Ch. 42INDIGO (FIFTEEN)

“READY, baby?” Indigo asked Chastity when he fetched her for their date.

He was wearing a white v-neck shirt, ripped jeans and a black converse shoes.  His diamond earring looked perfect on him. Darn. He was gorgeous.

“You look like a rockstar,” she commented, taking in his look.

Indigo held her hand and brought it to his lips. “And you look like mine.”

Chastity but lower lip to stop herself from smiling. Indigo was a really sweet boyfriend.

“Where do you want to go?” Indigo asked her.

Chastity wanted to go to an adventure park but she realized she also needed to consider what her boyfriend wants. She still couldn't believe they were together now. She still feels giddy every time she thinks Indigo was already her boyfriend.

“Hmm, how about you? Where do you want to go?” she asked him back.

“Let’s go ziplining.” He smiled and winked at her. "You said you want adventure, right?"

Indigo drove to the nearest adventure park in their province. Chastity was smiling wide as she looked around the place. She closed her eyes and inhaled the fresh air. But then her brows furrowed when she noticed Indigo was suddenly silent beside her.

His face paled more when the staff started to put on their harness.

“Are you sure about this, Indigo?" she asked him. "You seemed uncomfortable. Are you afraid of heights?"

Indigo turned to her and smiled. He even shook his head. "Don't worry, baby. Your boyfriend got this." He confidently winked at her.

But then Indigo suddenly lost all his confidence a minute later. Indigo held her hand tightly as they ziplined together.

"Indigo? Are you okay?" she asked after the staff took off their safety gears.  His face was paper white. Beads of sweat tricked on his forehead. “I thought… you're not afraid of heights?"

Indigo pulled her for a hug. “I can face my fear as long as you're beside me," he whispered softly. “Just let me hold you for a while.”

Chastity hugged him back and gently rubbed his bag. "You should've told me you're afraid of heights, Indigo."

"Hmm, it's fine, baby. I want to do the things that would makes you happy."

A warm hand enveloped her heart. "You're making me fall for you more, Indigo."

After leaving the adventure park, they went to the famous Crocodile Park and Philippine Eagle Center. They spent a whole afternoon there before going to Magsaysay Park to eat dinner.

“What does it taste like?” Indigo asked her.

Chastity noticed that Indigo was looking at the group of people near them. The group were eating a native fruit durian. The said fruit was famous in Davao.

Chastity looked at Indigo in disbelief. "You haven't tasted a durian in your whole life?"

Indigo pursed his lips. "I haven't, Chas."

"Then come on." Chastity held Indigo's hand and pulled him towards the stall who was selling durian. "We're gonna eat durian now."

“Are you two tourists?" the middle aged vendor asked them.

Chastity smiled. "We're not, Ma'am. But my boyfriend here used to live in Manila. He's still new here so he still haven't tried eating durian." Chastity handed a portion of fresh durian fruit to Indigo. "Come on, taste it."

She wanted to laugh when he saw his reaction while eating the fruit. His handsome face was screaming in disgust.

“You didn't like it?" she asked, pursing her lips.

Indigo shook his head. "I'm sorry, baby. I love you but I can't pretend that I like it."

"It's okay, Indigo," she smiled. "At least, you know how it tasted, right?"

They decided to sit on the breakwater and watch the night sky while eating street foods.

“I’m excited for the prom,” Chastity said. She smiled at Indigo was she rested her head on his shoulder.

Next week was going to be their annual promenade. It was also the day of her birthday.

“What do you want for your birthday?" Indigo's soft voice filled her.

“Hmm, I only want one thing, Indigo." she said

"And that is?"

He looked at him and smiled. "Your heart, of course."

Indigo smiled back. “You didn’t have to ask for my heart. It was already yours, baby.”

“MA, why are you calling?”

Chastity and Indigo were already on the way home when her mother called her on the phone.

“Percy is missing, Chas!” her mother said on the other line.

Chastity lips parted in shock.

"We've been trying to look for him in the neighborhood."

Chastity felt the corner of her eyes heat up. "I'm coming home, Ma. Just please, keep looking for Percy."

“Baby, what's wrong?” Indigo asked beside her after the call ended, his face full of concern. "What happened to Percy?"

“My dog is missing, Indigo!” she turned to him, her eyes burning with hot tears. She bit her lower lip to prevent her tears from falling down. “It was my fault, Indigo. Maybe he felt my coldness towards him, that's why he decided to run away." She had been ignoring her dog after he urinated one of her precious book.

“Sshh… It's not your fault, Chas.” Indigo gently cupped her face and caressed her cheek. “Stop worrying, baby. We're going to find Percy, okay? Come on, let's go home."

Together, they tried to find Percy on the streets near her house.

“Percy!” she shouted in desperation, her eyes looking around.

“Indigo, what if someone took Percy?" Chastity asked. They had been searching for two hours already but they still didn't find any trace of her dog.

"What if something bad happened to him? What if he got hit by a car? He's still a baby, Indigo." This time, Chastity couldn't stop the tears from falling.

“Please, stop crying, baby.” Indigo softly said, wiping her tears. He cupped her face. His chinky eyes were full of love as he stared at her. “Promise. I will bring Percy back.” He planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "I'll bring him back safely to you, baby."
