infatuations and crushes, but am telling you have finally gotten my first love," Clark smiled effusively as he massaged his temples. "My heart was pounding so fast," Clark added. "I can't believe this, so you mean you have finally broken your code, what if she is worse than Clementina?" "Okay let's say it's true, how possible do you think you would ever see her again?"

George retorted contritely.

"About that, that's like the primal reason I was smiling," Clark's gesture was filled with an exhilarating euphoria. "Wait wait wait! Don't tell me you got her number please don't," George caveated. "Well sorry to disappoint you bro, but I did and we have a date a friendly one first," "Unbelievable!" George said. "You should be happy for me, I have never felt this way for a woman in all my life, I have never fallen in love, so this is what it feels like,"

"See I understand why you are like that because of Clementina and I want you to know that all ladies can't be the same and that in this life it's a risk not to take a risk, so I would pursue her trust me," Clark drummed on his table with his fingers with excitement and then fiddled them afterwards.

George kept casting a blank stare at him. He remembered that Clark wasn't hurt because he had felt bubbled or heartbroken since the Clementina incident especially when he knew that Clark never really loved her like that but was being careful but that Clark suffered. After all, he was about to trust Clementina and just felt betrayed generally. But George hoped that Clark wouldn't get hurt finally.

"Alright, who is she,"

"The lady you met me in the restroom corridor," Clark's face beamed with a broad smile. "Wow, although she is pretty cute, I guess love, at first sight, is true," George said as he rose "I have a class, for now, so later we will discuss the issue," George huffed. "Alright later," Clark said as George left the office for his class.

Jane sat in the parlour on one of the cushions facing Jenna amicably. "You won't believe it, I can't believe I have finally seen love," Jane started "Come again. Seen what?"

"Yes, I have," Jane retorted

"My heart was pounding fortuitously" Jane announced.

"What do you mean?" Jenna said. "I mean it was love at first sight, I couldn't get my mind off of him," Jane said.

"Am still surprised because of the last experience, you went through and that's why am reacting to this," Jenna caveated with a stern gaze. "See, I still can't believe why you would think of falling hard for a guy when did this happen?"

"Just recently yesterday at the party it was love at first sight. The guy you met me in the corridor of the restroom," Jane said.

"Wow, he is okay but remember you can't judge a book by its covers," Jenna shrugged.

"I know definitely, am also surprised but I can't control or stop thinking about him all day, he dominates my thoughts," Jane added.

"Remember John," Jenna whispered as Jane hissed. "Who cares about John, I don't give a f***k about him," Jane blurted out in indignation.

"Alright no problem l, I just hope you be careful," Jenna said.

"I already gave him my number, and have been expecting his call,"

"Hello, who is on the line?" Jane said trying to converse with the caller. After a minute of call, Jane's face was beaming with intense elation.

"He was the one, his name is Clark Williams,". "Wow, congratulations, I hope you be careful," Jenna said. "Yes, I would, he would be coming soon because I told him my address, and he would be coming to up pick me,"

"After all, you haven't heard any rumours about him have you?" Jane said.

Well, no I haven't," Jenna said in a caveated mood.

"But still be careful," Jenna added. "I will," Jane said. Jane received a call to come to the clinic for an emergency case which she did so and returned to wait for Clark's visit. "You mean he would be taking you out on a first date," Jenna said. "Yes, it's just a friendly date for a drink," Jane said. "It's okay," Jenna said.

Clark got to Jane's premises packed his small Chevrolet car at her entrance and went in. Before he could knock Jane had opened the door for him because she knew he was the one knocking. "Hello Jane," "Hello," Clark said facing Jenna. "Clark meets Jenna, Jenna meets Clark,". "Hello Clark," Jenna said. "Hello Jenna," Clark said. "Jane we need to be fast as there is not much time, I will be travelling to San Francisco to meet my family it's urgent as they want to have a meeting with me," Clark announced.

"But won't you be coming back?" Jane said curiously. "Of course, I would but it would just be two weeks," Clark said as they both headed forward to the car after notifying Jenna of their exit. As Jane sat on the front seater of Clark's Chevrolet, she thought about the fact he would be gone for two weeks.

"Gosh, now that she was excited about the current happenings she would only have a few moments with him before he goes for two weeks," Jane thought to herself.

Clark pondered about everyone who knew about his travelling, the high school, George and everyone else he told. He knew the news from his family came impromptu way and he had to attend.

Clark finally parked in at the front of his favourite Restaurant.

"What do you want," Clark picked up the bills ready to pick. "Well, Chilli crab would be okay for me," Jane smiled appreciatively. "Okay Chilli crab for two with Chateau Margaux Red Wine for two also," Clark announced facing the male water who was standing before them.

"Noted," the waiter said as he went to get their order briskly.

With the few moments she had spent with him, Jane got to notice his height as Clark was an average-sized person. He looked so handsome with his walking steps that made her heart stutter. As they sat down Jane began with her questions first. "So what do you do for a living," Jane said. "Well am a simple teacher who teaches at Hillside High School," Clark announced. "Wow that's good, I have heard about the school," Jane retorted. "Yeah, it's popular in the city," Clark's face beamed with a broad smile.

"And you?" Clark said redirecting Jane's question back to her. "Well, I work as a nurse in Rosemary Hospital," Jane said excitedly.

"That's great, having a friend as a nurse is safe," Jane felt a little bit hurt when Clark called her just a friend she felt she needed to be called more than a friend already but she remembered what Jenna told her about calming down so she calmed herself down and hid her emotions.

"Well, I would also love to have a friend who impacts knowledge through teaching," Jane said as they both laughed together being flattered by each other. The waiter returned with their meal as they ate and drank their wine then continued their conversation.

"So, since when have you been working as a nurse?" Clark said curiously. "Well, since I finished my nursing education and training three years ago, what about you?" Jane said.

"Well mine was just last year after currently looking for a job when I left my home city to this city for San Jose," Clark said.

"Well, if I may ask, why did you leave your home city in the first place?"

Jane's face beamed with an intense curiosity.

"Well, it was some family issues, I didn't go well with my parents then, but I do now," Clark let out a sharp exhale.

"Mine too was similar, the marriage aspect, I was kind of being forced to marry someone whom I didn't love, so I rejected and it came here even though my parents didn't approve,".

"But we haven't completely settled it," Jane said.

"Well, I guess that makes the two of us," Clark fiddled with his spoon as he ate....

Clark later drove Jane back to her apartment and had a little conversation before he left. "It has been a pleasure getting to know you better," Clark waggled irresistibly close to Jane and kissed her lips. Jane was flustered at first but kissed him back passionately.

"The pleasure is all mine," Jane retorted avoiding standing like a landpost as she shook his hands after she withdrew from the kiss. They both held each other's hands for a bit and released them later on. "Till we meet again, Jane, my regards to Jenna," Clark said as he entered his Chevrolet and drove off while Jane watched him leave with mixed feelings.
