Ch. 74Chapter 74

Soo Mi and her family could not be found anywhere else in the Kingdom because of the barrier spell that Ageddon created. Crono’s sins had magnified for accusing the King. As a punishment for all the crimes he had committed, his three children were killed, too, to make sure that no one else would cause misfortunes in Arameth.
Killing was an act of mercy for the Armethians. For them, it was the easiest punishment of all that’s why nobody liked that. Under a different situation, I knew that the people would have wanted Crono’s family to suffer more. But they were in a hurry to execute their revenge against the people whom they treated as half-Armethians, they were in a hurry to make Crono experienced pain and loss.
After that, Crono was pushed inside the portal together with his parents that were all pure-blooded Armethians. But before that, he made a vow that he would come back one day to have his revenge. There were rumors that his parents died right away in the human realm because their bodies deteriorated drastically. After knowing that, only then did the people of the Arameth felt pacified.
Six months after Crono was tossed away in the mortal world, Ageddon introduced Soo Mi to the public and married her.

AGEDDON’S parents knew what their son did but they turned a blind eye because Ageddon was their only child. Aside from him, there was no one else to continue the Sormont blood line.
Ageddon paid a hefty price to some Armethians who pretended to be Soo Mi’s relatives. Those people were needed to prove her residency in Arameth so that nobody would doubt her blood line. Ageddon had planned everything perfectly to avoid what happened to Crono’s wife. Because of the potion, Soo Mi and her family became supernatural beings which was ten times stronger than the King. From light brown, their eye color changed. They became gray. That was the sole eye color of the Armethians. That was also the reason why we are easily recognized whenever we visit other kingdoms.
But no matter how the Sormonts tried to hide their secret, it was still leaked when Soo Mi gave birth. Because their heir was born as half-mortal. It was easy to distinguish because of my eye color which was light brown. The other proof was the aquatic dragon mark on my wrist. A pure-blooded Armethian was supposed to have his mark on his arm. For my countrymen, it was an indication that I would not be able to live long. Those proofs were seen by the members of the Council who were all present when their Queen gave birth. I may have inherited most of my parents’ power and abilities, but not their lifespan. I could only live for about a hundred and fifty years. Because of the combination of my parents’ strength, from the day I was born, I had been hailed as one of the strongest Armethians in our history.
Uncle Jin Woo had also found his true love. He later on got married to a pure-blooded Armethian woman. My four cousins were born just like me. The Council only knew about me and my cousins being half-blooded. But they still believed that Crono was the one who stole and used the elemental crystals. Every member of the Council owed my parents a lot that was why they vowed to keep our secret. Besides, they were aware of my power since birth that’s why none of them could question my humanity and my right to inherit the throne. But we knew that if the Council discovered about our biggest regret, then nothing could stay hidden anymore that’s why we had to be extra careful.
Through a spell, my cousins and I could hide our original eye color from the public. In the end, it was Ageddon who had the best of everything. He had only lost his best friend while Crono had lost each and every important person in his life. The latter was furious because he was in pain. And I would become the world’s most insensitive jerk if I would not be able to at least understand that. I was born because of Crono and his family’s sacrifices. I would not forget that. The man and his family had to be the sacrificial lambs for the Sormonts. That was something that I could never stomach no matter how many years may pass.
When I could no longer stand the emotions I was seeing in Crono’s eyes, I gulped and lowered my head. “In behalf of my family, I am sorry,” I whispered in a throaty voice. “I am truly sorry. I know that no words could appease you and could make you forgive us and that is understandable. I understand how much you detest me and my family and believe me, just like you, I detested my parents, too, when I found out the truth.”
When I lifted my head, I saw how Crono’s eyes became fiercer. I opened my hands. In just a few seconds, the Knights froze, including Theron and every single person near us. Through that, whatever spell Crono would use, the people within the area would not be affected although they could still see what was happening. But they would not be able to break-free from my spell unless I allow them to do it. It was the only way I could keep them safe.
Everything I did from the moment I found out the truth, I did them not only to become the King. I did that to atone for my family’s sins, too. I know that my family was with me. They were doing their very best to pay back, too, but even if we combined all of the lives in our clan, it would still never be enough to compensate for the thousands of lives who suffered and died back then.
When I turned to Crono, I looked at him with pleading eyes. I spread my arms. “Just do it to me, Crono, I beg you."
