Ch. 3Temple

Temple of Sares was two miles away from the Vierris Capital, it is located on the border of the two kingdoms, Vierris and Kigona.

Hellion would reach it instantly if she used her teleportation spell but she still felt dubious whenever she tried to cast it. What if she got trap in the void in between? Who knows what will happen when she cast it consecutively. She would rather travel for hours in a horse carriage than risk her safety.

She learned a lot, growing up. That there was a large gap between magic and physical abilities. That few people pay attention to weaponry, that most of them rely on magic. She even looked forward to the time when everyone could no longer wield magic. Hellion believed that at least she would be able to survive then.

Her mentality led her to become cold and quiet. As she finally became well-known for her own abilities in the martial world, she became satisfied and silently praised herself. Even if no one praises her, the voice in her head would so she wasn’t bothered in the slightest.

Hellion leaned over the window. Her hand swished the curtain away and began to admire the roadside. The mountains on the way to the temple are simply stunning. Hellion was always captivated by them every time she looked at it. She’s been jumping from hill to hill as she practice her skills and naturally she had a good mapping on her head.

The crystal trees greeted her as the carriage moved slowly on the kingdom’s border. The gates are only a kilometer away from the carriage but she could already see the lush greens on the other side. The crystal slowly opened and Hellion felt the fresh breeze touching her cheeks.

“Its really nice to be out.”

The kingdom is covered in crystal and the air is filled with thick magical energy. It always makes her feel suffocated every time she breathes but now she can feel herself relaxing as she inhaled the fresh air.

Hellion closed her eyes, letting the air softly touch her cheeks.

As the carriage moved along the road, Hellion saw some bandits ahead waiting for an ambush. She silently take out the dagger on her waist as she locked her gaze on the group.

However, the group’s target wasn’t her carriage but the other one that was on the other road.

‘Oh well.’

Hellion put back the dagger on its sheath and just relaxed. As long as she wasn’t the one being attacked, she wouldn’t care regardless.

Her carriage passed by the group of bandits and after a while, she heard screams from the distance and only uttered one word on her mind. ‘Pathetic.’

In this world, strong rules over the weak. No matter how high your status, groups of lowlifes would dare to kill you without fear. So what if you are a prestigious family’s son. To them you are merely a prey.

Hellion silently thoughts as she paid no more attention to the dying scream she was hearing.

There at the bloody scene, the bandits took every single possession of the helpless woman who weakly reached out her hand as she painstakingly tried to get a certain necklace on the bandits hand.

“Please give it back…”

The woman said as she tried to grab the pendant away, however as soon as she almost reached the pendant with her finger, her hand was shortly pinned by a knife on the ground as the blood trickled excessively.

The thief only glanced at the pendant for a moment and simply threw it on their stash. Soon, the scene was abandoned in the desolate forest with the lady’s soul screaming helpless.

The pendant slipped from the stash as it fell on the ground. The robber didn’t even bother looking back so the necklace was left ignored.

A passerby who was a man in a dark cloak thoughtfully picked it up. There were still some traces of fresh blood in the silver lining and the necklace seems to have been dropped.

He got a whiff of blood from a certain place and just silently went towards it as he put the necklace back on the extended hand amidst the whirlpool of blood.

He then paced around to follow his own target who was already far on the road.

Hellion fell asleep on half of the journey and as soon as she opened her eyes, she was already in the vicinity of the temple. Hellion fixed herself up as her disheveled appearance was instantly cleared up.

The coachman opened the door for her. Hellion leaped out of the carriage as she instinctively shielded her eyes.

Her line of sight was greeted with a bright light coming from the tall, white structure in front of her.

The stairs elevated in front of her as the harsh white steps welcomed their guest. Hellion didn’t know where to look at all. Her vision was smeared with white and any moments now, she could feel herself going crazy.

Hellion felt irritated and finally teleported on the top of the stairs without a second thought. She then sighed and look at the place where she came from before.

Strange? Why does she sense an unfamiliar energy following her? Was it her imagination? She glanced down as her eyes traveled to every corner. No one.

After some time, she got annoyed by the white light and just proceeded on walking towards the temple.

On the way in, she saw a bunch of mages wearing whites, carrying their own staff and some ornaments. The mages were chatting happily on the side as they started showcasing their skills or whatsoever. If Hellion didn’t know the place, she’d believed that she just entered a cult.

The parade of whites made her head hurt a lot as she walked across the hallway. Hellion decided to find the Priestess fast so she could finally state her business and leave this place.

Her eyes traveled across the hall as she start looking for that particular person.

‘She’s not here?’

Hellion continued to walk in the innermost hall and headed towards the altar. The Priestess must be there. She thought and finally stepped inside the altar.

Her guess was accurate and after some time. She found the Priestess with her followers.

Astria finally saw her and greeted her with a smile. Her followers from behind also bowed politely as they greeted her with a smile.

Astria then said. “It’s been a while, Your Highness.”
