Ch. 6The Compassionate King

There will be no one who will lay their hands on Zito's woman, even if she's a human being that is easy to get rid of.

The council's objective now is to unite and solidify all of the covens from different parts of the world. Instigating a conflict with the Fortuna will not help them achieve their goal, especially now that they badly need this clan's influence to reside and live in the Philippines without getting discovered. If there is a government for humans for systems, protection, and human rights, there is a Royal Reverent for immortals who share the same sentiment.

Now that the world is progressing and technology keeps improving, there's a strong possibility that their existence will be revealed to the public. They can't hide like what they did in the past, when they inhabited isolated areas that humans didn't step into. Assimilating with humans and pretending to be like them is the best camouflage to hide their true nature.

That idea came from the immortal who acted as the head of the Royal Reverent. It was none other than the original and oldest immortal that lived in the twentieth dynasty---Ramses Trinity.

Right on cue, the door opened and the immortal that Raven served entered with grandeur and elegance. Ramses entered the lounge with his hands in his pockets and walked directly to the podium. The crowd automatically kneeled down to show their reverence and respect for the King.

Afterwards, Lorien passed a glass of wine to Ramses. Ramses thanked the guy and raised his glass. "I'm glad that you all came here, friends. I know that all of you here didn't come to celebrate or give your blessing to Zito." He looked at Zito, and Zito raised his glass to him as a response. "But still... I want you to understand that this is Zito's decision. I also want to show everyone that the Royal Reverent can't control the lives of each member of the coven. The council exists to protect all of you here, along with your clans."

"Is that really true, King?" Cyphrus questioned Ramses right away. This immortal is the number one critique of Ramses. "The ones you really want to protect are the humans, right? That's why you created the council."

"Yes," Ramses answered without pretense. His facial expression remained calm. "What's wrong with wanting to protect them? They are the reasons why we still continue to live, but some of us were the reasons why many of them died. If I take the side of those immortals who killed humans and broke the law, it's like denying what's right and what's wrong in front of me, Cyphrus. If you really want to consider yourself superior to humans, don't use the food chain, my friend. That's what wild animals do. Those animals that can't even think. Tell me, are you a predator or are you a noble?"

Some of the immortals there hide their smirks, and some try to suppress their laughter. Even Lorien and Rick have traces of grins on the sides of their mouths. Everyone knew in that crowd that the clans were divided into two parties. It's like politics with an administration and opposition. Because they are descendants of old royalty, the Hemsworth, Dorado, and Fescilli are in opposition.

These individuals have abundant pride, and they can't really submit to Ramses totally because he was from Egypt. But because the other clans have unshakable loyalty to Ramses, like the Blacksmith and Baltimore clans, who control the power of Royal Reverent, these opposing clans couldn't overthrow the current king, and they had no choice but to abide the law of the council.

Ramses Trinity became the king of immortals not only because he was an original ancestor but because he deserved to be one. When Ramses awakened from his deep slumber in the nineteenth century, he did unite some of the clans who had treated each other as enemies. Ramses swore that he wouldn't create an immortal ever again before he fell into slumber.

That's why the Trinity clan has only two members: Ramses and Raven. Although Lorien is a Trinity, he's not an immortal. He was the great, great grandson of their previous butler in Estonia, Julio. Ramses took the seven-year-old child under his wing when the kid lost his parents and became an orphan. Currently, Lorien manages the business and other wealth of Ramses in different countries.

Blood packs saved millions of human lives. It was the solution that Ramses accounted for a civilized life for the immortals. Who would have thought that they are the ones behind the Red Cross and some of the most famous big hospitals across the globe? However, the quality of blood from blood banks is lower than fresh blood. And because of it, some immortals are still prepared to drink blood directly from a human.

Those selfish monsters who couldn't control their thirst were the ones who killed humans like prey. They called them Nomads. And those nomads are being hunted by the Royal Reverent to execute them because these dangerous monsters will put their identity in jeopardy.

Drinking blood from a human was not really banned. As long as you didn't put the life of the donor at stake, and you properly hypnotized them to avoid getting discovered, you would not be condemned by the council.

Their venom is not contagious or deadly, so it was not really necessary to kill humans. Only criminals that are fond of murdering their victims would do such a thing."
Give me a good reason why I want to be a noble and listen to you, King." Cyphrus didn't cut down on his remarks.

"Because I'm trying to find a way for us to live without the brand of a monster," Ramses simply answered. "And because you know what I'm capable of. I can kill you, Cyphrus. Easy as breathing. Less complicated than this conversation." Ramses' blue eyes glowed in proof that he was serious.

That's the difference between a king and his subjects. Ordinary immortals have red eyes. But Ramses' eyes are azure blue, like a blaze of flame that can burn anything that will stare at them.
