“I suppose. But I don’t think I will be very good at it. As you’ve probably have guessed by now, I don’t have a lot of experience with men,” she replied softly.
“You do alright with me,” he said.
“That’s different. You’re my boss. There is no attraction between us,” she said.
Tyler wasn’t altogether sure about that but he didn’t comment on it.
“I am a man just like any other,” he replied.
“And if I have to respond to you romantically I’m sure to make a mess of things,” she said miserably.
He reached across the table to grasp her hand.
“Don’t worry. Just follow my lead. You will be fine,” he smiled gently.
She nodded. The server brought their food and they talked about the function and what she could expect. As they were walking back to the office at a leisurely pace when the sky clouded over and it began to pour. They hadn’t an umbrella so they ran into a small arched doorway to a closed storefront.
“The weatherman did not say it would rain today,” she complained.
“Since when do those people ever get it right?” he grinned. “It shouldn’t last long.”
The wind became blustery and Lacy chafed her arms. He took off his suit jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. He kept his arm about her and pulled her close.
“Better?” he asked.
She nodded.
“Yes. Thank you,” she said gratefully. His jacket was warm from his body heat and she felt snug and cozy in his arms.
“Thank you.”
She looked up at him; her blue green eyes puzzled.
“For what?”
“For agreeing to be my date on Saturday. It’s a lot more involved than just accompanying me and I appreciate your willingness to help me,” he said sincerely.
“You’re welcome,” she returned simply.
Her eyes were warm and sparkling and he couldn’t resist bending his head to kiss her cheek. Her skin was soft and smooth. He wanted to trail his mouth to her neck to see if it was just as supple as her cheek. He started his downward motion and heard her indrawn breath. He suckled harder and she leaned in to him. Lacy had never felt such intense pleasure from a man’s kiss. Her heart hammered as desire coursed through her. She clenched her fists against his broad muscled chest and tried to control her ragged breathing. She knew she was in over her head and she had to stop the madness that had claimed her senses. He had trailed his lips across her cheek and was about to capture her lips. She sighed and opened for him. His tongue swept into mouth to dance with her own. Lacy couldn’t help but respond; it felt so good. She had never been kissed like this and she exalted in the pleasure of it. His intensity grew as he deepened the kiss and her arms crept around his neck. He pulled her closer and tightened his arms about her waist. She could feel his erect penis through his pants and liked the hardness against her softness. He was so masterful when he took control of the caress. She wanted it to go on forever. Her desire was growing and she suddenly was frightened. She jerked back.
“I…it’s not…I can’t,” she gasped.
“Lacy, I—
“The rain has eased up. I think we can make it back to the office now,” she said shakily.
She took off running, leaving him little choice but to follow. When he entered the office she had disappeared and he was accosted by several people wanting his attention. When he finally made it to his office he saw his suit jacket hanging neatly on his suit rack. He tried calling her only to find out that she had left for the day. He was deflated. He’d wanted to see her again; be in her presence for any reason. It didn’t matter why. He just wanted to be with her. He wasn’t sure why he felt as he did and he didn’t care. He just wanted what he wanted.

Tyler was frustrated as hell the next day. Between his busy schedule and Lacy’s adept ability at avoiding him, he hadn’t been able to talk to her all day. He knew she didn’t want to discuss their kiss yesterday in the rain. But it had been all that he could think about since it happened. He needed to see her alone but he been called in to a conference call and she’d gone home by the time it ended. Well, if she thought that she had escaped him, she was mistaken. Tyler grabbed his jacket and left the building. It didn’t take him long to arrive at Lacy’s apartment building. He sat in his midnight blue Maserati for a few moments to collect his thoughts. He wondered what he would say when she opened the door. Suddenly he was unsure. He’d just known that he needed to see her and hated that she’d been able to elude him. He shrugged and got out of the car. He would just wing it. It was what he did best. He went into her building and rang her doorbell. He waited a few seconds then heard her muffled voice through the door.
“This isn’t a good time, Tyler.”
“Open the door, Lacy. Or else I’ll make the biggest scene your neighbors have ever heard,” he threatened.
