Ch. 21Last will

The inside of the limousine where Jenny now sat is too silent, which only heightened the tension consuming her from within. Carl didn't sit beside her but chose to the one opposite her.

He had not said a word to her since they left the airport, he just kept staring at her. It made Jenny nervous and a little self conscious. She wanted to ask him to say something, anything-because his silence is too consuming, but decided against it and kept her mouth shut.

A few minutes ticked by and not one of them uttered a word, until the limousine finally came to stop.

Jenny looked out the window and immediately felt puzzled when she saw that they are in front of a hotel, the hotel where she usually stayed in whenever she came to the small island of Caracia to visit her mom.

She glanced towards Carl with a frown on her face, and that forwn only deepened when she saw Carl smiling.

"What's the meaning of this?" Jenny managed to asked. Though her voice sounded steady, nothing inside her can be considered as such. Even the expression on her face painted what she was truly feeling in that moment.

"Don't you recognize this place?" He questioned.

Unable to understand what Carl was getting at, Jenny asked why he brought her to the hotel and not at the mansion.

Her question received an evil laugh from him. He was laughing like a deranged lunatic which sent shivers down her spine.

"The mansion is no place for a thing like you, did you really believe that I asked you to come home because I wanted to marry you?" He asked mockingly.

Jenny only stared at him. She is lost for words, and unable to truly decipher what Carl is implying.

"So, if I'm not here to marry you, why am I here then?" Jenny whispered. Her tone was low, and if the inside of the limousine wasn't engulfed in silence, Carl would have missed what she said.

"You'll be staying here for a duration of six months. I'm not going to marry you Jenny. You're here because of my father's will." Carl explained.

Jenny huffed, she glared at him and asked, "Then why did you ask me to come here for marriage? Why didn't you make it clear earlier on that everything is about your father's will, we could have spoken about that over the phone?"

"Our marriage is the will." Carl answered nonchalantly.

Jenny might have been consumed with fear for the previous hours, but what Carl said instantly overshadowed that fear-making way for an anger which she never intended to come forth.

"Why the hell would your father ask us to get married? He spent half his life hiding me from you!" Jenny can't help but scream.

Her anger didn't seem to affect him in any way, because he only answered her with a shrug. Carl didn't even bother keeping eye contact with her.

Jenny, mortified, and completely appalled by the revelation, can't even form a word. A preganat silence reigned between them for a few minutes, before Carl spoke again.

"I believe Jenny, my father wants us to be together in the end." he whispered.

"Bullshit!" Jenny yelled.

What transpired next happened so fast, Jenny wasn't able to react on time. She felt like the air was knocked out off her lungs when Carl grabbed her arm and shoved her down the limousine's floor. The sudden action rose a well hidden trauma inside her, forcing her to struggle against him. She clawed on his cheek and tried to pull at his hair. But all her fighting came to abrupt stop when Carl gave her a painful slap on the cheek.

With eyes blazing in fury, Carl hovered above her, gritting his teeth while saying, "Do you think I want to marry you? You, who's tarnished and stained multiple times by someone you don't even know?

When those words came out of Carl's mouth, Jenny suddenly fell mute. Her body began to convulse. She felt like her breath suddenly froze in her chest. She bagan to hyperventilate, and as she did so, Carl loosened his grip on her hand-which at that time is pinned together above her head, by one of Carl's hand. Light-headedness soon followed as bood slowly oozed down her nose.

She felt the metallic liquid escape her nostrils, but she didn't panic, because it is a scene that always happened whenever the memory of two painful incidents during her teenage life flooded her thoughts.

After the bloody nose, tears followed, joined by a convulsion which soon took her out of consciousness. But before completely losing her sight, she vaguely saw Carl's eyes suddenly taking a softer gaze, she can't be certain-but it appears like the anger written in his visage was suddenly erased from his face, and was soon replaced with concern.

She can't remember what transpired after that, because when she awoke, she found herself inside a hospital's emrgency room.

She knew it was a hospital, because she can smell the strong odor of lemon and disinfectant in the air. She can hear numerous voices calling out for a doctor or a nurse accompanied by constant movement of feet from all around her. She wanted to open her eyes and let them know that she is finally awake, but went against it.

She took that moment to internalize and understand what Carl said to her earlier. Though the words "Tainted and don't event know," kept ringing at the back of her head-she managed shove them away, and pulled out the memomory of the conversation she had with Carl before that. Carl said his Father's will is their marriage. But what does that even mean? What does," My father's will is our marriage even mean? It didn't make sense to Jenny. Old master Richard will never let his son near her, not since the day Carl...

Her thoughts was interrupted when something pricked at her shoulders, she opened her eyes and glanced beside her. A nurse with a syringe was standing there, clearly in the process of giving her a shot.

"To calm you down," the nurse muttered, as an answer to Jenny's silent query.

Jenny didn't respond. She closed her eyes and prayed. She can tell by the the events inside the limousine that Carl had something in store for her. Something vile and meant to make her suffer.

As she eyes the nurse beside her Jenny started to regret not giving herself the option of running away. She could have tried, but again, would she have succeed?

"Your things are taken to the hotel, you will remain there and come when I call, " came a cold order from someone to her left. She didn't have to turn her head in order to know that it was Carl speaking.

"Just do what you plan to do Carl, I'm prepared," Jenny answered.

She heard him chuckle and he walked away from her, but he made sure that she heard him say, "You're about to regret everything you've done to me."

Next thing Jenny heard was the sound of the emergency door closing. She shut her eyes and tried to channel towards her mind, whatever courage she can summon from her heart. Because she is aware-hell is about to reighn down on her.
