Ife woke up feeling so happy and giddy.

Today was a good day and she couldn't wait to finish packing up and heading to the airport with Patrick so that they can take their flight back home for the short holiday they all had from school.

It was just for two weeks but it was more than enough for her because she and Tomiwa's anniversary is the next week and she has been so pumped for it. She made sure to pack up every gift items Patrick helped her with.

They were supposed to meet at the airport but Patrick said he will bring a cab to pick her up so they'll head straight to the airport from her place.

She and Tomiwa faced time as she prepared brunch for she and Patrick in case he hasn't eaten yet, he told her how excited he was that she was finally coming home today and she expressed her excitement also.

After she was done preparing the food and eating, she went ahead to complete her packing and get herself prepared for when he comes to pick her up.

Her phone rang and she dashed out the bathroom with a toothbrush in her mouth and her body cladded with a bathrobe. Her wet hair were flat twisted in four big parts and the water in them dripped on her robe.

She picked up the phone without checking the caller. "Hello?" she said to the phone and heard a sigh at the other end.

"Ife mi" an older man's voice sounded from the other end of the line which made her lips break into a smile.

"Daddy, e kaale sir" she greets him and she heard him chuckle which was followed by a fit of coughing. "Take it easy sir," she said.

Ife went to the bathroom to spit out the foam from the toothpaste so that she can speak properly to her dad.

"Ese my dear, how are you?"

"I am well dad, how are you? I thought you already treated this cough? Abi it came back?" she asked.

"The thing came back oo, I don't even understand again. Speaking of that, I wanted to ask something"

"Okay sir, what's that? Hope all is well?" she asked seeming worried.

"Everything is okay Ife, there's this medicine for cough and it was prescribed for me some days ago, I asked in the nearby pharmacy and they didn't have it. I was told it available on demand and wanted to ask if it's not a bother for you to buy me some?"

"Why would you think that it's a bother?"

"You know, today is the day you're coming home and I don't want to stress my princess" he told her.

"Haba, daddy. You aren't, I would be more stressed if I found out that I could have helped made it better but didn't." she told him and he chuckled lightly.

"Thank you my dear, you and Tomiwa already talked?" he asked.

"Yes, we even spoke this morning. Daddy he's changing, he really meant it and I believe him" she told her dad excitedly.

There was a pause on his end and she had to check if he was still on the line before speaking.

"Daddy, is everything okay?"

A sigh left his lips then he spoke "If you say so, then I believe" he told her.

"Why do you sound like that? You don't believe him?" a crease formed on her brows.

She know he had said some times that he would work on himself and she tried to convince her dad that he is the perfect man for her and just let him make amends of his mistakes and change as he had been saying but he never does so her dad probably don't trust him anymore.

"We are humans and we make mistakes" she would always tell him and he wouldn't say anything else.

"If you do, Ife I do" he told her.

"Okay sir, just text me the name of medicine and how many you need then I'll branch the pharmacy before heading to the airport" she said.

"Thank you Ife mi"

"You're welcome sir, do you need anything else?"

"One more thing" he said and she stopped from going to the bathroom.

"What will that be?"

"My princess back in one piece" he laughed and she joined him.

"Sure daddy, GOD will bring me back home safely" she tells him and he chuckles.

"Amen dear, see you soon and be safe. Send my regards to Patrick also, I'll love to have him over for dinner one of these days" he tells her.

"You too dad and I'll talk to him about that, bye daddy" she walked back to the dresser to keep her phone on the table when the call was disconnected.

She went back to the bathroom to continue brushing her teeth, she stopped for a while as she remembered how worried her dad sounded when she told him that Tomiwa promise to change. He didn't believe her but wanted to stay positive because he has always supported everything she ever did.

When Tomiwa told her that he was ready to improve for her and for their relationship to grow, she was happy but at the same time had doubts that it might end up as before but she didn't want any negative thinking and just believed him with hope that he is serious with it, and he was. He had been putting effort he had never put towards making things okay for them. He had never given her money for her personal care and he did that, he sent her some money, although small, she appreciated that. Anything from him is like gold to her no matter how little it was.

"Don't worry dad, you'll see how much Tomiwa has changed when I get home" she said after spitting out the foam from her mouth with a smile then she washed her mouth and went to her bedroom to finish dressing up.

After almost thirty minutes, she was braiding her hair in cornrows when she heard a knock on her door. She stood up and took her bags to her little living room with an apologetic look on her face thinking it was Patrick waiting for her.

She walked to her door and opened the door "Thought you said you'd call" she said then stopped when she saw one of her course mates, Gerald standing by her door instead of Patrick.

"I would if I had your number" he winked and her eyes widened a bit.

She was a bit taken back that he was here by her doorstep and wondered what brought him here. There was no issue with him just that he had asked her to be his date one time for a party the school hosted but she declined because she was going with Patrick. It was smart to go with someone you knew well and someone that you trust to keep your safe and Patrick was the only one she trusted.

He got offended and one time tried to beat Patrick up but Patrick being a bit bigger and taller was able to overpower him and since then she had been avoiding him so seeing him by her doorstep is questionable.

"That wouldn't be possible Gerald" she said then crossed her arms with an eyebrow raised. "What are you doing by my doorstep? Or did you miss your way?" she asked and he chuckled then looked at his side before focusing his green eyes on her pretty face.

"Good afternoon to you too Ife, and no I didn't miss my way. Least I forget, your hair is looking lovely as always" he grinned, the dimples he possessed popped by his right cheek and she did all she could to prevent herself from looking at them.

Her weakness, he wouldn't get her like that.

"It's half done, what do you want Gerald? I still have to finish up my hair before I leave" she said and he nods.

"I wouldn't take your time Ife, I just wanted to say that I was sorry for trying to jump your friend" he apologized.

"That happened about a year ago so I'm not hung to that and I am the wrong person you are apologizing to" she tells him.

"I know he's your friend and you've been avoiding me ever since that, I already apologized to him and we are cool, just wanted to apologize to you too" he shrugged.

She studied him closely to see the sorry look on his face. His eyes usually held mischief especially when she came in as a freshman and he had tried to kiss her, when he was apologizing, his eyes weren't sorry but his words said he was, the smirk he wore afterwards said he wasn't sorry he tried to kiss her and she never believed his apologies to be genuine but seeing how sorry he looked, she decided to accept his apologies.

"It's fine, you're forgiven, just don't try any mischief and we're good" she said with a small smile and he grinned.

"We can be friends?" he asked, his eyes looked expectant of a positive reply.

"I don't know but we're cool" she told him.

"I think this should work" he looked away and muttered to himself while rubbing his chin then he looked back at her. "I'll see you after the holiday, have a nice one" he said then turned to leave and she nods.

"You too," she said and watched him go downstairs before shaking her head "Such a boy" she muttered and was about closing her door when Patrick came from the other side of the stairs.

"What are you staring at?"

"Or who, you mean. Come in" she let him in "Please, you'll have to wait till am through with my hair and we have to get some medicine for my dad at the pharmacy" she said and be shrugged.

"Our flight is in the evening, we can meet up" he said when she served him some food and went to complete her hair.

He was done eating in no time and she was done with her braids, they left her apartment and she locked up then they got downstairs as they waited for their Uber.

She told him about Gerald visit seconds before he came and he confirmed that he came to apologize too. They talked about many other things till they reached the airport when she slept before their flight.
