It was the next day already. The sun was scorching and the ultraviolet rays was way too harsh on everyone.

By the time I got to class, I was so thirsty. I could drink three cans of water if offered one at the moment.

"God, I overheard Senior Blessing talk about another inter house sports practice today." Rachael hissed angrily.

Almost everyone in the class groaned.

"Hopefully, it won't be another evening practice." I muttered under my breathe.

Rachael turned and faced me with a certain look. "Let's pray so."

She then stood up and carried her chair towards my desk.

What was she up to?

"Why do you always like minding your business? Like, you don't talk unless you're bring reckoned. So, I'm really perplexed hearing that from you." She finally settled down beside me.

The close proximity of our seats was quite uncomfortable for me. Why? Because I didn't know if I still stank of urine.

And I definitely didn't want another person that wasn't in Emerald hostel to know of that issue of mine.

I shifted my chair.

She shifted hers too.

"You're acting weird. Or should I say fishy?" She pointed out suspiciously.

"Why would you think that?" I clocked a brow.

"I thought you wouldn't talk. You know, I was in the music room yesterday when you had that encounter with Mr King."

When I didn't speak, she continued. "It was exhilarating. No one knew you would get that mad and stuffs like that. You're just the calm, gentle and good girl."

I shrugged. "He got on my nerves."

"You remind me of someone." Rachael said slowly.

And when I asked her who she replied. "Me. You remind me of me. The former me."

I was lost in the oceans. "How?"

Rachael laughed and stood up.

"We'll discuss this later." She said.

Before I could even open my literally sealed lips, she was back to her desk.

I was then lost in my thoughts.

Minutes turned to an hour and no teacher was yet in our class. Everywhere was tumultuous.

Some were playing cards, some were chatting and laughing uproariously while a few busied themselves with either novels or textbooks.

"I don't want you following me around like flies. I'm not shit!"

There was a momentary calm in the midst of the tumult.

It was Jane from SS2C. She stared murderously at Roshan who was meant to be her boyfriend.

"I will smack your darned face if you keep getting on my fucked up nerves. For Christ's sake give me some breathing space." She yelled.

Roshan ran his hand over his slightly curly hair. He was bi racial. His father was African while his mother was a Canadian.

His fists were clenched as he bit injuriously on his red full lower lips.

"I'm just asking for five minutes!"

Jane hissed and walked further into the class. She swayed her proportional hips as she sashayed towards Ruth's table.

She tapped ferociously on the desk making Ruth who was resting her head on it to jerk up alarmingly.

"What was that for?" Ruth held her chest as she saw it was no other person than a raging Jane.

"I came here to plead with you to please tell your boyfriend to leave me alone." Jane spat out.

Ruth was a bit disconcerted. She looked at the whole class first. Then at Roshan before taking her gaze back to Jane.

"I don't know what you're talking about. And be specific and quick about it."

Ruth stared intently at Jane. Wanting to see her worse. Wanting to see the hard stuffs Jane claimed to be made of.

"I made a simple request that must be granted. Simply tell this guy to leave me alone or else I'll chop off his balls and there will be nothing for him to do the doggy style with you again!"

This was mad.

Awesomely crazy for a Friday morning.

"I won't tolerate such defamation from you, Jane. Go ahead and chop his balls if you want." Ruth cared less.

Roshan's eyes widened as saucers. It seemed as though he didn't believe what Ruth spat out.

"You will experience this wicked thing you have done to me, someday." Jane told Ruth before turning to her so called boyfriend.

"And you, I can't even tell you that we are over because it's obvious that I was in the relationship all alone."

"Take him, he's all yours." Jane addressed Ruth in a tone of finality and then left the class.

By now, the class was already alive with the latest class drama.

Ruth the originator of the drama simply rolled her eyes and rested her head, back on top of her desk.

Leaving us to drink Panadol on top of her own migraine.

"Roshan is an Idiot o. How can he have a girlfriend like Jane and still cheat on her with Ruth of all people." Jackson the perfect of the class said to his friend.

Frank concord. "That Ruth is a legit bitch. I heard she rode the Sir Law so as to get him to her side when her case was brought up the last time."

"It's Roshan's foolishness that's paining me right now." Jackson sighed.

"Guy, fear your gender."

Jackson chuckled. "But it's the right time to shoot my shot. I told you I like Jane. Should I ask her out?"

The expression on Frank's face made him look like an Idiot. Instantly, he regretted opening his mouth to vomit what he earlier did.

"Even if this whole school was bereft of guys, that babe would rather remain single that date you."

Frank was blunt. And that was something people detested about him, asides the fact that he was voracious which resulted him to be a bit chubby.

Jackson was speechless.

"Just saying the truth, bro." Frank casually said as he shrugged his broad shoulders.

When it was obvious to all that Ruth wasn't sleeping was when she stood up and left the class, calling everyone 'Imbeciles.'

Probably, she could no longer stomach the judgemental comments thrown to her.

I in particular was perplexed. Never ever had I thought Ruth to be that kind of girl. And she was that ruthless roommate who claimed to be a perfectionist.

So sardonic.

"Ss2B students, what are you guys still doing inside the class. Isn't this time for sports?"

The whole class got to their feet at the sight of the Physical Health Education teacher, Mr Henry.

"But Sir, what will we do? The girls are always exempted from the sporting activities. We want to play ball today." Someone spoke up.

"Who said that anyone will play ball? We are doing the inter house sports practice. Now move to the field!"

There were comments to show how displeased we were but Mr Henry cared less.

"I don't want to return to this class and find a single soul in it." He finalized.

The school field was a wide one. It was filled with both the Juniors and we the seniors.

I wasn't good at sports. But you could count on me on anything relating to studies. I sat down on one of the benches where I could have a view of those marching.

I am going to cheerlead, I told myself.

"You look hopeless." Someone who turned out to be Helen said with a shake of her fat head.

"Is it that obvious?" I asked, sighing tiredly. "I'm bored."

Helen chuckled and sat beside me."Your face says it already. But then, I'm here to save your ass."

As if that was possible.

"I'm serious. Mr King told me to call all the music club members. He wants to have practice with us."

"When did I become a music clubber?" I furrowed my brows.

"You're not even serious. I'm trying to drag you out of here but it seems that you're comfortable. Suit yourself, dearie." Helen stood up from the bench.

"Ah ahn, chill." I stood up as well with a silly smile on my face. " I'm following you."

We called some others that were among the club before we now left for the music room.

Mr King was playing the Piano when we entered the room. It was surreal.

Not the way he played the Piano that was surreal. It was the sight of him playing it.

Why? Because no one ever played that instrument.

The background song playing helped in the hypnotism. I felt this calm within my fragile soul.

I never wanted this to end.

"Faith? Faith!" I felt myself literally jump out of my skin at the way my name was shouted.

"What?" I turned to Helen with an angry look.

Mood spoiler.

"You have been standing at this same spot since we entered here. Are you even aware of that?" She looked at me in such a way I couldn't comprehend.

"Yes?" I answered, kinda unsure.

Helen sighed as she said that my problem was definitely out of this world. And I believed her.

There was something about the Piano that I couldn't comprehend. It found a way of touching the chords of my heart, any and every time it got played.

No musical instrument affected me that way.

And I would surely fall in love with whosoever that would teach me the art of playing the Piano.

"You came with your friend again." Mr King addressed Helen.

"Yes, she's interested in this club. Not just that, she is a big fan of the way you handle music." Helen exaggerated.

Eh?

"Who..." Helen cut me off the line.

"Even Sir, after yesterday's escapade, she fell truly and deeply in love with your lifestyle." Helen continued.

I was so embarrassed. And I almost fainted when Mr King smiled heartily at me.

I finally glared murderously at Helen, making her chuckle and stop her cruise. "That's nice to hear, Faith." Mr King began.

I nodded with the most plastic smile.

"So what musical instrument can you play? Saxophone? Violin? Tambourine?" He listed with expectancy in his eyes.

"Actually Sir, I'm yet to learn any. But I know how to sing. I love singing." I confessed truthfully.

He loved how honest I was. I saw it in his eyes.

"But Sir, you can play the Piano quite well. Why don't you teach others to learn?" I probed.

"I'm not good at it. I never really had interest in the instrument so I paid less attention to it." He explained.

How could someone lack such tremendous sense of sensibility?

"Can you sing for me?" Mr King requested.

I declined it.

"Nah. People tend to fall for my voice. And I don't want you falling for me." I teased.

He nodded at my bold words. "Let's see how much you can mesmerize me." He muttered.

I arched a brow. "You said?"

"I mean start singing, time is no longer on our side." He said and I thought him strange.

"Start with the solfa notes." He advised.

Not as if I didn't know.

I ran through the scale breathlessly. I didn't stretch my voice that much but I knew that I tried.

I really did.
