Lailah Dk

I stayed in the restroom for close to thirty minutes. I was just sitting on the slab in there and was scrolling through Instagram. For once I didn't feel the need to go outside and keep an eye on Haidar. Tony was doing that and I felt comfortable with him so I appointed him to guard Haidar for the two days I would be busy with the wedding. Like I had said, Hajarah was a simple person and there was no way she was going to have an event that'd last for 2 weeks like her elder sister. Those weeks were the worst for me and Hajarah. Believe me, I hated myself at that time.

I heard the door knob turn and I immediately got down from the slab to await the person that would walk in. I saw a masculine shoe and I realized it was a man so I got alarmed. Wasn't this the lady's restroom? What was a man doing in here? Pervert, yeah only a pervert would come in here.

"You! what are you doing in here?" I said. It was The prince and he was wearing a genuine smile on his face for the first time.

"I should be asking you the same. What are you doing in here?" He asked. He sat on the slab.

"I'm resting," I said. I took a seat on the slab as well.

"You are supposed to be with your friend," He said.

"They are a lot of bridesmaids out there, I doubt Hajarah would even need my help," I said. "Why are you in the lady's restroom?" I asked.

"Am I?" He queried.

"Yeah, you are," I said.

"Oh, I didn't know," He said. I wondered what was wrong with him. He was acting weird and a bit calm. This wasn't him, I think he got possessed. "Well Bye, Thank God you did not faint again," He said. He stood up from the slab.

"You came to check up on me?" I asked.

"Of course not. I came to check up on my image. Because if you faint here, the bloggers will not write DK Fainted at Hajarahs wedding. But the Bodyguard of Prince Haidar Aliyu Jega was found unconscious. Nope, I will not have myself trending on Twitter once again" He said. What a lame excuse. I hissed.

"Oh, I see. Me fainting won't tarnish your image, Haidar. You are acting weird" I said. He chuckled and rolled his eyes before opening the door and walking out. Haidar was a very weird man but I wasn't going to waste my time thinking about him. He was just someone I would depart from in a year or two. I know I would get my third star and I would not be a bodyguard to anyone any longer. But a general in the army. I couldn't wait to earn my badge. Yeah, indeed I was very young, but with brains like mine. They would have to promote me.

I arranged my dress properly before walking out of the restroom. I left there and headed straight towards Hajarah. "I'm sorry, I had to make a call" I had to lie when I saw the death glare she was throwing my way. I looked over at her groom, who was seated next to her and smiling happily as the dancers performed. He was handsome and looked extremely calm.

"I'm just glad you are back. Junaid and I are going to dance. Slow dance with the groomsmen and bridesmaid" She said. I bent down and was listening to what she was saying.

"Count me out!" I said. She laughed, softly.

"Common, it'll be fun. Have some fun Lailah Dk" She elbowed me. I laughed. "Whose crazy idea was this?" I asked.

"The bridesmaid, they said it'd be fun," She said.

"Dancing with strangers is no fun. You and I know this is some crazy idea of theirs to dance with the groom's men right?." I said.

"Not just any groomsmen. The girls have put a bet on Haidar, You are not on the group chat that's why. You would have seen the commotion about dancing with Haidar." She chuckled.

"I pity whoever will dance with him because he won't smile. One bit" I wanted to say but I simply just chuckled.

"See you on the dance floor, people are beginning to wonder what conversation we are having," I said. She smiled before I left to go take a sit on the tables designated for the bridesmaids. I didn't want to sit with this gossip but well, I had to endure all this for Hajarahs sake. I took my phone out and began scrolling through Instagram again. I was scrolling through the northern marriages page and reading some funny stories. Something about that page always made me laugh. It was really funny.

"Our couples dance is a go! Please call the bridesmaids and groomsmen should come forward" When I heard that. I didn't budge. But all the girls seated next to me were up within seconds. I bit my lips and turned to stare at Hajarah who was Already standing with Junaid. Her groom. She gave pleading look and I just found myself standing up and walking over to where every bridesmaid had stood. You were to face your dance partner and everyone already had a dance partner except me. Well, I might as well turn around and go sit down, so I thought until I saw a masculine figure stretching his hand out for mine. I looked up to see the prince, standing before me with a smile on his face. I wanted to vomit. I could see the other girls staring at me with great jealousy in their eyes. God, I hated what was happening but I had to comply and I took his hand. The Whole groomsmen bowed, while we the bridesmaid curtseyed. Hajarah seems happy with her groom, she was blushing like a secondary school girl. I chuckled inwardly while staring at my friend. Suddenly, Dandelions began to burst through the speakers. It was the slow version of the song, it sounded romantic. We all began to slow dance with the light deemed. Haidar and I danced slowly. I didn't look up at all, my head was down. I couldn't bare to see his face, I felt nervous. Yeah, I was nervous, oh my God! This was a first. How could he have such an impact on me? He had held me before but I never knew how his touch felt until now, the cool atmosphere made the dance romantic.

"I think you are the one for me..." the song played. "You look beautiful." I heard Haidar say and I looked up for the first time to stare at him. He twirled me around and caught me immediately in his arm. He smelled so nice.

"Huh?. You said?" I pretended not to have heard.

"I said you look ugly," He chuckled. "You love putting on charades, don't you? I know you heard me the first time." He said.

"What makes you think I did?" I asked.

"Your eyes!" He said. He stared deep into my eyes and I did the same. "They are beautiful" He added. Okay, that's it, I was done with this dance. I let go of my grip on his shoulder and turned around to walk away, But he caught my arm.

"Where are you running to? We are not done dancing" He said.

"I'm done," I said before storming off. I couldn't breathe around him any longer. I hated the impact he had begun having on me. What was wrong with me and why was I suddenly losing my guard out there? If there was one promise I would make to myself now, was to not allow myself to have feelings for anyone. Not even the Handsome Rude prince, Haidar Aliyu Jega.
