Ch. 2CHAPTER 1

Lahynna shrieked when she slid through the muddy weirs. She was so annoyed with her brother Lanryd. Instead of helping her catch some worms she needed for her school activity tomorrow, he just left after sending her to the farm. That brother of hers was so busy chatting with their cousins here in the countryside.
It’s been a while since the last time she visited their grandparents, and she used the worms as an alibi to visit them. Lanryd gladly joined her and offered his help but didn’t fulfill his promise.
Lahynna was in her third year of college and currently taking Biochemistry at L University. That’s her parents' alma mater. She was three years older than Lanryd, and the latter was a graduating student in Senior High School. Well, he is the only sibling she had, and their relationship was like the other siblings.
She was about to stand up when she felt someone grabs and pull her from her arm. She turned to the stranger who helped her.
Lahynna gasped upon seeing how stunning the guy was. He had a fair and smooth face. He had those beautiful pale red lips… a turned-up nose that compliments his handsome face. Even though his hair was messy, it just simply suits him. She couldn’t decide if he just awakened or what. His eyes were a bit reddened. But they were like jewels, glittering in the light of the sun.
She could not find a word to say; she smiled at him. His handsomeness just made her speechless.
Wow!
Based on his height, she could tell he must be between twenty-three to twenty-five years old. Must be four years older than her or maybe five?
“This part of the farm is a bit slippery, Ms. If you wouldn’t be very careful, you might fall in the mud.” He said without any trace of emotion.
She was surprised when the guy cleansed her feet at the creek of the field.
“T-Thanks.” She could not find a word to say but thanked him.
The guy looks intently at her for a moment. He was as if seeing something interesting from her. Did she have something in her face?
“You weren’t a resident here. It’s the first time I saw you here.”
“Ah, yes. I'm from downtown, but I studied in the city proper. My grandparents were residents here. I just came to get school materials tomorrow.” She pulled out the clear glass container with some soil in it. “I need to get worms.”
The guy frowned. But it didn’t last long. And even though she could not understand his expression, she still wanted to look at him. He has something that stirs her curiosity.
“Alright. I'll help you get some.”
Without a second word, the guy slopped down the muddy field. He till the mud and looks for the worms. When she was about to slop down as well, he stopped her.
“Just let me do this. Stay there.”
She was about to protest when he spoke again.
“You'll get muddy. You’re wearing white.”
She couldn’t do anything but wait for him in the weir—curiosity overflows her. I was curious why he was helping me when he didn't know me.
“It’s better if you try looking at the moist part of the land. It was so rare to find worms in the mud.” She suggested.
“Alright. Let’s go there.” He was pointing in a particular direction.
He cleanses his feet and hands at the creek and starts to walk past me. I followed him. We passed over a cabin. Maybe that’s where the workers of this land take their rest.
“Stay here. I'll look for the worms.” He said.
But she decided to follow him. When the guy turned to her, she stopped walking. She stayed where she was.
Not so long after, he found one. It’s petite and skinny. When he came near her, Lahynna opened the container and let him place the worm inside.
“How many worms do you need?” He asked.
“Maybe three is fine. If everyone died, I still have some reserved worms.”
The guy went back to the field. She could tell that he was trying hard to avoid the crops while plowing the soil. And it fascinates her. He was not stagy nor fussy. He doesn’t even care if he has mud all over his arms and feet. By the kind of skin he has, she could tell that the guy was not just a simple person. She doesn’t think he is a farmer's son with skin as fair as a commercial model. He seems smoother than I am when I almost bathe with expensive lotions and moisturizers.
“Don’t you think someone might scold us or yell at us here?” I asked loudly at him.
He turned to me for a while. And her heart seems to stop beating when he appears to look different from afar. He seemed more stunning while the wind was blowing his side bangs. His fair skin seems to glow from the light coming from the sun.
She could not help but smile. It seems so enchanting to watch the beautiful view. His body appears to print on his semi-body fit white t-shirt every time he moves. He looks like those Asian shoulders in the movie Descendants of the Sun. She could not help but get thrilled in her own fantasy.
And what makes him more handsome is that he doesn’t care how good-looking he was right at this moment.
“I know who owns this part of the land. He'll never scold us.” He assures her.
Lahynna stays silent. She could not take her eyes off him. Even if she ordered herself to look away, she could not. It was as if something enchanting ruled her to watch him all day. And she was very much willing to follow.
He is a looker!
Just a while and he went back with worms in his hands. Two big worms. She smiled widely. If it was because of the worms or because he went back to her, she could not tell.
She tried hard to keep herself from touching his smooth face. Why did she feel so much attraction towards the guy? Is it because he was too handsome for his own good?
