For four years, Chiara's life revolved around Toby.

Her boyfriend was the reason why choose to take Architecture. He was the reason why she decided to stay in the Philippines.

She didn't want to leave because they made a promise to each other. All of her dreams in life were for her and Toby.
Toby… he was her everything.

But in a blink of an eye, her dreams about them instantly crashed. When she lost Toby, she felt like she already lost her life. Chiara didn't know how she'd continue her life now that Toby left her.

From tear-stricken eyes, she looked at the water under the bridge. She didn't feel any fear right now as she stared at the darkness below her.

“Chiara?”

Chiara stilled when she heard a familiar male voice behind her. She slowly turned her head and saw a familiar figure of a man standing a few meters away from her.

Gabriel. Gabe... What was he doing here?

Chiara's eyes blinked as she stared at the white ceiling in front of her.

When she realized that she woke up in an unfamiliar room, she immediately went up and looked around the place.
She looked down at herself. She was wearing different clothes from last night. An oversized white shirt and pajamas.

Chiara shut her eyes as she tried to examine herself. Aside from her head, no other part of her body was aching.
She tried to remember the events of last night. She was about to jump off the bridge when Gabe came and saved her.

"What are you doing here, Chiara?" Gabe asked, his face full of worry.

“Toby broke up with, Gabe. He already left me," she said as tears continued to fall from her eyes.

Chiara shook her head as she continued to cry. “I don't know… I don't know how I'd continue my life without Toby. He was my life, Gabe. He was my only family. He's the only one I have in this world. He was the only one left with me but now he's gone, too."

Before her knees could give up on her, Chiara felt a strong pair of arms covering her body. “You are not alone, Chiara…”

Chiara exhaled a deep breath as she opened her eyes. She then left the room. She was welcomed by a wide living room of a condo unit. She looked around the place. There was a large brown couch, a huge flat-screen TV, a small bookshelf on the corner, and a large abstract painting hanging on the wall. In the middle of the room lies a coffee table with a laptop on top of it.

Chiara heard a sound coming from another area of the unit. Then the aroma of fried rice reached her nose. She followed where the smell came from.

She found Gabriel in the kitchen. He was wearing an apron over a white shirt and cargo shorts.

The guy noticed her presence. He immediately turned his head at her. “Good morning...” Gabe greeted her with a smile on his face.

“Uh...” Chiara awkwardly stared at him. She couldn't manage to return his smile.

“I'm sorry I had to bring you here in my pad. You fell asleep in my car last night. I didn't know your address," he explained. “Don't worry, I slept on the couch. It wasn't me who changed your clothes. My sister came here last night. She's the one who changed you into pajamas.”

“T-thank you.” She said in a small voice.

“You’re welcome, Chiara,” Gabe answered in his usual gentle voice.

She almost killed herself last night. If only Gabe didn't come and saved her... “Thank you… for saving me.” She croaked as she felt the corner of her eyes heating up.

Chiara looked down as tears finally fell from her eyes.

“Come here...” Gabe said as he slowly went to her. Then she felt his arms cover her body again, just like last night.

“Thank you, Gabe,” she said as she cried on his chest. “Thank you… thank you for coming last night.”

She didn't know what would happen to her if Gabe didn't come last night.

"Hush, Chiara…" Gabe said in a gentle voice. "I was also thankful that I saw you last night."

"I'm sorry…" she said when her emotions finally settled down. She didn't know how long she was in that position before she finally moved away from him.

Gabe then slowly let go of her. “I'm sorry...” she repeated after she realized how she acted in front of him.

After the night that Toby broke up with her, she didn't see Gabe again. Until last night.

“I wetted your shirt," she said, biting her lower lip.

“It's alright,” Gabe said nonchalantly. He didn't even glance at his shirt. Instead, he raised his hand and held her face. He looked at her straight in the eyes. “Promise me you'll never think of doing that again. Can you do that?"

Chiara slowly nodded at him. “I promise...” she answered, meeting the eyes of the man in front of her.

Gabe smiled. "Come on, let's have breakfast. I know you're already starving." He then held her hand and guided her to the dining table.

Chiara looked and examined the breakfast on the table. There was a bowl of fried rice, sunny-side-up eggs, bacon and coffee.

“I hope you forgive me if the eggs are not cooked perfectly," Gabe said with a small smile on his face. "I’m not really good with cooking so…” he shrugged.

Gabe then pulled out a chair for her. Instead of sitting there, she remained looking at the man in front of her. She stared at his angelic face. That was the second time that Gabe had saved her.

“Gabe…" She uttered his name. "Why are you doing this? Why are you helping me? I don't understand why you're helping a stranger like me."

Gabe gave her a gentle smile. “You're not just a stranger, Chiara. We’re already friends, right? And friends help each other.”
