Ch. 13Twelve

The psychiatrist's clinic was very formal, while Dylan's has a friendly ambience. So this what a pediatrician's clinic looks like, huh.

There were some educational and cartoon character posters that were plastered on the wall. There was also a small room which seemed to be a mini playroom. The mirror was transparent so she could clearly see the collection of toys in there.

"You have a very cute clinic.” She turned to Dylan who was standing behind her. She smiled at him.

Dylan playfully raised his brow. “As cute as the owner?”

“You're not cute, Dylan. You're gorgeous.” She bit her lower lip after realizing what she said.

“Can you repeat it again, Sandra?” He asked while smiling from ear to ear.

Her cheeks automatically turned red. She could feel her heart start to beat faster. He was obviously teasing her.

Damn… she felt melting under his stares.

She pursed her lips. “So what if I told you you're gorgeous? It's no big deal because you really are, Dylan." She cleared her throat and averted his gaze.

“So, you really find me handsome?” His tone sounded really amusing.

She rolled her eyes and tried to hide her reddened cheeks. "Do I have to repeat it to you?"

He chuckled softly. “You have no idea how those words made me happy. So, yeah, I wanna hear it again and again.”

Dammit. His voice sounded so husky and sexy and her heart was starting to beat frantically.

She took a deep breath and decided to sit on the couch. Her knees started to get weak because of the way he looked at her.

He was looking at her as if he was interested in her. Or maybe it was just her imagination again.

“Come on, Sandra. Just say it one more time again.” This time, he was pouting like a kid. Oh, crap, he was so cute and handsome and gorgeous at the same time.

Despite her racing heart, she couldn't help but smile at him.

“You really are one gorgeous man, Doctor Dylan Laxamana. Happy now?”

“So damn happy.” He smiled. And that melted her heart.

“Can I ask something?" she curiously said. "That day, when I went to Dr. Leonard's office, why are you there? I mean... you should be here in your clinic, right?"

He took the vacant couch across from her. “I was actually hiding from someone.” He paused for a few seconds before he continued. “I was hiding from an ex-girlfriend.”

She frowned. Ex-girlfriend? Why was he hiding from an ex-girlfriend?

“Why are you hiding from your ex?” She asked what was on her mind.

She just realized that she still has a lot of things that she didn't know about Dylan. About him being a doctor, she knew nothing else about him.

“She was chasing after me,” he answered. “I broke up with her months ago but she keeps on bugging me.”

She raised her eyebrows in curiosity. “Why? What did you do? Did you get her pregnant or something?”

She didn't want to ask that question but that was the only thing she could think of right now.

She wouldn't understand why a woman would keep on clinging to an ex-boyfriend who dumped her. She had been dumped five times, but never once did she chase after those men.

It was already enough that she got hurt. Chasing after them would hurt her bleeding ego more.

“Got her pregnant?” The corner of his lips rose. “That's impossible. I'm always protected.”

Her cheeks heated up with his honest answer.

Her lips pursed. “What a playboy.”

She didn't know if she would be happy that Dylan hadn't gotten anyone pregnant or if she would be disappointed because he had just confirmed that he was a playboy.

Dylan’s face turned serious. “I was a playboy before. I won’t try to deny that. I've hurt women in the past, Sandra.”

She fell silent. She knew Dylan Laxamana was kind… sweet, caring. The past few days, she had only discovered beautiful things about him. It even came to the point that she thought he was perfect.

But now, she realized that he was not perfect. He had flaws, too.

“What I've been telling myself before, I would only get serious in a relationship when I finally find the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with," he continued. “But when I met you, I suddenly realized that I was wrong. You made me realize that I should've never played with any woman's heart...”

He sighed. “I wouldn't blame you if you changed your mind about me, Sandra. I'll never blame you if you think of me now as a jerk.”

“You're not a jerk, Dylan,” she said with a small smile. “I don't think you are one.”

She should be turned off by what she had learned about him. But she felt the opposite. She wanted to admire him, in fact.

He was a playboy. He wasn't perfect as she thought. But he didn't deserve to be called a jerk.

For her, he was still the Dylan who made her smile and laugh. He was still the man who took care of her. He was still the same man who wiped her tears and comforted her.

 “You think so, Sandra?”

She nodded and smiled at him. “Unless, you're still a playboy until now?”

He answered her smile. “I'm trying to be a good man now. Since I met you, I started to be a good man.”

Her heart skipped a beat. “W-why?” Why did you start changing when you met me? What happened, Dylan?

Dylan stared at her. His eyes were boring into hers and she could feel herself slowly melting. Damn. He's really got beautiful eyes.

She met his eyes and waited for an answer when the door opened. Mae entered the room. She cleared her throat when she looked at us.

“Doc, sorry for disturbing you, but there's a patient waiting for you outside.”
