Ch. 52INDIGO (TWENTY FIVE)

STEP 3: Even though you want him back, sometimes, you have to make him feel that he's not the only one.

After reading the third step written in the notebook, Chastity couldn't help but remember how Indigo rejected her when she tried to ask him to be her partner for the upcoming acquaintance party at their college.

“I hate to admit but I think Mark's right. Indigo might still be in love with you, Chas,” Karen told her while leaving the auditorium. “I mean, Indigo won't come here and check on you if he isn't concerned about you! He even gave me some alcohol and cotton! That means he cares for you!"

“Besides, you told us that during your performance he wasn't paying attention and only looking at his phone. If that's the case, then why did he know that you wounded your finger? It means he's really paying attention. He's just acting like he's not.”

Chastity bit her lower lip to stop herself from smiling. Hope filled her chest. Maybe these two were right. Indigo still has feelings for her.

That's why, the day after the audition, Chastity looked for Indigo.

“He’s with Kassandra, Chas,” Red told her when she saw him and Blue at the cafetería.

"Thanks, guy," Chastity said to them before walking away. He continued to look for Indigo. She found him walking near the soccer field. But he wasn't alone. He was with Kassandra. They were laughing together.

Chastity bit her lower lip. She missed his laugh. But it was painful watching him laugh with a girl who was not her. Something painful enveloped her heart.

I think he still loves you, Chas.

But despite the pain in her chest, Chastity continued to walk towards Indigo.

“Indigo," she said as she stopped in front of them.

Indigo's smile suddenly faded. His face turned grim as he looked at Chastity.
“What, Chastity?" he snapped at her.

She swallowed the lump in her throat. “Can we talk? I have something to tell you."

Indigo's brows furrowed. “If you're going to say something, say it now, Chastity. I'm busy."

Chastity took a deep breath. She then glanced at Kassandra who was giving her curious looks before her gaze focused on Indigo.

“Indigo, can you be my date at the Acquaintance party?”

“No," came his cold reply.

“Make him jealous, Chastity," Karen told him after her best friend found out how Indigo rejected her.

"Show him that even if you like him, he's not the only guy in the world. Show him that there are a lot of guys who are interested in you." Karen smirked as she eat her nachos.

“Because he rejected you, you should look for another partner for the acquaintance party. Someone who Indigo will be jealous of."

Chastity pursed her lips. “I don't know a lot of guys here in the uni, Karen.”

Karen smirked at her. "You know who's the perfect guy to ask? Mark. Remember, Indigo got jealous of him the day of the audition."

Chastity pursed her lips while looking at her best friend.

“How about you, Karen? Won't you get jealous if I ask Mark to be my partner at the party?"

Karen exaggeratedly widened her eyes at her. “What! Of course not, Chastity. Why would I be jealous? I told you I don't like Mark!"

"Really, Karen?"

Karen rolled her eyes. "Gosh, Chas. I already told you I don't like him."

Chastity then took out her phone and started texting Mark.

Hey, I have a favor. Do you already have a date for the acquaintance party?

Chastity immediately received a reply from him.

I still don't have… since your best friend declined me.

Chastity then turned to Karen after reading the text. “Mark asked you to be his date at the party?”

Karen just shrugged as she continued to eat. "Yep. But I said no."

Chastity went back to her phone when she received another text from Mark.

Why are you asking? You want me to be your partner in the party and make Indigo jealous?

She answered his text with a yes.

Alright. I can be your date at the party. But on one condition, Chastity.

“So what did Mark say? Did he agree to be your date?" Karen asked.

Chastity pursed her lips. "He said he'd agree to one condition." She showed her cell phone screen to her best friend.

A date with Karen. :) said Mark's reply.

Karen scrunched her nose in annoyance. “I will never date that jerk,” Karen snapped.

Chastity gave Karen a puppy look. “Karen, do it for me, please. Come on, it's just one date anyway."

Karen rolled her eyes, but then she still nodded in the end. "Fine, Chastity. I'd agree to a date that monkey for you."
Chastity smiled wide and hugged her best friend. “Thanks, Karen! You're the best."

Mark fetched Chastity and Karen that night of the party with his car.

Chastity slid herself onto the backseat. Karen was about to follow her when Mark stopped her best friend.

"Come on, Karen. You're my date for tonight so you should sit here beside me."

Chastity pursed her lips as she watched her best friend roll her eyes as she settled into the front seat.

Karen was wearing a red tube dress while Chastity chose to wear a long-sleeve midnight blue dress.
Mark was wearing a black tuxedo that fitted him perfectly.

Chastity smiled to herself when she noticed how her best friend kept on stealing glances at Mark.

“Don't forget our plan, Mark," Karen strictly reminded him when they arrived at the campus.

"I know, Karen," Mark confidently answered. He then gave Chas a smile when they reached the entrance of the hall where the party was being held.

“Are you ready to make him jealous?” he said, holding out his hand at her.

Chastity accepted Mark's hand. “Do you think it will work?”

"Trust me, it will, Chas," it was Karen who answered before she went to some of their classmates.

Mark then handed her a black headband that matches her dress.

“Wear this. It’s a glow-in-the-dark. You’ll need that later.” He said, smiling mysteriously at her.

She was about to ask Mark when her attention suddenly went to the stage in front. The four members of the Flying Colors were already there.
