Ch. 22Chapter Nineteen

Dara hissed and walked into the living room with a bottle of water and a pack of biscuits in her hand.

Her twin sister was sitting on the sofa with her phone to her ear while she spoke to someone on the other line.

"Yes... yes, dark-skinned Nigerian woman." She nods her head, listening to whatever the person was saying "I can't say the last place she was at but she did tell us she was shopping at a local mall this morning and we haven't heard anything from her yet"

Dara pats her twins shoulder, Dora looks at her and she mouthed 'Any news yet?' Dora motioned that she hold on then went back to her phone call.

Dora had a deadpan look "No, no. For the hundredth time she doesn't have a lover she's eloping with" she slaps her leg in frustration. "Look, I know who my friend is and I know she ain't an irresponsible person. She's an adult and knows how to take care of herself but it's unusual for her not to update us where she went or ignore her calls when she has been out since morning. Now, I'll appreciate some kind of help instead of you asking questions that aren't meaningful, please"

"People Sha" Dara muttered.

"Thank you, I'll call if anything, please try to see if you can locate her or something... Thank you very much... Okay... Bye" she disconnects the line then placed her phone beside her.

"No positive news yet?"

"Nope," Dora shook her head. "Nothing" she sighs.

They stayed quiet for a moment.

"Where do you think we can check to find Ife?" Dara asked.

"I don't know, I'm out of ideas" Dora looked like she would cry "she's never been to Paris before and I doubt she knows her way around"

"We have to go search for her, she could be lost" Dora nods in agreement.

Deborah was in the waiting room, her hair disheveled from pulling at them and running her hands through them. She was in panic.

Panic of what would happen to her brother. Panic of the damages that was done to him. Panic that she might lose the only families she has.

"Ah, who did this to you Patrick? Who?" She cried. Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.

She could feel everything crumbling around her, she needed someone. Someone who understands her and she could freely talk to.

Her mum is in the ICU, her brother is in surgery that'll determine if he'll be okay or not.

She needed Ife. Ife could understand and comfort her.

Taking her phone out of her pocket, she went through her contact list then stopped at Ife's number. Taking deep breaths in and slowly releasing it, she taps the number and placed her phone on her ear while she waits for her to pick.

'Please pick up'

Henri chuckled to himself then shows Ife the screen of her phone which has 'Debbie' showing as the caller.

Her heart raced and she was going to grab her phone but he retreats then shook his head no.

"Remember you have to behave?" Ife glares at him, her palms were formed in a fist. She was trying so hard not to swing her hand in the air and smack him right on his cheek.

'Hold it, he's a psychopath'

"You have lots of people who care about you" he comments as he puts her phone in his pocket. "Your phone has been blowing off with calls and messages" he leans on the table "Your boyfriend didn't call so, he doesn't miss you" he laughed.

When he said that, she felt a tinge in her heart. Memories of how she saw Tomiwa before coming to Paris flooded her mind and it brought tears to her eyes.

'He doesn't deserve my tears' she comforts herself.

Biting back a sob, she swallowed the bulge in her throat then let out deep breaths.

"At least I have family looking out for me" she leans on the table also.

Henri smiled thinking she might want to get closer to him.

"How about you Henri? Will your family bother calling to check if you're okay? Or they don't want you around because you're sick in the head" she points to his head.

Henri leans back, a scowl on his face.

"Aww, come on you don't want to look as ugly as you already now, eh?" She taunts.

He banged the table which startled her and drew attention to their table. Henri didn't look bothered about the attention his actions drew. He looked at Ife with eyes that could kill, eyes that could slowly and painfully draw blood from her till she has no life in her.

"Not another word from you or yo-"

"Be sorry?" Ife scoffed. "Tell me something you haven't said already" she rolled her eyes.

Henri watched Ife closely and suddenly starts to feel his palm sweat, his legs shook beneath him and he fear for falling if he stood up. What made him shake even more was the fact that there were no fear in Ife's eyes. He was scared that she didn't look scared of him anymore.

"That's what you do. Feed on the fear of women. Make yourself seem like some alpha male who has little to offer even for himself" she taunts.

"Don't you dare tal-"

"Or you'll kill me?" Ife laughed. "I wonder if you can successfully abduct a man of your size and built then threaten him as you did with me" she grinned and lean back on her chair. "This only shows how weak you are. Targeting those you feel wouldn't fight back"

"That's it, we're leaving"

"No, you're leaving me the hell alone or I'll scream bloody murder" she said. Although she sounded confident, no fear lacing her tone but deep down, Ife's heart beat two times faster. She was getting scared that she spiked him and he'll do something crazy.

Henri stood yo his feet, grabbed her things and took her by the wrists. He dragged her outside while she struggled to be free from his hold.

There were many people walking in the street and he pushed her against the wall then held her by the neck.

"I told you, no one would care enough to take you from me and I promise you this, you'll be severely puni-" he couldn't complete his sentence because the air was knocked out of him.

Ife pushed him away from her and kicked his leg so that he fell to the ground. He still had a hold on her bag so she tried to yank it from him but his grip was tight.

With that, she ran to her left, waving people off and trying to blend in so he doesn't spot her in time.

"Je t'attraperai, petite salope" she could hear his voice like he was right behind her.

Ife looked frantically at the crowd of people at the other side of the road which look like a market place.

She smiled because she knew how rowdy evening markets are. She looks to her right and her left then starts crossing. She didn't get far because a palm circled around her arm and yanked her away.

Ife felt the rush of panic sink in her being and she began thrashing and hitting the person so that he can leave her alone. The person was able to avoid every blow and slap she threw his way as he tries to bind her hand together.

She was scared that Henri already caught up with her and he'll do something nasty to her. So she cried, she cried that she didn't fight hard enough and didn't run faster.

She knew right there, she's doomed.
