Ch. 9The lie she said

While having a phone call with Zhao Ming, she carefully pressed the top to close the steel lunchbox.
Rong: Ming, can you send me your boss's address?
Ming: Xiaomi Ge?
Rong: Not him. I'm asking about Mr. Wen.
Ming: Wait, why did you need his address? What's going on?
Rong: I'll tell you later, for sure. Can you do me a favour, please?
Ming: Just don't let him know that I gave you the address.
Rong: Deal!
Hanging up on her call, she headed towards the given address.
After a quick ride, she arrived in one of the most expensive areas. She could feel wealth in the air, as most of the houses were worth millions.
She gasped before entering his house. She easily got access, as the guards weren't there at the moment.
"Woa!" Her mouth remained open as she watched the living room. It appeared simple yet sophisticated and luxurious.
She kept walking until someone called her out.
"Miss?"
She turned to face a middle-aged woman wearing a black and white shirt and skirt.
"May I know who you are looking for?"
"Umm, I want to meet Mr... I mean Wen Shaoqing."
"Oh! May I know who you are?"
"I..." She pauses for a while before answering in the stupidest way. "I'm his girlfriend." She smiles nervously, making eye contact with the lady.
The lady checked her out from top to bottom before replying.
"Shaobu is in his room. You can go upstairs and turn right. The first room is for him."
"Okay, thank you." She tilted her head before heading upstairs.

.....................................................

Opening the box, she giggled to herself, recalling his nickname.
"Shaobu? What a weird yet cute name." Her smile grew as she took the bowl filled with hot soup in her hands and turned to the left.
Instantly, her eyes widened at the scene of him naked with a towel wrapped around his waist.
His bare chest flustered her. In a moment, both screamed as the bowl slipped away from her hand and fell on the floor.
"What are you doing here in my bedroom?" He asked in astonishment.
"I..."
"Wait, don't tell me you're really a stalker."
"I'M NOT." She raised her voice in disagreement.
He stepped ahead, making her step back until she hit the nightstand.
Leaning inward, he put his hands on the nightstand, circling her.
"Tell me your motive already. What do you want from me?"
"Are you kidding me? I came here to repay my mistake. I only wanted to give you the soup to get relief from the stomachache."
"Are you too kind, or do you think I'm a fool? You hit my head, spilled the cake over me, and even caused me a stomachache. Do you think that's how people repay for their mistakes?"
"I..."
Before she could utter a word, the door opened as a lady walked in, catching their attention.
"Shaoqing."
Both panickedly glanced in that direction.
"Mom?"
Gulping hard, she quickly got up, pushing him away.
"Did I disturb you two? Alright, you can continue." Closing the door, she walked, leaving them frightened.

............................................

She walked downstairs and noticed his mom and the lady who welcomed her talking to each other.
The glances shifted to her as she approached them with a smile.
"Hello, I'm Shaoqing's mom."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Cong Rong."
"Cong Rong?" She got closer to her and grabbed her hand. "What an adorable name."
"Thank you." She lowered her head, not knowing how to respond.
"Cong Rong, if you don't mind, can I share something with you?"
"Of course you can."
"I got to know you were dating my son."
"Actually, I..."
"Thank you."
As soon as she wanted to explain her situation, the sheltered tears in her eyes halted her.
"His dad and I were always at work when he was a child. We always thought giving our son a luxurious life would make up for the time we didn't give him, but we were wrong. My son turned into a lonely person. The more he grows up, the more he isolates himself from others. I don't remember him having any friends to hang out with. He mostly spent his birthdays alone, and so he stopped celebrating them even."
Wiping her tear, she pressed Rong's hand gently. "Cong Rong, I hope you can make it up for him. I'll be happy to see my son have the fun he deserves in life. Please be with him for a long time."

.............................................

Fixing his tie one last time, he glanced in the mirror and grinned.
Soon as he came out, he reached downstairs and found that lady alone. He asked, "Aunt Liu, where is mom?"
"Oh, she went back home. She made a special lunch for you. Shall I serve you?"
"Okay."
"Also, your girlfriend is waiting on the balcony."
"My girlfriend?" He raised a brow.
"Yes. Girls don't like to wait. Don't make her wait longer."

.................................................

He had just reached the balcony when she turned back and started saying sorry to him.
"I genuinely came here to make up for my mistake, but I guess I ended up in a mess again. Still, I'm sorry for messing around. I'll not trouble you anymore. I promise!"
She pinched her neck, swearing not to break her promise. Little did she know that it was the beginning of a new mess in their lives.
His gaze shifted from her face to her hand. "Your hand?" He stared at it in concern while she shrugged his worry away.
"Oh! It's just a little burn. Don't worry about it."
Reaching out his hand, he took hold of her wrist and headed to a room. "Let's go. Get your wounds dressed."
"Huh?"
She had started writing her romance novel's first draft on her laptop. She started the first chapter by noting the incidents that happened to her as a medium. While writing, she reached a moment in the story that forced her to think.

"When Gu Wei started applying ointment to Mao's bruised hand, she..."

Her hands frowned at their place. She had a desire to continue but was not able to write further. What happened after all?
