Ch. 1Introduction

A Broken Nail...

She came out of her bathroom in her baby pink bathrobe and bathroom slippers, while she uses her fluffy pink towel to dry her hair.

When she felt satisfied with how much water she was able to get out of her hair, she wrapped the towel around her hair.

She went into her closet to pick her outfit for the day and after about ten minutes of contemplating which was good and which would be her lucky charm for the day, she finally settled with a white turtleneck body hugging gown and pink blazer.

She went to the shoe section in her closet and picked a pair of pink stilettoes, a small white handbag and the gold earrings she got as a present from her Dad on her birthday.

'It's old' she thought to herself.

Although it is still shimmering and has no scratch on it she still thinks it's old because it was last year's edition and is expecting another jewelry or something better.

She sighed and took all her selected clothes and accessories, placed the clothes on her bed, the pair of shoes beside her bed and walked up to her dresser to place the earrings on top.

Her eyes spotted the old bracelet she made for herself and her grandma when she was around the age of nine and a smile unknowingly spread on her lips.

Seeing it brought memories she was blessed to make. Just like that, the smile was wiped from her lips when that harsh memory made itself known again.

She looked away from the table as she tried to recollect her thoughts and not cry... Again.

It has been quite hard on her when that incident happened and she had kept most of the pain she felt to herself the tried to show she was fine.

But deep inside she wasn't.

Those were good and bad memories and when she does think of the good ones, the horrible ones sees it as an invitation to torment her.

"Bianca Montana, you don't need to think about what happened then. It isn't your fault and people are meant to move on from whatever heartache they experienced in the past" she told herself.

Words she would use to tell herself she got this, she can handle this and that those things can't define her now.

"Let it go girl, you need to let it go" she closed her eyes and took in deep breaths then let it out.

She kept doing that till she felt she was good and unaffected by what she remembered.

She turned to look at herself in the mirror to see that her eyes which was slightly reddened from her almost outburst has started to retain it's white color and she smiled.

"You got this girl, you put the world behind you and let your head high so it doesn't have to break you down anymore" she send then looked at the bracelet and picked it up.

"I don't need to see you for a really long time" she opened the last drawer of the dresser and put it inside before closing the drawer back.

'That should do'. She thought

She took her seat and looked at herself in the mirror again.

Her emerald green eyes looked sort of dull from that little encounter and decided it was just because she hasn't done her hair or hasn't gone shopping in a while.

She had those little light pink freckles scattered on her cheeks and nose, her pink lips were slightly plump.

Overall she looks quite natural and ordinary. But she begs to differ.

She went through her drawers to look for her nail polishes and in the process had them scattered on her dresser table.

She looked at the colors in front of her and picked one up as she decides which would honourably decorate her nails.

"Yellow? Nope, too bright... Red? Period, Nah gives me a headache" her eyes went to one.

"Black?" She purred "Hmm... like Mrs. Alvin's Soul," she said and let out loud fits of giggles.

She opened the nail polish, placed it on the table, then held the cover of the tiny brush and painted her index nail. When she did that she brought her hand up and looked at it in satisfactory

"Perfect" she said and continued with the other nails.

She was about to paint the last nail on her left hand when her phone rang, she got distracted trying to see who the caller was that she didn't see what she did. When she took her eyes away from the screen of her phone back to her nails, she froze.

***

"Yes, yes please ensure everything goes well... yep I understand and I will send you some extra cash, just make sure thing go as plan... you very much know how my daughter is like, she would fre-"

He was interrupted by an ear-piercing scream coming from upstairs.

He dropped his phone and quickly rushed up the stairs to see what had happened.

The scream continued and he hastened his steps, taking two steps instead, when he was upstairs he traced the screams to his daughter's room and hoped it was something serious.

He opened the door to see Bianca Montani, his only child in her bathrobe and a towel tied on her head, she was looking at her finger and let out another scream.

"What the hell is going on here Bianca?" he asked in annoyance, he looked around her room to see if anything wasn't right but everything seemed perfect.

Bianca walked up to her Dad and showed him her hand.

Mike Montani, her Dad took a look at her hand before bringing his gaze back to his freaked out daughter with a questioning look on his face.

"Can't you see it? I mistakenly spilled my nail polish, ON. MY. FINGERS!" she yelled the last part.

"Was that why you screamed like that, Bianca?" he asked, getting more annoyed.

"Yes, yes Dad... I was painting my nails, then my phone rang so I looked away from painting my nails to look at who called me, only to look at my hand that has black nail paint spilled on it" Biana said looking like she was going to cry any minutes from now.

"Oh my gosh I have to clean this, start over and use a new color, black totally ruined my day and I blame Mrs. Alvin for this" she muttered the last part.

"I blame you for this. Bianca, what is wrong with you? you just spilled nail paint on your hand and you screamed like you were getting hurt or saw a horrid creature and now blaming it on someone else?" he shook his head in disappointment.

Her eyes watered at what she heard from her Dad.

"Oh please don't give me that look again, Bianca," he said.

"I am a lady, I am in the most emotional stage in my life, little things like this makes me cry, you should expect this Dad"

"Your Mum is a woman, you're just a girl Bianca, your behavior and whatever tantrums you throw don't classify you as a lady or woman, you need to grow up Bianca... this character of yours won't take you anywhere. Grow up Bianca Grow up" with that he turned and left her room slamming the door behind him.
