Haidar Jega

First of all, I couldn't even bring myself to imagine the fear I felt when I thought the gun had hit Lailah. I don't know why, but I felt like I had lost the world when I heard that crash. My mind had a million thoughts running through it. But I was glad she didn't die at least.

Today was a Saturday and the big day which I had come to Dubai was finally here. Sahib, Nailah, and I attended the same university where we attained our Masters in Business Administration. My dad made sure I attained that immediately after I attained a degree in medicine. I met Nailah while doing my Degree, she was all I ever wanted in a woman and I immediately fell for her the moment we spoke.

"Sahib, did the police find out what happened?." I and Sahib were dressed in our tuxedos. I was wearing a brown tux and so was he. Sahib was tall and had a special fashion designer. I mean it's not every day you see a 7 feet tall man.

"It was a stray bullet. Because it was a police gun that was fired, apparently there were robbers in the next house" Sahib said. I sighed in relief.

"That's good, I thought it was a planned event," I said.

"What's the time?" He asked. I took a quick glimpse at my wristwatch. "7:55 pm, damn where could Nailah be?" I said to sahib. Nailah was coming to Dubai from Canada, she told me she had already arrived in Dubai though and had to go shopping. I swear women work!

"Is Lailah coming as well?" Sahib asked me. I nodded. I had arranged she was gotten a brown gown, the color of the day was brown. I hated it but then we are in a world where women rule. The men had no say at all. I told you before, women are working.

"Haidar, do you think I can have a dance with her? To tell you the truth, I like Lailah" He said. I was holding onto my phone and it fell. I immediately bowed down and retrieved it from the floor.

"You like her?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I do." He said.

"As in you want to date her?." I asked and he nodded.

"Man you must be drunk. She isn't the type of woman you'd like, she's very plain and very annoying. You wouldn't like her at all, I'm sure you'll find someone better." I said. He chuckled.

"That's what I like about her, she's very beautiful and very organized. She's what I want in a woman" He said. I felt a bit of jealousy wash over me, I wasn't happy about his feelings toward her at all.

"Okay, if you say so. You can ask her out. If she agrees then you are in luck, because I doubt if she even has time for men" I said. He still smiled.

"I'll go ask her out, right away. But I will not tell her that I want to date her though. I'll just go out with her as my date to the dance" He said. He immediately dashed out before I could speak. Of course, I wouldn't let that happen, it's not that I love Lailah or anything of that sort. I just couldn't stand the thought of her with any man at all. It annoys me. Okay, I don't like seeing Lailah happy with anyone elder. It sickens me.

Just then, my phone began to ring and when I checked the caller ID for some reason I hissed. It was Nailah "Hey babe," she said immediately after I picked up the call.

"Hey, Nailah how are you?" I asked dryly.

"Babe you don't sound like yourself, did that stupid bodyguard..." I cut her off immediately.

"Don't call her that, she isn't stupid. Where are you?" I know. I sounded harsh. She seemed to not care as she proceeded to tell me her reason for calling, ignoring my nasty tone.

"I'm going to meet you at the party. My dress got ruined and the designer is working on fixing the mistake. I love you" she said before immediately hanging up. She sounded happy.

"Haidar let's go" Sahib walked towards me In the living room with Lailah standing next to him. She was looking amazing in the brown gown. Her hair was covered with a turban she tied around it. I swear she looked really beautiful though her makeup was very light. Just powder. Her brows were bushy so she simply arranged them.

"Where is Nailah, hasn't she arrived?" Sahib asked.

"Nah, she'll meet us there," I said. I couldn't Avert my gaze from Lailah Dk. She looked really beautiful.

"Oh okay. Let's head out shall we" He said. "And one last thing, Haidar meet my date to the dance, Lailah," Sahib said dramatically and she chuckled. Yes, she smiled at him. Like a real smile, she had never done that around me.

"That's nice," I said dryly. I pretended to pick a call and instantly dashed out.

They both of them joined me in the Ash G-wagon. Lailah sat in front while sahib and I took the back. I didn't say a thing to sahib throughout the ride, for some reason I was angry at him.

The ride wasn't that long because the venue was very close to Sahib's house. We alighted out of the car immediately. Sahib ran over to the front to get the door open for Lailah. He was tall so they looked like a perfect match, but I wasn't gonna admit to that.

"Thank you Sahib" She smiled at him as she held his large hands. She seemed happy today. I couldn't even get my eyes off the scenario in front of me.

"Aliyu Haidar, aren't you coming out of the car?" Sahib said. I hissed. I didn't utter a word to him and stormed into the venue immediately.

"Is he okay?" I heard Lailah ask Sahib when I was about entering into the big hall.

I entered the decorated ballroom, it looked well decorated. I could see a whole lot of familiar faces, I couldn't help but smile when my old coursemate approached me.

"Aliyu Haidar, how are you?" Colin asked. He was one of my close buds while I was doing my MBA. I gave him a quick hug.

"I'm good Buddy," I said.

"Where's your Girlfriend?. Didn't she accompany you?" He asked.

"Yeah, she's on..." I was cut short when Lailah walked over to us smiling happily.

"Wow is she your new girlfriend?" Colin asked.

"No Colin, she's my friend," I said. I didn't even know if I was lying or saying the truth. Was she even my friend?

"Oh, hey pretty lady. I'm Colin by the way" He stretched his arm for a handshake. Well, trust Lailah to shoot him a very deadly glare. He immediately retrieved his arm.

"See you around Haidar," Colin said uncomfortably before running off.

"Why are you always very mean?" I asked her.

"I'm not." She said.

"Why did you leave your date? Aren't you guys supposed to be all lovey by now?." I mocked. She hissed loudly.

"My Job isn't to go on dates. I'm here to guard you" She said.

"But you said you both were..." she cut me short.

"Yeah, but I left him to come to stand beside you," She said. For some reason I felt really special, I smiled.

"What is on your neck?" I asked her. There was something on her neck. She seemed a little distressed as she tried cleaning it off.

"It's a smug of powder" I chuckled. I decided to get my handkerchief and did what was necessary. I got closer to her and began cleaning it off. She stared me in the eye while I did it and immediately looked away.

From nowhere, someone instantly turned her around and pushed her to the floor. "Stay away from my boyfriend you bitch" Nailah threw a cup of whine on Lailah.

"Are you mad?" I yelled at Nailah.

"You are mad! You are cheating on me with this slut. This Whore"

Wham!

Yes, I slapped Nailah on the cheeks.
