Ch. 39INDIGO (TWELVE)

Indigo turned her back to her, but even before he could take a step, he looked at her again.

“Did you forget something?" she asked him.

His lips curled in a teasing smile. “You forgot to give me a goodnight kiss.”

Chastity blinked. Then her lips parted. "What?"

Indigo's face broke into a grin. “I'm just kidding. You should've seen your face.” He chuckled softly.

She was about to hit his chest when a flashlight lit up near them.

"Indigo!"

Her eyes widened in panic when the light of the flashlight struck the tent just near them.

She immediately pulled Indigo behind their tent to hide.

"Come on. We have to hide for a while. You can't be seen with the girl's camp."

Indigo just shrugged his shoulders and gave her an easy smile. “I don’t care. You are worth the trouble, Chas. Besides, I wouldn’t mind doing another community service with you.”

She rolled her eyes at him. “I don't think we'd only get community service if someone caught us right now."

Indigo and she remained hidden behind the large tent. None of them make unnecessary movements.

Indigo slightly pulled her closer to him. "Look at the stars, Chas. They're beautiful."

Chastity looked at the sky, and her lips parted in awe.

“Wow…” she whispered. The sky was full of stars. “It's beautiful.”

It was a new moon, so the stars were shining brightly in the sky that night.

“Yeah. The sky's beautiful. Jsu like the girl beside me right now."

Chastity turned to Indigo. She found him staring at her, not at the sky above them.

She playfully rolled her eyes at him to hide her raging heart. "Shut up, Indigo."

But then Indigo continued to look at her with his serious face. Then his hand reached for the strands of her on her face and tucked in behind her ear.

 “You’re beautiful, Chas.”

Indigo looked straight into her eyes. The way he stares at her makes her heart beat triple.

His face slowly descended into hers. She closed her eyes and waited for his lips to touch hers.

Bolts of electricity traveled through her veins when their lips met.

His lips tasted like chocolate. It was soft and sweet.

Even if she didn't know how to kiss, she felt like her lips had their mind of their own. She just realized she was kissing him back the way he kissed her.

Her heart was beating so fast when their lips parted. She then bit her lower lip and looked away. She was sure her face was as red as strawberries now.

 “Chas.”

Her eyes went back to Indigo. She bravely met his stares.

“Please, don’t get mad at me," he whispered.

Her gaze went down to his lips. His lips were red and wet from their kiss. “I'm not mad at you, Indigo.”

His face relaxed. A soft smile appeared on his handsome face. She couldn’t help but smile back at him.

“Uh, I think we're safe to go now, Indigo. Come on, let's go back to our tents now.”

Indigo helped her get up. Then he walked her to their tent and watched her get in before he walked away.

The moment she lay down on her duvet, her cell phone lit up for a text.

Good night, my vanilla girl. Dream of me, hmm?

Chastity bit her lower lip and typed in a reply.

Good night, my strawberry boy :)

“You're close with your cousin  Deanna?” Chastity asked Indigo while they were walking to the gates of the campus.

“She's my only cousin from my mother’s side,” Indigo said. “I grew up in Manila so we seldom see each other before. But I love that cousin of mine. Even though she is a brat.”

Chastity couldn't help but chuckle at his last sentence.

“You're not on good terms with her?" Indigo asked her.

Chastity pursed her lips. “She often says that she hates me. She feels like I'm always trying to compete with her."

Indigo shook his head and gave her a small smile. “Her parents spoiled her. That's why she's like that. But she's actually nice if you actually get to know her.”

Chastity smiled at Indigo. "Well, I hope we can be friends in the near future."

Indigo smiled at her. Then he suddenly held her hand. They were already at the exit gate of their school.

“Chas, I actually have something to tell you.”

Indigo turned serious as he looked at her face.

"What is it, Indigo?" she asked.

But then before Indigo could speak, his cellphone rang. He excused himself and answered the phone in front of her.

“Deanna? What happened?” Indigo said on the phone. His brows furrowed as he listened to the other line. Then he let out a sigh. "Alright. I'll be there, okay? Wait for me."

“What happened?" Chastity asked after Indigo ended the call.

“Deanna's in the clinic.” Indigo sighed. "I have to be there, Chas. Come on, come with me."

Indigo held her hand and pulled her back inside the campus.

Even though Deanna and she were not on good terms, Chastity couldn't help but feel worried about her.

They found Deanna in the clinic. She has a big cut below her knee that was being tended by the nurse in front of her.

“Indigo!” Deanna looked relieved when she saw Indigo.

But then she frowned when her eyes turned to Chastity. "What are you doing here, Chas?"

"She was with me, Deanna," Indigo answered. “What happened?” he asked as he went near his cousin.

Chastity remained standing near the entrance.

“I fucking tripped, Indigo,” Deanna said in an annoyed voice. Then she sniffed as tears suddenly fell in her eyes. "I hate it, Indigo. My legs would no longer be flawless."

Indigo sighed as he gently wiped the tears on Deanna's face. “Stop crying,” Indigo said softly. “It's just a small wound, Deanna.”

She couldn't help but smile as she watched Indigo and his cousin. He really was caring. She suddenly wondered how it feels to be taken care of him.

It had already been three days since they went home from their camping trip. They hadn't talked about the kiss that happened between them. But since that day, Indigo had become extra sweet to her.

Even if they hadn't talked about anything yet, Chastity knew that something in them changed. Indigo and she were more than just friends. He likes her, too.

After the nurse finished tending Deanna's wound, Indigo went to her. “I have to take Deanna home, Chas. I'm sorry I can't walk you home today."

Chastity smiled at him. “It's okay, Indigo. Uh, I'll just see you tomorrow?”

Indigo held her hand and brought it to his lips. Chastity felt like something melted in her. “Take care, Chas,” he said softly. “Text me when you get home.”
