Ch. 1Unfair

I was awakened by the strong breeze that was passing through my window and making its presence visible by the curtains that was swaying because of great delightedness.

I was trying to collect all my senses only for me to realize that I've slept in my mini study table because of putting so much time in doing my home works last night.

Instead of stretching the first step, I hurried to my windows because of the sudden downpour of heavy rain. Maybe the reason why the wind acts crazy right now. It was too late for me to realize that most likely, the class would be canceled again today. I only have one more day to go to school this week due to the heavy rains but I can't help but wonder because this is the month that every student is looking forward to because it has been raining one after another.

If I were like them, I would probably have been overjoyed but not. It would have been better if I had learned something new today, more than the television shows, the ones I read in the newspaper and a few chores.

There was nothing I could do but stare out the window and watch the noise outside. I was amused by the strong wind swaying the coconut trees and making its own chaos. Very different from what I wanted to happen. I even kept an eye on my homework so that eventually I would just bury myself here at home.

I breathed out a deep sigh and finally started to move. It would be better for me to just start my activities so that I can be more productive today while it is still early. After I organized myself I went down to the office to start my work. The quiet surrounding was informing me that I was the only person who's awake. Probably my roommates aren't even awake here at home, and the other helpers aren't there either because it's Friday and it's their day off, so I take charge when it's Friday and Saturday.

"Cyreese you woke up in the morning. You're not in today because there's another typhoon."

I was startled for a moment by ma'am Mira's voice. He obviously woke up earlier even though He was still wearing shiny clothes.

"Ah, yes ma'am. I also got up early and did my chores because I couldn't go back to sleep." I said while wiping the counter top here in the kitchen. He just nodded and frowned as he sat at the table while looking at his Ipad. I immediately acted to serve her the coffee she always asked for every morning.

"Isn't your Sir Constantine still coming home?" She asked as I put the coffee in front of him. She was probably asking me because I was the last person awake last night.

Sir Constantine is her husband who had not returned home for several days and left Manila for a client of theirs.

"Not yet ma'am." that's all and I left him after he nodded and I distracted myself with other housework.

Ma'am Mira and sir Constantine are the owners of the house where I am staying now, as far as I know sir Constantine is an Engineer while ma'am Mirasol is a Principal but not here in Mar de Vena but in Manila .

They have been kind enough to let me stay in their home since the tragedy happened to my family just two years ago. Even though there's no such thing that will connect us as family, they treated me in a way that I would feel like I'm accepted. Yes, I would be happy if they treat me as part of their family but they gave me the life that I should be grateful enough. Although they were not my blood relatives, they educated and fed me and never treated me badly during my entire stay with them. So the only simple housework I could do was to somehow show my great gratitude. Life was never fair but God is.

I was denied, Yes. But I don't want to ask for anything anymore because right now he is giving me too much. So while I was still in the eleventh grade I was trying to do everything I could to have a reason for my life in this world. Because that's life, and it is too short to do such things that will just be a hindrance for you to achieve your goals.

I was a bit startled when someone opened the door and it was Sir Constantine and he was not alone. The welcoming of ma'am Mira was a blur to me when a figure of an unfamiliar man who's standing behind the door, captured my eyes.

His height was so intimidating that the presence of sir Constantine was not noticeable at all. Like Sir Constantine, he was at his long sleeve corporate attire that was rolled up to his elbows, my eyes made its way to his wrist because of the shiny thing that was surely introducing luxury.

The way he stand and with his hand on his pocket was screaming with dignity and masculinity. His eyes scanned the whole living area like he's never gotten here before and from that, I was so shocked to suddenly meet his eyes like they have their own words speaking to me.

I swallowed a few more times because of the drowning I felt in his stares.

"Cyreese, get me a towel from the bathroom for a second."

If ma'am Mira hadn't instructed me, my unconscious stare at her would not have been removed.

"Yes."

I immediately went to the bathroom to pick up the bimpo stocks from the cabinet. They got a little wet maybe because of the strength of the rain that accompanied the wind outside.

I handed the bimpo to ma'am Mira, and was stunned by only one bimpo she took in my hand to hand to her husband. For a second I was a bit hesitant to do it, but as if I have the choice. Ma'am was so busy with her husband so I had no choice but to step forward for a while and bowed and handed the bimpo to the man with my boss.
