Ch. 9Chapter Eight

"Where are you taking me to for CHRIST sake?" Ife asked with a giggle as she took little steps to where Tomiwa was leading her to.

"Shhh... we are almost there, just calm down my love" Tomiwa replied and led her inside a garden.

The garden was decorated in all red and white, giving it that romantic aura. The scented candles that creates a path to a dinner set for two, the petals that was scattered on the path, beautiful balloons that has 'One year of love' some of care and the other of kindness written on them.

The dinning table has a bottle of wine, two plates with cutlery placed by each sides, two flute glasses and a medium-sized bowl of ice cream.

When Ife saw the ice cream, she giggled, turned to look at him and wrapped her arms around his neck while she gave his cheeks numerous kisses.

"You just know me so well and I love it" she said when they leaned away from each other.

"I try my best" he shrugs.

"Well, your best is more that enough. Thank you" she turns to take in the beautiful environment they were standing in. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh "The feeling is superb, the setting is cool... makes me feel safe and good" she opened her eyes to look at him.

Tomiwa placed his hands on each of her hips then brought her closer to himself "You don't know how happy I am that you like this" he kissed her forehead then held on of her hands and led her to the dining table.  "Let our evening start" he said when he helped her with her chair.

"Thank you" she watched him take his seat, then pour them some wine and he raised his up in a toast.

"To, many years of goodness, enjoyment, happiness, love, respect and good doings" they clicked their glasses and drank from it.

A waiter came and handed them a menu each. Ife looked at her boyfriend impressively.

"What should we start with?" he asked.

...

"You look really great today" Tomiwa compliments when they alight from the taxi  in front of her house.

She smiles then stopped from walking to her front door to look at him.

"You looked good too" she tells him and he chuckles.

"I know I do" he boasts then rubs his bald head and winked.

"Show off" she turns and continued walking to her front door with a smile on her face.

"You don't like it any other way" he shrugs and she laughs.

"Yeah, whatever" they were now standing closer to her front door, facing each other with never ending grins on their face.

The love they shared for each other was emanating around them and that gave them comfort to be with each other.

"Thank you for today, I had fun and I was surprised with everything you pulled off" she went on her tiptoe and placed a kiss on his cheek "Happy one year, Tomiwa" she whispered in his ear.

Tomiwa's hand went around her in a warm hug.

"Happy one year baby. This will be good for both of us" he kissed her forehead and they let go of each other. "Don't let what your sisters did to you this morning make your mood go sad," he held her face when he saw the small pout on her lips "Remember who loves you and want to be with you" he said and the pout turned to a full grin.

"You always have the right words to say"

"I do, take care okay? I'll call when I get home" he pecked her cheek and turns to leave.

Ife sighs then opened the door and entered inside.

When she was inside, she didn't see anyone in the living room or dining area and that gave her some relief so, she walked to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water to drink before heading to her room.

As she was pouring the water in the cup, her phone rang and she stopped to answer thinking Tomiwa has gotten home and if he was the one then it's strange because his house is quite far and except boarded a bike to take him straight home, he wouldn't get home till after thirty minutes.

She checked the caller and saw that it was not Tomiwa but Patrick. A smile made its way to her lips and she placed the phone against her ear when she slide to answer.

"Hey there, how are you doing?" she asked then went to drink her water.

"I am good, how are you? How did your anniversary date go?" Patrick asked and the smile on her face widened.

"I should hug you so tightly for you help towards our anniversary, you're the best that ever happened to me and I am glad that you helped make things better. Tomiwa loved everything I bought him and today was just... great" she told him excitedly "I am so happy, Patrick"

Patrick laughs "I am glad I could help in ways I can and I am so happy that you had fun" he paused for a while "How's your dad? Has the cough reduced?"

"It has gone, thank GOD"

"Oh, that's good to hear, please tell him I said hi" he tells her and she nods.

"Aye, captain" she salutes.

"I can imagine you saluting with that mumu smile on your face" he teased and she clicked her tongue.

"Abegi, everyone get wetin make them mumu"

"I don hear, anyhow sha. Take care and be safe"

"Sure, you too"

"Wait" he called out "Deborah asked of you"

She sighs "I'll come visit soon, I am so sorry that I didn't do that earlier. Tell her not to be mad at me, I'll see you guys soon" she said.

"You know Deborah can't get angry at you, ba?"

"That's why I love my baby so much" she giggled.

"Whatever, I'll see you when I see you next"

"Okay then, goodnight and send my regards to your mum and sister. I pray your mum gets well soon" she prays.

"Thank you Ife, they'll hear and amen, goodnight" he said.

Ife disconnected the call and put her phone down as the evening event played through her mind.

It was so sweet and thoughtful of Tomiwa to make sure there was enough ice cream for her to consume from the start of their date. She's loving this side of him and wants him to stay like and improve more just like she would as they grow together.

"You make me so happy" she whispered still reminiscing on what went on through the evening. "Nothing can take this smile you put on my face away" she finished the rest of the water and left the cup in the sink as she made her way to her room.

When she got out of the kitchen, she saw her two older sisters sitting in the living room talking in hushed tone. They looked to be so engrossed in their talk that they didn't notice her presence in the dining area.

Not wanting to get their attention or cause anything that would make them say something bad to her, Ife decides to walk quietly upstairs to get to her room but luck wasn't on her side as Funmi looked at her boringly.

Taking in deep breaths, she walked a bit closer to the living room to greet them.

"Good evening, sis Funmi, good evening, sis Beatrice"

Beatrice turns to look at her then gave her a once over.

"How did your date go? Or did you find something to ruin it for yourself?" she mocked.

Ife frowned at that and felt annoyed by that question but she wasn't ready for any drama that evening so she gave them a simple answer.

"It went well" she said with a smile.

"You know you're too young to be with a man, how old are you sef?" Funmi said with a hiss and what came out of Ife's mouth shocked them all.

Even their mum she saw standing by the stairs when she embarrassingly turned away from them was shocked by what she said to her sister.

Not waiting for another word, she rushed out of the living room and to her room to have some space and quiet.

"I'm in trouble" she mutters.
