Ch. 49INDIGO (TWENTY TWO)

Chastity glanced at her bedside table. It was already eleven in the evening. She should be sleeping by now but she was feeling restless.

Instead of lying on the bed, she took her phone and looked for Indigo's number.

She took a deep breath before typing a message.

Hey, Indigo.

Chastity's heart thumped when her cell phone pinged.

Who's this?

Chastity bit her lower lip. Instead of answering Indigo's question, she typed in a different message.

I miss you, strawberry boy.

For sure, Indigo knew her number by now. It was only her who used to call him that.

How did you get my number? Never mind. Just stop texting me.

Let's talk, please. I need to talk you...

She waited but there was no reply from him.

Why don't you want to talk to me? Is it because you still have feelings for me?

STOP. TEXTING. ME.

Instead of replying to his message, she decided to dial his number this time. She didn’t expect him to answer but he did.

“What do you want?” his cold voice welcomed her from the other end of the line.

His voice was cold as ice. It was far from the sweet voice he used with her.

Chastity bit her lower lip. “We need to talk, Indigo. I have something to tell you.”

“Say it now. I don't have time for you."

Chastity shook her head even if Indigo couldn't see her. “No. I want to say it to you in person.”

She didn't hear any reply from Indigo this time. She thought he already ended the call. But then she heard his deep breath.

“Indigo, please...” Chastity pleaded.

She heard Indigo's sharp intake of breath. “Where are you right now?”

Chastity's lips parted. She didn't expect Indigo's answer. "I'm staying here at my best friend's house." She then told him the exact address.

“Wait for me outside,” he said coldly before ending the call.

Chastity hurriedly fixed herself. She put on a cardigan and applied lip tint to cover her pale lips.
She took one last glance at her face in the mirror before she went out of her room.

Chastity hugged herself while waiting for Indigo outside of Karen's house.

A black sedan stopped in front of her. From there, Indigo went out. He was wearing ripped jeans and a white hooded jacket. His diamond earring glimmered in the dark.

His chinky eyes were looking at her with so much indifference. “Whatever you want to say, say it now. I only have fifteen minutes to spare for you.”

Chastity bit her lower lip while looking at Indigo's face.

Something clenched her heart the way he said those words. The tenderness in his eyes was gone. Everything has changed.

“I'm sorry...for hurting you. For breaking your heart.” Chastity started. She swallowed the lump in her throat before she continued. “I’m sorry for not listening…I’m sorry for doubting you.”

He smiled. But it was a sarcastic one. “Your sorry was two years late...”

“I still love you. I never stopped...” she admitted, a sad smile on her face.

“What happened to that suitor of yours, huh?” Indigo asked, his voice cold as ice.

Chastity shook her head. “Nick didn’t court me. I just asked him to pretend he was to push you away. But I never stopped loving you, Indigo.”

Indigo only gave her cold stares. “I'm sorry, too, Chastity. But I don't love you anymore. I'm not the same boy who would do everything for you.”

His words were like a knife that stabbed her heart. She looked at him with full determination in her eyes.
“I will make you fall for me again. I will bring back the Indigo who's in love with me."

Indigo smirked. “You will just waste your time, Chastity... I will never go back to you again.”

STEP number two: Remind him/her of the past.

Good morning, strawberry boy.

Chastity smiled to herself after sending that text message to Indigo. She kept on texting him sweet messages even if he doesn't reply to her.

Indigo loves everything with strawberries. So before she went to school, she bought strawberry-flavored doughnuts that they always eat back in high school.

That particular day, she didn't have a hard time looking for Indigo. She found him in the cafeteria. He was eating lunch. He was at a table along with his two bandmates.

Holding her tray of food, Chastity walked to Indigo and his friends' table. “Excuse me?” Chastity cleared her throat as she stopped at their table.

Blue and Red looked at her while Indigo's eyes were still on his food. “Can I sit here?”

Indigo lazily lifted his gaze at her. She met his cold stare. “There are many vacant tables available so why would you sit here with us?"

“Indigo, you're being rude,” Red snapped at Indigo.

Chastity bit her lower lip as she continued to look at Indigo. “I just don't want to eat alone. And since you're the only one I know here...”

“You know her, Indigo?” Red asked, looking at Indigo with curious eyes.

“She was my schoolmate before in Davao,” Indigo answered with indifference on his face.

Schoolmate.

Chastity felt like something pinched her heart with what Indigo just said. But then she still managed to smile.

“Oh, wow," Indigo said before turning to Cashmere. The guy gave her a friendly smile. “You're allowed to join us…”

“I’m Chastity,” she said, smiling back at him.

“Nice to meet you, Chastity. I'm Red, this is my cousin Blue.” Red pointed at his cousin who also gave her a friendly smile.

It was only Indigo who was giving her a cold look.

“Indigo,” she called him as she settled on the seat across from him.

“What?” he asked with furrowed brows.

“I brought you strawberry doughnuts.” She picked up the small box on her tray and placed it in front of Indigo.
But Indigo didn't even look at the box on the table.

Chastity noticed how Red and Blue's lips parted as they both looked at the box of strawberry donuts.

“Indigo doesn't eat strawberry-flavored foods. He hates strawberries,” Red said.

Chastity's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she looked at Indigo. He doesn’t eat strawberries? But...that's his favorite.
