Ch. 40Chapter 40

“I also don’t know what would have happened to me if I didn’t meet you eight years ago. Maybe I would still be in Rotterdam living monotonously while waiting for my death. But meeting you that fateful night taught me how to live in this world and how to eventually love it. I love you so much, Alison. I love that I met you.”
Remembering all the things that led me to this moment brought a tear in my eye. “I love that you exist. I love the fact that you could be someplace else today, and with someone who is so much better than I am, but you chose to be here with me instead. You know what the truth is? You don’t really need me in your life, Alison. You are surrounded by so many people who loves you and would protect you even without me. If I didn’t come in every scary thing that took place in your life, a mortal is still bound to come for you. Because it’s not your time to die yet. I’m the one who truly needs you. If not for you, I wouldn’t have been the man that I am today. So, thank you, Alison, for passing by that road that night, for bravely tending a wounded man, and for urging him to live no matter how messy and playful the world could be.”
I passionately kissed Alison on the lips before she could say something again. Because I knew that if I let her be, she would talk nonstop again.
Next time, I will let you do the talking, love. You could even talk our whole lives and I would happily listen.
Slowly, I felt Alison respond to my kisses. And I also felt my heart alive and happy again. The person that I was with made the moment, the place, and the kiss became perfect. The page of my life had finally been flipped. I don’t know what was waiting for me in this page. All I know was that this page would certainly be like no other.
When we released each other’s lips for a moment, I looked up at the sky. The sun had already set. But the hope inside me remained rising.
They are wrong. You are real, God. You exists. You are the strongest among us all. And You are the kindest as well. Even if it took me a long time before I met You and recognize You, you still did not let me down. Thank You for this opportunity. Thank You for making me meet her just when I needed someone the most.

(Theron)
I WAS about to walk towards young master to show him the latest report about Arameth that I have gathered but I stopped in my track when I saw him and the young human in the garden together. They looked so peaceful. Young master Alexandros was sitting on the blanket that they laid on the grass. He was reading a book quietly while Alison was lying on his lap and sleeping comfortably.
I have always known that this human would be the key to change the young master’s life. I never thought that I would see the day that he would smile brightly like this again. I’m glad I did not give up persuading him and that this human did not give up in reaching his heart.
When the young master glanced at my direction as if he had sensed my presence, he put his two fingers on his mouth as if he was trying to silence me, worried that he might awaken Alison. I nodded and smiled.
“I understand. I will come back later, young master. Enjoy your day,” I mouthed.
His eyes glowed when he smiled. “Thank you, Theron,” he mouthed back.
I just nodded and gave him a hand salute before turning my back towards them. A tear fell from my eye. It’s been so long since the last time I saw the young master like this that it was making me emotional.
“I hope that your days will be filled with nothing but happiness from now on, young master. This is your time to be happy now. You can leave the rest to me. I will take charge now,” I whispered and flicked my finger.
In just a few seconds, the envelope I was holding burned. Young Master was doing fine now. He didn’t need to know about this report anymore. Whatever was happening in Arameth now, the people there deserved it.

(Alison)
“ALISON, you left your phone in my car. And I heard it ring several times before I got here. I think there’s an emergency.”
I’ve immediately stopped chatting with the male doctors when I heard what Alexandros said. He invited some of the doctors from the hospital that he owned for the monthly check-up of the elderly in the home for the aged that he was sponsoring. He said that all the people there were the closest to his heart because they reminded him of his parents.
Today was the first time that Alexandros invited me to go to the very place which he considered as his hideout that’s why I was really excited to meet the elderly and to help as well through donating food and some of their basic necessities. The two-storey house used to be his ancestral house. But he donated it about three years ago and turned it into a haven for the elders.
“Please excuse me for a while,” I told the doctors. I smiled at them before I went out of the facility and went to the parking area. I felt Alexandros followed me there. He was quiet and although I was not showing it, I’ve been feeling a little nervous. I noticed that he was in a bad mood for a while now. When he came to pick me up in the mansion, he seemed to be okay. But for some reason, his mood suddenly changed.
