"Oh! Really... I wish I could go too but I haven't even finished my homework."

Last bench of the Class 10-A.

I am Megh, 19 years old and my winter vacation just started.

'ding dong'

New Horizon Academy released it's winter vacation notice and all students are gossiping about it.

"Well! What am I gonna do?" You ask.

"Nothing more just as usual reading and passing time. There's no school work for me to do. Well I am one of the diligent ones. Already finished two semester's worth work.

This school has been running for more than fifty years but its gate is still not repaired.

Hmm,... well there is no need to. No-one cares and there is no violence within school. No-bullies and no drama everyday. A normal school with quality education one would imagine to go to.

"Hey! Megh."

"Hello! What's it Aakash?"

"I have been searching for you in the hallways and you're here."

"What's the matter?"

"Take this book. It's that which you've been fussing over past whole week."

"Oh! You got that book. Nice! Now my winter vacation will pass smoothly. Thanks!'

"No worries! Well I gotta go okay. Return it to Uncle Bihan after reading. He was the one who helped me get it. I read some chapters but didn't liked the plot and character seems off. Bye"

"Hoho Bye bye"

Aakash, only friend since elementary schools and he is black belt in Taek-Wondo. He helps me with hard stuff and I help with school work so it's a give-take-combo. He has a girlfriend and always hurries to go home. Homework? Scarcely he does but he is a nice guy when you need help though.

"What are you dwadling for lousy brother?"

'smack'

"Aack! Anu...Why did you hit my head?"

"Why were you dawdling over into he sky?"

"It's nothing!"

"I know its that you don't have a girlfriend and are jealous of your friend Aakash. Right?"

"NO ! It's not like that."

"What No? I know it's that and that only."

"I was thinking about this book he gave me which I asked for lately."

"Which one?"

"This one. 'Adventure in Time Travel Lakeside'.."

"That wierd one. Why don't you get something exciting?"

"Exciting? Like!.."

"Like horror or mystery books. This one is another nerdy book of yours. Always into science fiction. Bro! Gotta come out into reality too. Okay.. Well I am off to the market. Mom asked for vegies when I return so bye. Go home directly and help mom."

"Okay!"

She was my sister. Just 18 months apart but always acts like she is the older one.

Nothing bad cause I like the way she encourages though.

While conversing with her I found something new genre to read too. I'll try reading mystery novels in the bookstore.

"Hmm! Were there any such books in Uncle Bihan's store? Well gotta find."

At Home.

"Mom! I'm home."

"Come here after freshing up. I made some sandwiches for you and your sister. Where is Anu?"

"She went to the market for some vegies you asked to her in the morning."

"Oh! Almost forgot. Hmm, How  forgetful have I become huh?"

Going to the room upstairs and I looked through the book.

"what a flashy name but if what Aakash said about the plot, it might get boring to read it, but anyway time will pass for sure.

A cold breeze of early winter struck my cheeks and slight shiver ran sown my body.

"Mom! Where are my woolen sweaters?"

I shouted to mom and after some time she replied.

"Look in the old box in the store-room."

Ugh! if they are there then sweaters are sure smelly.

I washed them and hung outside in the mild sun for drying.

Climbing down stairs I saw sister coming out her room and she had her sweater on.

"Oh Anu had already washed her sweater." I satired.

"Yep! i am not like someone lazy goose only dug up in the books."

Her reply made whole house vibrate.

"Okay okay sit down and eat up before sandwiches are cold. Uh this weather change. Food are soon colder."

Mom looked outside and fazed out.

"Mom!"

Sister shouted and mom came to her senses.

"When is your papa coming back?" Mom said and went to the kitchen.

"Brother! I have some maths problem to solve. Help me okay!" Anu said.

Her voice felt like an order more than a request.

"Sure! Which chapter is it?"

"It's Trignometry. I hate it. Help me nicely okay. Cause you have nothing to do anyway."

"Hmmm!?? I do have a book fo read though."

"Hmph! Mine first."

"Okay?"

While we were snatching at each other papa came back tired. He went for sales. We produce handknit caps, sweater and woolen bags too. So, he travels far and sell those to the merchants.

"Mom! papa is back." Sister shouted.

Mom peeked out of kitchen. Papa went to fresh up and came soon after.

Sitting down he asked, " How is your classes going?"

"Nice and fast." I said.

"Mine are as clumsy as it can be though. Umm papa did you bring back what I said to?"

"Hahaha yes i did. How long is your holidays this year?"

"Just a month and half." sister said with dissatisfied tone.

"Is that so?"

"Yes! Because there is going to happen inter-school competition soon and principal wanted one from class should participate from whole school and to finish the courses soon."

"Only summer vacations will be long." Sister said with mouthful of food.

Mom brought hot tea with basil leaf in it and sat down.

"How was the day?" she asked to papa.

"Nice than ever."

After evening snacks, mom and sis started with dinner preparations. I closed all windows as cold air was sneaking inside and making us chill.

Soon, night sky and cold vibe seeped around. With hot dinner meal and nice chat with everyone, I went up to my room.

As soon as I opened my room's door, sister shouted,

"Bro! My maths problems."

After that, it took whole two and a half hour of fight with the maths problems and night already became deep.

I postponed reading book for tomorrow and slept.
