Ch. 90RED (TWENTY EIGHT)

In the end, she still said yes to Red. After her call with Red, she decided to call Cashmere. It turned out she didn't have to bail out on her because she was feeling out of the weather.

“Are you sure this is what you want to watch?" Red asked her while looking at a local indie poster in the cinema. "Let's just watch Spider-Man, shortcake."

“Yup. I read the movie's reviews. They were all saying it was good," she said, smiling at him. "Come on, Red. Let's just watch this."

He twitched his lips. “Fine. We're watching that. You win."

But then while in the middle of the movie, Irani wanted to regret choosing that indie movie over Spiderman. The movie was heartbreaking. She bit her lower lip when tears started falling from her eyes.

“Irani, are you okay?” Red asked her.

She nodded shyly as she tried to wipe the tears from her face.

“Come here,” Red said before he reached for her. She felt warm when his arms were wrapped around her.

She buried her head into his chest and let her tears fall. She didn't know she stayed like that. When she finally calmed down, she finally moved away from him.

“Sorry, I wetted your shirt," she said in a small voice.

He smiled. “It's fine, shortcake. I didn't know you're a crybaby, tho."

She snorted and rolled her eyes at him.

“Ugh, I hate you."

He chuckled. He raised his hand and gently wiped the tears off her face.

When Irani looked around, she noticed that people in the movie house were already leaving.

"Come on, let's go," Red said, holding her hand.

When they reached outside, she noticed that Red's eyes were a bit red.

"You cried, too?" she asked, perplexed.

Red looked away. "Of course not."

"You're denying it," she said, squinting her eyes at him.

He just pursed his lips at her. Then he pointed at a Japanese restaurant near them. "Let's go, shortcake. Let's eat ramen.”

“Wow you're wearing an all red outfit, Irani,” Cashmere commented.

Tonight was their Freshman’s Party. Every freshman student in the university was invited to the party that night.

Everything she was wearing tonight was in red. From her gown to her purse.

The party was already starting when they arrived. Irani looked at the stage and saw Grey's drum set there.

Flying Colors will be the one performing tonight. A moment later, the four members of the band already appeared on the stage.

Red… He was wearing a long-sleeved white polo that rolled up to the middle of his arms. And a red necktie. His hair was brushed up in a sexy way. He was beyond handsome tonight. Darn.

Red looked around. Then his eyes stopped at Irani. Her cheeks heated up when she saw the admiration on his face. Suddenly, butterflies were dancing all over her stomach.

Her heart fluttered more when he smiled. Instead of socializing with her classmates, all Irani wanted to do was stare at Red. She couldn’t believe that Red could do this to her.

Every time a male classmate was talking to her, she saw how Red's thick eyebrows knitted.

Darn. He looked so cute. She remembered Red's text message to her earlier.

Please don’t dance with another guy. Stay loyal to your suitor.

During the middle of the party, Grey prepared a surprise for Cashmere. Grey announced in front of the crowd his feelings for her best friend.

Before the party ended, the band performed another set of songs again.

But Irani didn't expect when Red took the mic from Blue during their last song.

"I'm sorry Blue but I have to steal this mic from you,” Red said on the mic. He scanned the crowd and stared at her. “This song is for you," Red said, smiling at her.

“Irani...” Cashmere muttered beside her. "Why is Red looking at you?"

"I have something to tell you, Cash," Iran said to her best friend. “Red… he's courting me."

“SO… you’re wearing red?” Red said, giving her a teasing smile. They were inside his car. Red drove her home after the party.

Irani's cheeks heated up. “Well, red looks good on me," she reasoned.

Red raised his brows at her. "So you finally admitted now that I'm suited to you?"

She snorted at him. "I was talking about the color, not you."

Red let out an amused chuckle. “Yeah, right.”

He stopped the car on the lamppost a few meters from her house. After he got out of the car, he opened the door of the front seat and handed his hand to her.

"Let's dance. Come on, Cassidy. You didn't give me a chance to dance with you."

"Are you serious? We don't even have music, Red?” she asked.

“I’ll sing for both of us,” he said. “Or maybe I don’t need to sing. Our heartbeats are enough music for the both of us.”

“You're corny,” she chuckled as she accepted his hand. And like what he said, they danced under that lamppost. There was no music except the sound of her high-heeled shoes and the synchronized beat of their heart.

While she was staring at Red's eyes, a realization hit her. She was in love with him. She was in love with the guy she used to call a monkey before. She was in love with Riley Edward Dela Merced.

“Red… I like you,” she muttered in a soft voice. She bit her lower lip. “No…” She swallowed and shook her head. “I think I’m in love with you—”

Before she could finish, his lips captured hers. They shared their first kiss under the lamppost. His lips… It was the sweetest thing she ever tasted in her life. She felt like she was floating on air at that very moment.

But then they stopped kissing when they heard a loud bark of a dog. Her eyes widened when she saw a large dog running in their direction.

“Oh, my God, Red!”
