Ch. 1Meeting his twin brother

Chapter One. ⛲
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA.
SPRING SEASON
KARA's POV
I watched as my husband,Joey, adjusted his tie while facing the full length mirror. He looked so handsome, just as always and smart in his work clothes. His platinum blonde hair had been styled and gelled to perfection. It was 6:30am and I had just finished making breakfast and set it up on the dining table.
I had to get up extra early to ensure he had food to eat because he always had to leave on time to beat the morning traffic.
Walking over to him, I held him from behind and softly said, "Its time to eat babe,"
He spun around and planted a quick kiss on my cheek. "Thank you but I would have to skip breakfast today. I need to get there earlier than usual."
Okay. It was nothing new. He had done this some times.
"But you should have told me before allowing me go make it," I said with a slight frown.
"It slipped my mind."
It always slipped his mind.
He continued, " I gotta go now though.I'll see you later in the evening." He gave a small smile as he pulled my cheeks a little before grabbing his briefcase.
As he got to the door, he turned around to say something.
"Hey, don't forget my brother is coming today. You have to please get him from the airport. Hope the guest room is ready?"
"Yeah it is. And I'll take care of it, don't worry. Have a nice day at work," I replied as I hugged myself.
He blew me a kiss and then exited the room quickly.
I sighed and plopped on the bed. I still felt a bit sleepy and was gonna go back to bed even if it was just for an hour or two.
I was a freelance writer as well as a wedding planner so I worked from home. Joey worked in a lucrative company and hated the idea of me going to do the same.
Who was going to take care of the house? Besides, he wanted his wife to be her own boss. And I really liked it as well so it was no big deal.
If not that I had wedding planning and planning bachelorettes as a side job, I would have probably lost my mind having to stay home all day, every day of the week.
Joey and I had been married for eight months and it had been great so far. He was a good husband but quite a workaholic.
Because he wasn't around most of the times, it made me feel lonely. It wasn't what I signed up for but it was his passion and it was good pay as well.
He had landed the job exactly two months after our wedding when we just arrived from our honeymoon. It was his dream job! He couldn't say no. Neither could I.

I woke up to the loud ringing of my phone. Groggily, I picked it up and heard Joey's irritated voice on the phone.
"Where on earth did you keep your phone Kara?"
"Oh I'm sorry I was asleep and.."
He interrupted, "I called you thrice already. Anyways, Julian is already waiting at the airport. You need to go pick him up. I left my car today so you could do that. Please go?"
"Yes. Of course. Right away," I replied.
The line went dead and I stared at the phone screen. Shit! How hadn't I heard him calling before then? Joey hated calling without any response but I had clearly overslept.
I planned to sleep for an hour but ended up sleeping for more than three.
I had gone back to bed after putting the house in order and attending to a few emails. And by then it was 8:15 am when my head hit the pillows.
Now, it was 11:30am and I hadn't even had my bath so I dashed to the bathroom to run a quick shower.
Twenty minutes later, I was tying my long jet black curly hair in a messy bun and dabbing some perfume to the back of my ears as well as wrist. I slipped on some blue baggy jeans, a white crop T-shirt and sandals on my feet.
My face was makeup free except some gloss I put over my small rounded lips. I searched frantically for Joey's car keys before finding them on the dining table.
After locking the doors, I got into the car and hit the road.
It took me an additional ten minutes to reach the airport. Before now, I had received a text message from an unknown number who turned out to be Joey's brother, Julian. He had given me details about where exactly he was.
I pulled up to the curb side, seeing him standing with his bags waiting outside the terminal. I didn't want to go through the stress of trying to park so I had asked that he waited for me there.
Wait. Were all those luggage his or it belonged to someone else?
I got down to help him put the bags in the trunk of the car. I came face to face with the guy I had only seen in pictures but never met physically. I was about 5 foot 5 inches tall and he was nine inches taller than me.
He was wearing a black T-shirt that clung to his built body over a black jean and had a chain over his neck.
He had a slight resemblance to Joey even though they were fraternal twins.
He had honey brown curly hair shaved at the sides in contrast to Joey's blonde hair. He had blue piercing eyes while Joey's were brown.
Joey had a light stubble but his was kept clean shaven. They had the same face shape, chiseled jawline, pointed nose and heart shaped pink lips. They had the same tanned skin tone but Julian appeared to be more muscular and two inches taller than Joey.
